We are coming to WDW 5/25-5/31. There will be four of us: DW, DS16, DD12 and myself. We are trying to decide between Port Orleans Riverside and Coronado Springs. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

We stayed at CSR 3 times in our early Disney days (before we discovered the Poly) and really enjoyed it. However, we know of at least 4 other families that have stayed at Riverside and thought it was fabulous. If you don't have a car I would definitely choose Riverside over CSR.

I've stayed at both and prefer CSR. I've only stayed at POR once and had no complaints, I just prefer the theming of CSR. I also like how CSR has a solid sliding door (as opposed to a curtain) separating the bathroom area from the rest of the room. The bus service at CSR is great- never waited more than 10 minutes. Always got a seat. I will give POR the edge on the food court- it's more of a real food court. At CSR, despite Pepper Market being considered a counter service for the dining plan, it's more of a full service to me since it is a full buffet.

I am trying to figure this out too.

I think that POR is beautiful, but I am worried that the trees will bring extra bugs in June, lol. Having the DTD boat is a plus.

CSR looks amazing at night, but not as newly updated as POR. The pool may be better for our kids?? 16, 13, and 10

Anyone else?

Both have been recently refurbed. I've stayed at both in the last 3 months & the rooms at CSR are much more luxurious in decor than POR.

They are both gorgeous resorts, themed very differently. I prefer CSR only because it felt a little more upscale in decor. Both resorts are very large with multiple bus stops. POR has the advantage of having POFQ and DTD right there as well.

I have only stayed at CSR once but have stayed at POR half a dozen times and it is the clear winner to our family! The theming is relaxing- a river throughout the resort and enough landscaping to shield some of the Orlando sun. You're able to enjoy the resort and still feel like you're a part of the magic. While I thought CSR was a beautiful resort, it felt really hectic and due to the convention center it at times almost felt like an airport. Both resorts are fantastic but I would look at pictures and decide based on theming. CSR feels like more of a tropical resort and POR feels like a quaint Main Street USA. There's is definitely a cult following for both resorts!

Almost forgot- we usually stay at POR in May and haven't ever had a problem with the bugs! As much as I love the Poly- it's the only place I get bug bites at the world.

DH and I had to reserve CSR for our November 2012 trip because POR was full. We've stayed at POR in past years. When I checked in at CSR, it had none of the "Disney" feel for me. It was very business-like and not very friendly. When we got to our room, it had no Disney feel for me either but I didn't say anything to DH. DH looked around and said "I don't think I want to stay here." I felt the same way. He said I can take one night here but after that I would like to be at POR. So I called the front desk and asked about moving to POR. They called me back in a few minutes and said there was a room at POR and we could move. We were thrilled! When we got to POR, the CM's out front greeted us and waved their Mickey hands. Check in had a much more friendly, happy feel to it. When we got to our room, it was total Disney and it felt wonderful! Just our feelings for what it's worth. We will never pay to stay at CSR.

I'm booked at both for a split stay in Feb.

I chose CSR because it looked like it was as close to a Deluxe as you can get without the price. It has a spa, a health club, a great pool, a *club level* that no other mod offers at this time. I'm traveling with adults only, but this appealed to the vacation side of me- it looks like a Mexican vacation without leaving the country. (I feel like Poly was my Hawaiian vacation without leaving the mainland- so hoping this has the same vibe)

I love the parks- LOVE LOVE LOVE them- but I also like the idea of coming back to a resort to get away from it all. The biggest negative I could give was the possible lack of Disney feel since it is a convention resort- but depending on your preferences, that may not be a bad thing.

POR- I chose this because of the Royal room experience. It looks fantastic and so fun! Plus there are some rabid POR lovers who couldn't say enough about this resort and the CMs. I briefly visited the resort last year with a friend and thought it was nice- nothing wowed me, but nothing turned me off either. I lived in Savannah for a while, which is like a smaller, cleaner New Orleans, so the themeing of this resort reminds me of that. Which is lovely- but no longer exotic or interesting for me since I lived there!

I would have to say that POR is amazing. I also love POFQ because it is smaller and still has the boat to DTD.

Have stayed at CSR quite a few times, yes the rooms are a little nicer, but have really been disappointed in the resort our last two trips and will not be returning for awhile. We had major housekeeping issues and just didn't find the staff to be the same as they used to be.

You also need to keep in mind that CSR is a very large resort and if you are put into the Rancho's section it is quite a hike to the front. You would want to request something closer, that being said though. If I am counting right, we have stayed at CSR 6 times and never once has our room request been given to us.

I've stayed at both and love them! CSR has a better pool and the resort feels larger. It also has room service which is nice.

I think in your situation though I might choose POR because of the boat to DTD! I love the theming of POR. it's much better than POFQ in my opinion.

We have stayed at both and we all loved our stay at CSR the most. Probably our favorite resort overall. We had connecting room's on the ground level right by the main pool. The pool at CRS is much better than at POR we all agreed. We would not go back to POR. Boat to DTD took a long time.

I've stayed at both and would have to say they are both excellent and comparable resorts ... you really can't go wrong either way. Personally, I think it all comes down to the theme you prefer ...
We prefer POR over CSR since the theming of CSR is very much like the architecture we have where I live ... It's nice to get away from the palm trees, cactuses and stuccoed buildings once and a while.

We had the same question, and we chose POR.

As for bugs, during a September trip, the resort that had the WORST lovebug infestation, by far, was CSR. I didn't get a moment's peace at the pool that day (we were staying at a DVC resort on points and therefore were allowed to hop to swim there...we were not staying there so the pool, and walking to and from the pool, were the only place we visited at CSR) because they were just swarming. Found out later they are attracted to lighter colors, and my bag and coverup were both white. Whoops.

Our daughter is 18 and she and her friends like either an Epcot resort or CSR.
When love bugs swarm, it doesn't matter where you stay. They're everywhere and usually around the time the school years begin and end-early Sept and late May.
