The Official 2012 Elf Capades Thread

This was super easy for me - it was a local girl scout troop that did this, it's their fundraiser right now! So they flocked my yard for $30, including all the santa hats and scarves, and printed out a note I made for my daughter to attach to the lead flamingo. It was awesome! Best money I've spent on the elf so far. :) My kids went nuts!

Such a cool fundraiser. I've never seen the holiday version done around here. So cute!

AHHHHH!!! You guys are so creative!! Buddy has made a snow angel in flour and that's about the best I could come up with.

Rainbow was found hanging upside down from the cord on the shades in the kitchen windows and the windows were decorated with gel clings. Man, were those a pain to get on though! I also just picked up 2 small mugs with ceramic spoons (Mickey/Minnie mugs) from Target and those will come one morning from Rainbow with hot cocoa, marshmallows and such for breakfast. DD has a small holiday mug from her grandmother but DS doesn't and really wants one. this way they will both be happy. Will set Rainbow up playing a game coming up soon. And she'll decorate the bathroom with paper snowflakes.

Tonight PJ is going to photocopy his *ahem* backside on the copier :rolleyes1

This was a hit :rotfl:. I was appropriately outraged at the misuse of my copier and my 11yo refused my 8yo's requested to hang the picture up on their bedroom wall :rotfl2:.

Last night I asked DH to build a little structure of Legos/mega blocks around Alisa, leaving her feet and head peeking out. I was expecting a small box like structure.

He built a 4 foot tower with Alisa sticking out the top. He had Barbie dolls dangling everywhere off and inside this tower. I didn't realize how many Barbies she had. :rotfl: Then he had each of the Barbie Disney princesses sitting around the base of the structure. DH did such a great job.

Note to self: no Barbies for Christmas....oh wait, I bought a Barbie and little girl Barbie dressed in Disney park outfits for Christmas:lmao:

Last night PJ took a boat ride in a bowl in the kids' bathtub. Tonight he re-labeled all of the stockings with his name and the kids will find him in one of the stockings with the painter's tape and sharpie.

I'm stealing that stocking idea! Yesterday dd10 and I had a conversation about Yelf stealing a lot of our candy. She informed me that we had plenty and she didn't mind if he ate our candy. Well, the kids have buckets of Halloween candy labeled with their names. Yelf was in her bucket sitting in only wrappers. Our elf ate all of her Halloween candy.

So the eating dd's Halloween candy idea was a bomb. She is very dramatic and cried for 5 minutes straight before throwing our elf in the trash. Very disappointing considering she even said we have a ton of candy in the house. So our elf will be avoiding her for a while.

On Saturday night, Twinkle removed all non-Disney ornaments from the tree and was holding our favorite Mickey ornament when we got up. The kids laughed the whole time they were redecorating. He is a BAD elf!:rotfl2:

This morning Yelf was found in the kids' bathroom. He "borrowed" my lipstick and wrote "YELF WAS HERE!" on the mirror.

I'm going to Barnes and Noble today to get a book of the Christmas story. Yelf is going to be somewhere tomorrow reading that book and holding the baby Jesus from the manger scene. Trying to incorporate a reminder about how Christmas started.

Some awesome ideas thank you!!!

Oooh Boy - that is a tough one - but I can see it happening in my house on certain days.

Eve will show up at our home tonight. My DD has a giddie up and go pony that broke a few months ago. She cried for almost a week every time she she saw the broken pony in the garage so we had to move it to the shed. I gave DH a job today .... fix that pony! So, tonight the pony is fixed and in the family room with Eve sitting on top. After all elves know how to make and fix toys! She also left tools all over the house (she is not too good at cleaning up after herself!)

She will arrive with a journal this year as DD is 6 and can read and write a bit. I'm hoping that DD will write to her, ask her questions and then of course in the middle of her mischief she will reply. (we will see - this may be too much to ask)

I also have found a couple other cute ideas when visiting the elf-magic site.

Fill the sink with a bag of mini marshmellows - snow ball bath.
Use an old pillow and the elf can take it apart and put the fill around - snow.

Yep. Our Elf stopped getting into trouble after that. He's just sitting in different places now.

Aww, maybe he could bring your DD some Christmas candy to replace the Halloween candy he ate. That reminds me, I read an idea somewhere (pinterest maybe) where one night the elf was caught cutting out coupons for candy, cookies and ham and the next night he brought candy he bought using the coupons.

Last night PJ shot suction cup nerf darts onto the back door in the shape of a Christmas tree. The kids were pretty impressed, they said he was a good shot.

This morning DD found Alisa making a snow angel with rice krispies and DD commented that she is making a snow angel and then said, “She’s making a mess.”:lmao:

The day before, she found Alisa reading Twas the Night Before Christmas to a semi circle of stuffed animals and dolls but she immediately cleaned it up, saying that she was afraid of getting into trouble for her playroom being a mess.

Apparently she thinks Alisa is messy.

That's cute, I wish my kids cared about a mess

Last night he was bungee jumping from the second floor bannister with a slinky. Well, the youngest two thought he was bungee jumping, my twisted 16yo said it looked like suicide :rotfl2:

That was my coupon cutting elf :lmao:.

Fortunately she FINALLY calmed down about the candy. Since then we have limited his shenanigans. Today he was found riding ds' monster truck.

oops  I've spent way too much time online researching elf ideas :rotfl2:

I'm glad she calmed down.
