It's a WONDER we have any money left after the Cruise! - All done!

Alison - sorry that Fran was in pain. I hope that the pain eased up for her during the day.

I loved the food porn and I'm with you. I would have asked to be moved from that table.

Sounds like you had a nice relaxing day. A shame about Cabo - but Fran does come first :thumbsup2.

ps. Nice selection of wines. Looks like a great list.

What a shame Fran was unwell, hope she felt better after she had rested

I would HAVE to move table if someone threw up anywhere near me :crazy2:

Thanks for posting the wine list :thumbsup2

What a shame that Fran was not feeling well. I loved the photo of the Christmas decorations. One year I will get to see them for myself. What a shame about the "protein spill" at lunch. I would have asked to be moved, too.

Count me in as another one that wouldn't have made too long after someone threw up or I'd be doing the same thing.

Love the sign on the box...

I for sure would have puked if a kid at the next table puked. :faint: The hazmat box is hilarious.

I'm sorry Fran wasn't feeling well but it looks like you made the best of it. Thank you for sharing all of the pics.

I love Cabo and have been a few times but I am not a fan of the port and shopping. I prefer the real part of town where more locals are. Is Mexico that dangerous? Last time we went was 2010 to Cabo in fact.

Hope you both made it to Palo. :goodvibes I thought Wreck it Ralph was adorable. Cute message but I couldn't stand Fix it Felix' voice/twang. :scared:

How sad Fran was feeling so lousy. I hope she was up for dinner.

Very bizarre the lunch waiter seemed annoyed. It's not like he was being shorted a tip for a cheaper lunch... Sorry about the unpleasantness with the puking.

Glad you got to Wreck-It Ralph, I thought that movie was so cute.

I didn't ask to be moved, I figured they would have it taken care of quickly. Besides, there was actually no visible evidence of foul play. I only gathered that from the actions of the people and what eventually ensued following.

She didn't get much better for the rest of the trip, but she made do. As I said earlier, you actually couldn't see anything on the table (from my angle). I'm sure that if I said something the staff would have been like... :confused3

In fact they continued to seat people all around the area as if nothing had happened. I really didn't know if anything HAD happened until the haz mat guy showed up. Until then, things just seemed weird.

Unfortunately, Fran has been feeling awful for quite some time. I think the day in PV really did her in, she did a lot that day and didn't get nearly as much rest as she should have. She is doing better now that she has had a couple of the arthritis infusions.

Count me in as another one that wouldn't have made too long after someone threw up or I'd be doing the same thing.

As I said, it was unclear as to what had really happened. I had a suspicion that the kid had puked, but there was no real evidence and when they kept seating people all around, I figured that maybe I was overreacting and maybe they just needed to change the kids diaper or something. It was when the "Hitman" arrived that I KNEW something bad had happened.

I really don't know if Mexico is that dangerous or not, but for whatever reason Disney has stopped their cruises to those ports. We'll have to see how the cruises from the other ports go.

I was thinking the same thing, he wasn't getting any less of a tip for me not ordering as much? :confused3 Maybe I was just reading something into it that wasn't there.

When we arrived at Palo, our host greeted us by name and we were taken to “our table” and our server from Brunch would be taking care of us again that evening.

Excuse the blurryiness of this first menu photo, I need to try and check them better when I take them!

I started off with a Belvedere Gibson “up”

Hristo brought us the lovely bread service

DSCN9617.jpg

Then he made us up an antipasto plate

We brought our own bottle of wine from our cellar. Even though they charge a $20 corkage fee, it would be difficult to find a bottle of Cabernet older than 15 years for less than several hundred dollars, so the $20 is well worth it for us!

DSCN9624.jpg

At some point a photographer stopped by and took our pictures, this one came out pretty good.

Palo.jpg

We ordered quite a lot of food, and we split most of the appetizers. First we had calamari rings

DSCN9625.jpg

These were the Sicilian Pesto Marinated Shrimp and they were very tasty. I think I ate one of them trying to save room for everything that was to come!

DSCN9626.jpg

Now our server convinced us that we really needed to try the polenta. It was some of the best polenta that I have had, but that’s not saying much. I guess I’m not a huge fan of polenta.

DSCN9627.jpg

This next dish put my lunch to shame. This is why I mentioned that they were probably the sort of lobster ravioli that you buy in the freezer at Costco. This was a Lobster and Mascarpone Ravioli, I had the kitchen make me an appetizer portion, but you can also have it as your entrée. This was absolutely AMAZING. The flavor was so subtle and so wonderful, I couldn’t even believe that I had eaten the other ravioli and enjoyed them. There was no comparison. I will definitely have this again if it is on the menu!

DSCN9628.jpg

I believe that this was the Wild Mushroom Risotto. I know that Fran didn’t get any of the Ravioli, I’m not sure if I ate any of this one, now that I think about it. I think I was doing the “happy food squirm” (since the happy food dance would be inappropriate in a restaurant like this) from the Ravioli and completely missed out on the Risotto.

DSCN9629.jpg

Of course we needed the palate cleanser. I don’t remember the flavor, either lemon or grapefruit or something in between.

DSCN9630.jpg

For our main courses, I had the Rack of Lamb, which was absolutely wonderful. Perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection.

DSCN9631.jpg

Fran got the Osso Buco which she said was absolutely heavenly, and our George de Latour Cabernet went perfectly with these entrees.

DSCN9632.jpg

Next the dessert menus came. I already knew that I was having the Chocolate Souffle, Fran actually looked at the menu and chose something else.

DSCN9640.jpg

She wasn’t that silly though, she knew enough to order another Souffle for herself!

DSCN9639.jpg

She chose to take this rather unflattering picture of me about to fall asleep in my dessert from a severe food coma!

DSCN9641.jpg

We came back to the room to find a towel animal which had no involvement with Lucifer!

Hristo is great. We had him for a few meals at Palo now. Our favourite Palo server on the Wonder is still Nikola from Serbia though. I love the Polenta at Palo and would happily eat it for appetizers, entree and dessert. Our server on the Magic convinced Graham to try it and he hated it. Still, that meant that I got some extra. I am not surprised that you were in a food coma after all this gorgeous food.

Corinna

Thanks for whetting my appetite for my Palo brunch and dinner on the Magic next month. Now I know I did the right thing by booking both!!!

The food for the day looked amazing. I am sorry Fran was not feeling well.

I would be a joiner, I always joke that I could not let someone puke alone....

I hope you had a wonderful day.

Actually we visited the jewelry store together, I posted pictures of the purchases a couple of pages back. I got a necklace, and we both got rings. Yesterday at Macy's I picked up a pair of Tanzanite earrings on half price, I hope they match the color of the stones we got in Mexico. If not I can always take them back to a Macy's near my house.

Happy New Year! To you too!

:thumbsup2Nice stones! I often read the DIS at work ( :rolleyes1 ) and at work I don't see the pictures. So I went back to see your jewelry when on my home computer - really special. It's fun to have a particular stone that you collect. But there are so many shades of Tanzanite - I never knew much about it before this.
Macy's does have some great surprises, right?

I'm drooling...:rotfl:

I wish I was having that for NYE tomorrow night!

That's sometimes how things work out for Fran and I, but usually I'm the one who doesn't like things and she gets the bonus of eating them for me!

I'm drooling too!

Do you need a kleenex for that? :lmao:

Drooling as well. :lovestruc That meal looks amazing!

There seems to be a lot of drooling going on? Am I on the Old Fogies thread? :rotfl2:

Are you on one of the six night or eight night cruises? I can't wait to hear about how they go! We are thinking of doing Palo three times on our next cruise!

As I said, it wasn't until the hazmat guy showed up that I actually put 2+2 together. Especially since they kept seating people. I was more wondering during that whole lunch....

But yeah, if the kid had actually done it while I was sitting there and I was sure that was what it did, I would have lost it too!

I can't deal with TRs that don't have pictures, so I commend you wading my way through my TR at work without seeing pictures. I don't think that I have all that many stories worth listening to at least on this one!

Glad you are enjoing it!

I'll be on the 6-night that leaves Galveston on January 26th. First Disney cruise and I am anxiously waiting out the next 27 days. Info on the 6-day cruises is slowly appearing on the boards.
