Cayman Eco Adventures Grand Cayman and Tendering Disney Fantasy

I booked with Cayman Eco Adventures in Grand Cayman for the Stingray Tour and heard great things about them.

At the same token I have heard nothing about horror stories about the tender process as I am not booking an excursion through Disney....

Cayman Eco Adventures told me to get off of the ship as quick as possible on the earliest tender. Is this possible when not booking an excursion through Disney and does anyone have any tips for this?

Anything would help this is my first trip on a Disney Cruise :)

Regards, Jerry

Possible? Yes. Will it happen? Maybe.

The way it works....concierge guests have priority tendering (if they want to be on the first tender, they get it.) DCL tour groups have a "meet" time and place, and are taken from their meet spot to the tender. The line of people disembarking the ship is cut to allow the tender group to board the tender. Guests leaving on their own are told to report to usually the BV theater. You are to go as a family (all people getting off together) with all your "stuff." In other words, no place holding allowed. You will wait in the theater till you are escorted to the next available tender. I have waited as "long" as 10 minutes or as little as literally we sat down and immediately got up again!

Where we HAVE been kept waiting is on the tender itself while it fills. Since the tenders hold a couple hundred guests each, it takes a while to get them filled up. In my experience, as soon as one tender departs, another boat ties up to the ship and starts filling.

And then there was the time that the first tender was taken for a "medical" emergency....where we watched a person in handcuffs be escorted onto the tender. The announcement was that it was needed for a medical emergency and thus would not be available to guests.

We are thinking about this tour in April. Did you do the tour? What did you think? How was the tender process in making the tour on time? Thanks!
