Sea Trek Helmet Dive at Coral World Ocean Park

Has anyone done the Sea Trek Helmet Dive at Coral World Ocean Park at St. Thomas? I'm intrested in any info you have to offer on the excursion. Thanks!

If you scuba dive it wouldn't be anything special, but to us (DH DD17,D14) it was a novel way to be close to sea life. We got to handle the creatures as well. The leaders were very good. We did this on our own in July. I wanted to do the Sea Lion Encounter, so although costly it was possible. We caught a cab on our own and it was easy to get a return ride when we were done. The cab fair was higher than expected. Bring enough cash for this and for tips. For more information go to their website.

Neither of us have any scuba experience, so it looked like a fun way to get up close to the creatures--closer than snorkeling. How did you plan and do this on your own?

Wifey and I did the helmet dive in Cozamel. We really enjoyed it. Just wished we had more time in the water. This little excursion made me get my diving certification .

DH and 14 y/o niece did it last summer and both really enjoyed it. Neither have scuba experience, so I agree with others it is a good way to get the experience if you're not a diver. Since I didn't go personally, I don't know what type of insight to offer, but if you have a specific question, I am happy to ask DH.

I researched a bit on the coral world website so that I knew which activities interested us and then called Coral World. The woman who answered helped me choose times and I had to pay a non- refundable down payment. I was mistaken before, we did the Sea Lion experience (got in the water with) not the encounter. It was a very easy transaction, and we saw people with DCL excursion stickers. Like I mentioned earlier, the greatest challenge was the taxi. The driver wanted to wait to fill the cab, but we just insisted that she needed to go as we had a reservation.
