new entrance at mk

your right when they did the testing the resort didnt have rfid yet but i think they will because they do i am fine if they keep it resorts but they will have to add it to ap. it be easy since you can get them at resort so they could just give them the new cards. i think untill they get all the tickets and aps switched over they would expand the turn styles to add more.

why do they have to switch it over for the aps and regular tickets. From the way I see it eventually once they roll out the fast pass plus system to all resort guest the room key will have all that info on it and everyone else will get regular paper fast passes and won't have access to the extra attractions that have fast pass plus but don't have regular fast pas like the hunted mansion for example.

1. i am an ap and they better switch it over. lol

plus disney sell room only and gives ap discounts so if they don't switch over it might coast them money in resorts so that why i think at least for ap plus they have to let those guest take part in fast pass plus they are they are the core of their business. i go three to four times a year and stay at board walk in on room only and buy an ap each year. now their going to say i cant use fast pass plus or those turn styles then what pisss of guest willing to spend money on aps and who are loyal to their resorts.

because it will speed it up and make it eaiser on disney and the guest and will also save disney some labor once they get it open an running but might also coast disney labor and money other places. like now if they do all them like this and the new exit system they my need to put a security cm to watch and put extra cms when busy to help.

plus their was pictures of paper tickets having the rfid chip in them. while yes the fast pass plus system will most likely just be for resort guest to do ahead of time i still think they will have machines somewhere in the park for off site guest and those rare florida residents.

my guess would be they may do it slowly with the aps like the credit card companies here in Canada have done with chip and pin and the rfid cards. They send those out with new cards, replacements for lost/ stolen cards and for expired ones, rather then do it all at once. So maybe some time in the new year they will start issuing RFID card to the APs, mainly to keep cost down and it's easier to do it when someone renews it then having to mail out to every one who has one currently.

your right i don't expect them to do it over night it might take them awhile to change them that why their not changing all the turn styles yet. plus i think they want to see how it works in action i know they tested them but sometimes seeing them in action gets you better view then testing. plus if they decide to use the new exit system their might be more room then before.

i think since these are small they could move bag check in front then when you exit bag check you scan your ticket. and have them to the side for no bags. that will speed it up a lot more and keep it from guest just walking by.

I use an ECV. I like this idea - it looks as though I can use the finger scanner just like everyone else does. It also is a happy thought to know that no one will have to open a gate for me to enter & exit.

I LOVE having the chance to be just like everyone else. The old system of someone else having to scan my ticket FOR me made me "feel" handicapped. If this new RFID system works - then I can scan my own ticket, and not feel as if I need assistance just to enter the park.

I am impressed! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Yes you will be able to use the finger scanner it be on the right and lower then the scanner they look like their a good length that make it possible for everyone the chance to use it. Their some many people they will benefit from this change for once it a good change and not taking something away or making it harder for guest in wheelchairs and ECV.

They also testing and not sure how far they are with it a new exit system that would use cameras to count you and you wouldn't need to go through the turnstiles or have the gate open. So now you would have both way not needing to wait for the gate to open that would speed up every thing but not sure if the test was successfully they did it at mk. I am sure they want to focus on the entrance then work on the exit part.

Thanks, Disney David! I CAN use the scanner! I CAN be NORMAL! :thumbsup2

Thanks again! I can't wait until April! This is good - something I feel especially good about!

Normal - obviously open to me, too! :thumbsup2

Just so you know that looks like a picture of the ones that they used to test the system in Epcot, so they may not be the ones actually in use. Never mind just goggled it and found pictures of them in more permanent structures at MK, Epcot and the studios.

They are the same just painted to mach the park their at and they have a scanner for the ticket and a finger scanner.

Is the finger scanner low enough for a person in a WC to be able to use it unassisted?

It should be because it Lower then the scanner well when they was doing testing their was rumor that the device could be lowered for a kid or wc. But not sure if that happened but it looks like you should not have a problem and it lower then the turn styles one.

Their adding more RFID turnstiles o dhs and Epcot already and I am sure they will to ak and mk if not already so their going full steam ahead with making better way to enter the park.
