OT: Anyone doing "26 acts of random kindness"?

I was just wondering if ayone else was particpating in "26.. or 20... or 27... or whatever number... acts of random kindness"? Since this is a nice "anonymous" forum, I was hoping to share ideas. I have children that are particpating as well. I'd love to hear any ideas anyone has for children.

In case anyone is wondering... it's not about boasting. It's about sharing ideas and inspring others to do the same.

Today I bought $10 Dunkin Donuts giftcards and left a few on the windshields of police cars with a little note that said "Thanks for all you do. 26 acts to remember Sandy Hook Elementary".

I don't have a ton of money... anyone have other ideas of small, anonymous "gifts"?

I did 8 of 26 at my office today. I bought the newspaper for the guy who is behind me very morning in line at the newsstand. I left sticky notes on the soda machine at work with a note that said 26 acts of kindness.....I bought you a soda....please pay it forward. I put the money in and walked away. I heard the soda machine stayed loaded all day...no one put there money back in their pocket. They took the soda from the money that was in there and then put more in for the next person. I bought candy bars and left them on a few people's desk with same note as above. It made me feel so good...for the first time all week, since the tragedy. I plan on doing more tomorrow.

My kids made snowflakes tonight and I will mail them to that group that's going to put them in the temporary school for the Sandy Hook kids.

Every Christmas, my husband gives the 7-11 clerk $20, and asks him to treat the first 10 people who buy coffee, courtesy of Santa.

My religious ed class wrote letters to the Red Cross on Friday (to be delivered tomorrow, when my husband has the chance.) They've been on Long Island for almost 2 months now, away from their homes and families, helping us recover from the storm.

Each year since 9/11, we've gone to the local fire and police stations on Christmas Eve with a tray of wrapped candies, as a Thank You. (This year the Red Cross is also getting one.)

OHHH! scratch offs are a great idea! I hadn't even considered that!

Love those ideas...I can see what I can do tonight as my granddaughter has her Christmas concert...I will be able to do somethere keep those ideas coming and thank you for thinking of this

My dd14's Sunday school small group went out after church this past Sunday and bought a couple of car wash gift cards and put them under the wipers of the dirty cars in the parking lot of the grocery. They also went to the mall and put quarters on the kiddie rides for the children to ride for free.

There is a grass-roots project under way to decorate their new school with homemade snowflakes to create a winter wonderland.

Trying for 26 here.......I think I am on #9. SOme things I have done:

1. Paid for the car behind me at Starbucks drive thru
2. Saw an elderly handicapped lady in the Walmart parking lot struggling to get her groceries in her trunk - helped her load up
3. Taped candy canes and a note to the ATM at the bank
4. delivered goodies to the fire station on Christmas Eve

Tomorrow I plan to load up the soda machine at work with quarters!

My DS7 was the recipient of 26Acts this past weekend...a random lady approached us after a musical performance and told him that he was a very sweet boy and his good behavior should be rewarded. She then tried to give him a $20 bill. He told her that he isn't allowed to accept anything from strangers...but the lady insisted and shoved the money into my mother's hand, winked at him, then walked away. Will definitely be paying it forward in the days to come. We live about 30 minutes from Sandy Hook.

I also cut out some coupons for cold and flu meds and plan to leave them by the products at Target tomorrow. Also taking the rest of the coupons and instead of throwing them away, I am going to leave them in the teacher's lounge at my DD's school for anyone who wants them.

I was just able to pay forwarded yesterday..everytime I have been in line for coffee, either there was no car behind me or I only had enough $ for my coffee...I have left coupons, made pictures off from a Christmas concert in my granddaughters room for a parent,. I stayed several minutes in a classroom to help out when teachers were at a funeral mass, that's just to name a few I have done...If I left the house more often, I would be able to do more, so I do as much as I can when I do get to town...keep those ideas coming please..
