Upgrades af AoA?

I was just wondering if anyone has been upgraded at Art of Animation from a Little Mermaid room to one of the family suites? We are checking in next Friday and I was thinking of asking if there were any Cars rooms available and what the cost would be to upgrade.

You can find the current rack rates for the AoA suites on the official web site (look under Room Types and Pricing on the AoA main page). Given the very high occupancy rate at all the resorts until at least Jan 7, I think your chances of being able to upgrade to a suite at checkin are very, very slim. But it never hurts to ask as long as you are willing to pay the price.

Now if you think that you will get a FREE upgrade to a suite just by asking..:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Exactly. You may get an upgrade from 2nd floor to 1st floor, but that would be about as close as it would come. It wouldn't be a free upgrade based on the much higher cost of the suites. If you plan to pay for it, they will definitely let you do that if there's availability.

A good estimate... you'll be doubling your cost per night when they move you to that family suite. I imagine if that's what you wanted to pay, you would have booked it in the first place. :confused3

If you're willing to pay for it, go for it! If you're not, your free to ask but I'm sure you'll be disappointed!

I never said I wanted a free upgrade. At the time we booked we wanted to try the Little Mermaid wing and are still planning on staying there. I was curious to see if anyone else had ever done it. Also, if they do have rooms available they could possibly offer a reduced rate if the rooms are not filled. We are also AP holders so there could be a discount there as well.

If you upgrade at check-in, you'll likely be paying rack rate. Disney doesn't discount rooms at check-in just because they're empty.

Since you have an AP, check for discounts now. The Cars suites may well be booked up by the time you get there, if they're not already gone. You won't get a better deal by waiting till check-in.

I got upgraded free to a suite at Allstar Music once. But that was likely because they needed the room to accommodate some South American tour groups. As far as I know they haven't had groups staying at Little Mermaid, not enough rooms there and due to the novelty they can fill them up with regular guests.

You can always ask what it would cost to upgrade to a suite when you check in but I don't think you should anticipate that the upgrade would be discounted. They MIGHT have AP discounted suites available, but if that's what you really want you can check on that now.
