New Test Track VIP entrance

I would assume not, since GM is no longer the sponsor. It's now Chevrolet.

Yes they do - not sure if it is open or not yet but will try and check back later tonight with the answer.

But isn't Chevrolet just a brand of GM? I don't know anything about the VIP lounge, but it seems like it's a semantic change so it could still exist...
Yes, Chevy is a part of GM, so Chevy employees would also be GM employees (maybe - depending on the corporate structures). But not the other way around - every GM employee is not a Chevy employee. GM is the parent company, but they are not the same. If there is still an employee VIP lounge, it would likely be limited to Chevy employees.

But that's just my logic. Corporate sponsorship logic may be different.

I am hearing not yet open from a cm who sometimes works in that area and open to all GM employees by an employee with GM lounge employees.

Chevy is a brand not a seperate company. My husband works for GM. Everyone at GMis a GM employee regardless of the brand they are working on. I'm glad someone else had at least a little info about this. We are going next week and we were wondering if they still had it. Hopefully it's open when we get there!

That's my theory, as well. Sort of like how brand managers for Sprite and Mello Yello still get the benefits extended to employees of Coca Cola.

I don't know about now, but before the renovation, my brother-in-law would have been able to use the VIP entrance because he works for a company that is one of GM's bigger suppliers.

Cool--didn't know about this.

Does it apply to retired employees?
MIL worked at GM 30+ years and is due to go to the World with us again. . .
although her wig flew off last time she rode TT. . .
Thankfully she has a good sense of humor (and quick reflexes) and we all had a good laugh about it.

You could ask but as far as I know you have to have a current GM ID

So is the GM lounge open for Test Track or not? We'll be there over New Year's and I do have a GM Id. This has worked great in the past as you don't need to get a fastpass, but it basically works the same to avoid the standby line. I haven't heard anyone saying that they have used the GM VIP entrance yet so I'm thinking that it isn't open so soon after the refurb.

... and you got free soft drinks/coffee with access to nice bathroom facilities.

Please post if anyone has an answer either way. Thx

In the rush to finish the ride on time the lounge was essentially abandoned for a while.

During CM and friends/family previews you could see the lounge still having the old ceiling torn down for the new one to be put up. It's not done and probably wont be for a while.

Yes it applies to retirees. My MIL could always get us in when she was with us. Came I handy when my husband was back at the hotel on those trips.

Update from our NYE visit regarding the GM Test Track lounge.

I asked a cast member if the GM lounge was open and they informed me that it was not yet ready. They were working on it and said that it would be ready in the future. No time table was really known. No surprise for Disney.

The good part though was that your GM Id got you a free fast pass for the ride! We were there NYE and it was crazy crowded (no surprise). We saw waits posted for Test Track as high as 300 minutes (Lines app showed actuals about an hour less). You need to go into the exit of the ride where the car showroom is and go up to the desk. They log your Id and give you a special fastpass for the ride good for any time that day. We had 6 people in our party. We came back in the evening after our ADR and rode when it was convenient for us. It couldn't have been a better thing for that day as all of the rides had lines so long that our family wouldn't ride them.

They even gave us our RFID cards and pointed us to 3 design terminals in the exit area that we could use to go through the design process. You may even be able to use this if you fastpass the ride as long as you have a key. Go into the exit and pick up one. They are everywhere.

During the exit of the evening, they had they traffic bypass routes from World Showcase to Future World open. We walked by the back of Test Track and they did have signs that pointed to a door for the GM Lounge so it does exist. It just doesn't seem to be ready for public usage yet.

GM and Test Track Rock!

Just wanted to check in and see if the lounge was open yet. The first time I went to Disney I didn't know and hadn't brought my ID. By the second visit GM was having money issues and the lounge was closed but we got to bypass and go in the back way and got to ride ahead (like they do with the celebs.) They had us do the same the third time. They opened the lounge back up after that visit and than put the ride down all together for my 4th Disney visit.

I sure would like to use it once for my 30 years with GM and the DH's 48 years with the company. By the way, at one time where I worked was Chevrolet. GM changed the name every so often to keep it interesting.

1) All GM employees and retirees are allowed - with proper ID badge.
2) Lounge is not open yet.
. . . yes, it is planned
. . . no, there is not a lot of work going on at the moment
. . . no, there is not a "due date" for the opening

NOTE: This comes from an employee at Electric Umbrella who walks
by to every day and talks to TT employees. Take it for face value.
