Excuse me, you'll need to see security. What has Mickeystoontown done? Update 3/25x2

I hope you had a merry christmas. I didn't make it to the boards before hand to wish you a merry christmas. :)

:santa: MERRY DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS!

Better late than never I suppose. Thanks to all of you for the Christmas wishes!

Our Christmas was an eventful one, and, in true McBride fashion, it included a little "action". Mama called about 1:00 p.m. crying saying that a tree had fallen and had ripped the meter box, electrical and telephone wires from her house. The wires were live on the ground so we had to put in an emergency call to the electric company. The emergency crew came about 4 hours later and turned off the service so that an electrician could come.

Mama called just a few minutes ago and said that the electrician came by and will have his portion of the work done today. The other companies will have to be called but phone and cable aren't as important.

Other than that, we had a great holiday! Lacey and Jesse came to Louisiana and we were able to spend three days with them. They are now on their way back to Tennessee. It'll be five long months until we see them again.

I need to get busy here at work but I'm hoping that it won't be too terribly busy. I have GOT to get a move-on with this trip report. [/SIZE]

How scary for Mama! At least the tree just landed on wires and didn't damage the house itself. So wonderful that you got to spend a few days with Lacey and Jesse too. Sounds like you had a nice holiday overall!

There are rats coming out of that flower pot! And theres a snake!

Before leaving the Asia area of the park, we checked once more to see if Expedition Everest was back up and running and it was not. So, we headed in the direction of Dinoland USA. It was time for a blast from the past...to come face to face with some large beasts! It was time for:

There was some construction going on around the front of the building:

For repeat readers, you know that we like to take crazy pictures while on Dinosaur and are usually able to come up with a theme fairly quickly. This time, however, nothing was coming to our minds and, instead of taking pictures in the queue, we were brainstorming. These are all that I took while waiting:

Even as we were boarding our Time Rover, we were trying to decide what to do. Oh no! We gotta come up with something...its a tradition! It isnt the best of our best but it turned out okay:

I purchased the package that included one printed picture and a digital copy then we headed toward:

DSCF3619.jpg

Because Primeval Whirl was closed, we didnt stick around very long. Have yall ever noticed this sculpture in Dinoland? Its made of all sorts of things and is pretty neat.

DSCF3620.jpg

We had other plans for the evening and we had pretty much done everything in the park with the exception of Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids. None of us wanted to get soaked to the bone just before getting back on the bus so we skipped it and started walking towards the front of the park. Along the way, we stopped in a couple of shops to browse. While standing outside, I saw something that caused me to say There are rats coming out of that flower pot! And theres a snake! At first, the family thought that I was talking about real rats and snakes but then saw what I was talking about.

When we reached to Oasis, we peeked into the various animal areas and tried to find the various animals hiding out amongst the foliage. We did see several animals including this pretty little deer:

And a:

As I mentioned, we had plans for the evening which included dinner at Downtown Disney (and a surprised that no one but John and I knew about) so we needed to get back to the resort and shower and change before heading back out for the night. We were the only family standing in line for the bus and Hunter and Lacey had a friendly sister/brother competition of who could do the most chin-ups on the bar:

DSCF3630.jpg

Oops, Lacey hit her head:

DSCF3628.jpg

A bus came soon after Hunter did his "I did the most chin-up" victory dance and we were on our way back to the Caribbean Beach Resort. Time had kind of gotten away from us and we didn't realize until we got back to our rooms that we needed to semi-rush to get ready. We didn't want to be late for our ADR or for our special surprise.

**Up next: Singing the blues and swinging from the rafters!

Lisa, I stopped by to wish you a Merry Christmas to you and your family, and read about the situation at Hunter's school. How scary for all, especially after what happened in Connecticut. I'm glad they found th eperson and hope he gets some help.

MERRY CHRISTMAS LISA, AND FAMILY!!!

Hi Lisa! I hope your family has a wonderful Christmas!

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!

Merry Christmas!!

I hope you had a merry christmas. I didn't make it to the boards before hand to wish you a merry christmas. :)

Lisa - I hope you and the family had a wonderful Christmas!

Thank you all so very much! I hope that you all had a blessed Christmas!

Oh gosh. Was there a storm that caused it to fall? I am glad she is OK.

The winds were pretty bad and it rained all day long. The tree was dead but we thought that it would fall into the woods. It was that darn wind that blew it towards the house.

How scary for Mama! At least the tree just landed on wires and didn't damage the house itself. So wonderful that you got to spend a few days with Lacey and Jesse too. Sounds like you had a nice holiday overall!

It was scary for her. She was in the bedroom when it happened and that's the end where all the wiring came into the house. She said that it sounded like a loud explosion.

First of all, while I'm sorry that tree fell toward your Mama's house, I'm so glad it just took out the wires and such and didn't fall INTO the house! :scared1:

Your picture from Dinosaur is great! I always forget which dino it's taken at and and miss my posing opportunity.

Amen sister! The live wires and tree were about 10 feet from the end of Mama's house and from her van. Yikes!

We forget which dinosaur takes the picture too so we pose at every "big" dinosaur.

Singing the blues and swinging from the rafters!

Everyone showered and got ready as quickly as possible so that we could make our dinner ADR at Downtown Disney. Where were we headed? Here:

DSCF3643.jpg

This was our first time eating at the House of Blues and we were excited when we found out that they now accepted the Disney Dining Plan. We checked in and we seated immediately which was good because John and I knew that we had to be at our next destination at an exact time. Nobody else knew this so we discreetly hurried them along in their entree decision making.

DSCF3631.jpg

Lacey and Hunter both ordered the fried chicken but substituted fries as their side dish. (Buttermilk Fried Chicken - fried chicken marinated in buttermilk, adobo spice, served with Yukon gold garlic mashed potatoes and topped with Cojita cheese and applewood bacon)
Look at the portion! It was huge!

DSCF3637.jpg

The rest of us ordered the steak (New York Strip - seasoned 12-oz. center cut steak with sauteed bourbon onions served with Red Rose garlic mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables)

DSCF3634.jpg

Smile for the camera Lacey and Jesse:

DSCF3635.jpg

Lacey tried to take a picture of John, Hunter and I but couldn’t get us all in the picture because of the size of the booth. Our waiter was kind enough to take a group picture and I thought that it turned out quite nice:

DSCF3636.jpg

For dessert, John and Jesse ordered Bourbon Bread Pudding - cooked with bananas and white chocolate, finished with a bourbon caramel sauce topped with fresh whipped cream:

DSCF3640.jpg

Lacey and Hunter ordered Triple Chocolate Cheesecake - three decadent layers of chocolate cheesecake with seasonal berries and fresh whipped cream. The description came from the allears site and seems a little different from the picture. Looks like our’s had a layer of “regular” cheesecake instead of three chocolate layers.

DSCF3639.jpg

I ordered Key Lime Pie - made with fresh key lime juice and drizzled with a fresh raspberry coulis topped with fresh whipped cream

DSCF3638.jpg

Everything was absolutely delicious! I would recommend it to anyone and have booked it for our next trip to Disney. Be very aware that the portions are large and could easily be split between two people if you aren’t on the dining plan.

As we were ordering our desserts, John asked for our bill so that we wouldn’t have to wait for it when we were done. While eating the desserts, we told Hunter, Lacey and Jesse that we had a surprise for them all and handed out a piece of paper to each. They opened them and it took a minute or two for the surprise to register. Then one of them said “are you serious?”. We told them yes we were. What was the surprise? Tickets to Cirque du Soleil!

We waddled our stuffed bellies out of the restaurant and into the store where some of them picked our t-shirts. We didn’t have long to linger though because we needed to get to the theater. Lacey did ask if we could stop long enough to take their picture:

DSCF3641.jpg

The House of Blues is right next door to the Cirque du Soleil tent/theater and we were thankful because we were all so full from our delicious meal.

DSCF3642.jpg

Our seats were Category 2 seats and we were just three rows up and in the middle of the theater so our seats were great. We could see everything that was happening....the tightrope walkers, the cute little Asian girls with the Chinese yo-yos, the silly clowns and trapeze artists who swung from the rafters and flew through the air.

This was our third time to see Cirque and it was as amazing as always. To some, the show may be kind of “weird” or “odd” but to us, it’s fantastic. Taken from the Cirque du Soleil website:

A door opens and two worlds collide. Enter the attic of make-believe, where the mundane meets the marvelous. Dreams and nightmares intertwine. La Nouba which calls on both individual and collective memory, is an unforgettable journey into a world at once threatening and exhilarating, frightening and familiar. La Nouba beckons to us, challenges us to uncover passions we thought we had lost long ago; to frolic in our childhood dreams and enter a place where the extraordinary transforms and overcomes the ordinary.

La Nouba is the meeting of two worlds poles apart: the fantastic world of the circus artists - the Cirques (circus people), sporting bright, fluorescent colours–and that of the Urbains (urbanites), who wear dark, monochromatic outfits. When these two worlds first make contact, the magic and amazing feats of the one set fire to the pale mundanity of the other
.

You aren’t allowed to take pictures during the performance so I borrowed some from the Cirque website:

When the show was over, Jesse, Lacey and Hunter thanked us over and over again for the surprise and gave us each a big hug. Awww, I love my kiddos! It was getting pretty late and most of the stores were either closed or were closing up shop for the night. We took a few pictures but they didn’t turn out so great:

We caught the bus at the Pleasure Island stop and were back at the resort in no time. The day had been long, hot and exhausting but ended on a fantastic note!

**Up next: Is that Clark W. Griswold, Jr?

Great update! That steak and onions looks great! We haven't eaten there since the menu change. Maybe another trip back is due.

What a great surprise for them! I've always wanted to see cirque, but haven't because of the price. We do have one of their videos. It's amazing so I can just imagine how much better it is in person.

The steak was sooo good! I wish that I had one right now.

Cirque is amazing! I signed up for the free Cirque Club and scored a % off our tickets and the savings was equal to the price of one of the tickets at normal price. It's pretty expensive so we can't go every trip.

oh, I'm so excited to hear about House of Blues. That's one of the restaurants we are eating at in March. The steak looks awesome!!! :cool1: And I too wish you health and happiness for the coming year!

Merry Christmas!! So glad Jesse and Lacey were able to come home for a few days!!

Animal Kingdom has the coolest little details! I have never noticed the dinosaur made from stuff and the rats were just plain creepy!!

The steak at House of Blues looked very yummy...must keep that in mind! I can't wait to get to Cirque!

I have never noticed that rate and snake pots before. Even though I am not a fan of either critter, they are pretty darn cool.

Your dinner at House of Blues looks so yummy! It's now on my list. Looks like everyone had a great meal.

Your dress is so cute!

Love Cirque. I look forward to seeing it again in the future!

Your ride photo from Dinosaur is great - looks like some of your ridemates played along as well!

Your dinner at House of Blues looks really good! I've always wanted to see Cirque - it looks like an awesome show!

Too bad you didn't make it over to Everest again.
Dinner looks great. I may have to put that one on my list. I bet they were all happy with the surprise. I am one who finds it weird, but I do love the Asian yo-yo girls.

The rats were a little creepy but still cool!

If you ever get a chance, go to Cirque. It's amazing!

I'm not a fan of either of those critters either! But, weren't they pretty neat on the pots.

I bought the dress at Sam's Club of all places. It's one of those that's supposed to look a little wrinkled so it packed really well.
