Hi all! I've been working with my Cricut (v2.34) and SCAL (1 or 2??) for quite a few years now with no problems whatsoever....you know what's coming, right? All of a sudden, my computer is not recognizing my Cricut. I did not physically do anything to either machine and I have since googled every possible question I can think of and still can't seem to get things working. My SCAL program works fine. My Cricut works fine. They just won't work together. Has this happened to anyone before??? I'm waiting to borrow a friend's machine to see if that helps, but I'm really scared I'm going to have to change my whole way of doing things! If I have to buy a new brand machine, what do you suggest? Thanks in advance! I'm so sad and frustrated all at the same time.

P.S. I hope me posting this doesn't seem completely insensitive to the tragedy that happened yesterday. I completely realize there's much bigger issues than my cricut. :grouphug:

Kelly,

I'm going to move this to the scrapbooking forum of the creative community boards so the members that are our "experts" can help you.. they sometimes don't see the posts in the art/crafts section.

Someone will be around to help shortly..

Kelly,

I'm going to move this to the scrapbooking forum...

Thanks - I wasn't quite sure where to put it!

I did a search in the craft edge forumn & that is what I found
have updated the firmware??

thanks - that's the majority of what my google searches told me to do, but it hasn't helped any. I've done that several times now! I have not physically done any updates to my cricut. Is it possible that it could be updated automatically just being plugged into my computer??

I've had this problem before. Have you tried re-booting your computer? That has helped me before, also, maybe try a different cord to connect the cricut to the computer. Good luck!

I would send an email to SCAL support... they are awesome.

And in the meantime, I would try to download the driver for the SCAL, and try re-installing the driver.

Had something similar happen as it turned out my usb port had gone bad, didn't work at all, see if maybe you have a different port.

I'm not 100% certain, but I thought Cricut and SCAL were no longer compatible.

if you do any more updates or upgrade to SCAL3 then it doesn't work
those of us who had it before the lawsuits can still use it

so when my cricut dies - I'm buying something else & giving away my carts (thinking to a school if my sister doesn't want them)
