Rainforest in San Juan without hiking?

My mom will be about 5 months post-surgery (complete knee replacement) and will not be up to hiking through the rainforest. However, she would really like to at least see it. I would also like DS8 to see a rainforest but not sure he would enjoy hiking through it either.

So, is there any way to experience/see a little of the rainforest without actually trekking through it?

I am sure there are, I have been to Puerto rico several times by plane, not cruise, I have been to the El Yunque rainforest twice, last spring break was with our kids, 7 and 10. We drove to the rain forsest. I am sure there are some expeditions that do not involve hiking. Both times we have gone we just stick to the roads and looked for vistas to pull over at, the rain forest also has some look out towers that you can stop at and climb up the stairs if you want.

So it is very doable without hiking, just check some tour excursions, I would stick with DCL sponsored excusrions. The rainforst is well over a hour drive from San Juan, if a DCL sponsored excursion is late for the ship, the ship will wait. Lots of unknowns can happen, i.e. bus break down, flat tire, etc.

Last time we went, there was not a cloud in the sky. It was beautiful.

I checked with Carlos and unfortunately he is already booked that day. Anyone else comparable?

I have read all the excursion descriptions for San Juan and the rainforest ones all seem to involve a fair amount of hiking. We usually do stick with the cruiseline excursions (just my own piece of mind). Can anyone recommend an excursion from another provider that would just be a visit and not a hike?
