When we go next December, can we check out at 1 instead of 11? We are staying at Wilderness Lodge. I figured I would get up early and do the last of our laundry before packing (can't stand coming home with dirty clothes). Then we can eat breakfast and head to Downtown Disney for a little last minute shopping before heading back and catching the Magical Express bus to the airport.

You can request a late check out from the front desk during your stay. They put the request into housekeeping and it is approved or not based on the scheduled check in/check out. 2 times we have been allowed to check out at 1pm and once we could not because the resort already had as many late check outs as they would allow. I think a lot will depend on when you are going in December.

We got an hour extended checkout but stayed in the room until 2. It was raining and we didn't want to wait for ME in the lobby.Mousekeeping came by once and told us to go whenever we were ready.

We called housekeeping (who must approve any late check outs) when we were at AKL this past Sept. We asked for a late check out and was told they could only allow us until 12N. At 11:50am a housekeeper knocked and told us we had to get out, as she had to get the room ready for the next guest. We were just getting ready to walk out anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. I've asked for a late check out at POFQ three times and was denied all three times. I was also denied a late checkout at Pop once. It just depends on how many rooms housekeeping has to get ready that morning.

If you are staying at the villas, no, you cannot stay until 1PM. Check out for DVC resorts is strictly enforced because it takes longer to clean the villas for the next guest. But you can leave your belongings with Bell Services and they will hold them until you are scheduled to depart.

A person requesting late check out should also be aware that even if "approved" you may be charged a fee for the late mouse-keeping. The fee can vary and I recall ours was a bit steep [and a surprise!]

How selfish and inconsiderate.
It is behavior like this that results in rooms not being ready for the next guest to check in to.

Of course only if it is available. Otherwise, they can store our luggage until we get back.

You can ask.

I've asked for late checkout twice and been turned down both times. Both times were in mid-June. Now I don't bother.

In some instances, they will allow late check out but only with a fee. They don't have to give a courtesy late check-out, even if mousekeeping can swing it. Depends on who you ask.

We've gotten lucky and each time (at least 3) gotten late checkout (1pm) at CSR. We were told there was no fee for the 1pm check out but if we wanted to stay till 4 there would be a half day fee (~$75).
