Disappointed

What a shame. I truly prayed for that woman everyday and her story really touched me. Funny how in the middle of that thread I and a few others were concerned it was all a sham and then brushed it off, and now we know it really was a sham.

I was one of those people who questioned it as a possible sham. But, I was never completely sure. I went back and forth on it. In the end I chose to give the OP my support in case it was real. I thought if it was real, anyone in that position would need support.

Until now, I have never question people who say they created a new Dis name to ask for helpful opinions on an issue that they can't ask the people in their real life. I've done that once when I was dealing with a real problem years ago. The opinions of strangers who didn't know me really helped. i think that is why i chose to offer the OP my support. But, like another poster said, most of those posters get their help and move on.

I have always found the majority of people on the Dis to be kind, helpful and friendly bunch. I am proud of how so many showed virtual support to someone in need. I probably would still offer support in the future, but I certainly would never consider sending money or gifts.

As for Christmas... I didn't do much decorating this year. Just wasn't into it... But, my kids are having so much fun with the Elf on the Shelf. We just started it this year.

I also plan on starting my wrapping tonight when the kids go to bed.

I think I am most disappointed that the so excited Grandfather really didn't exist....

I felt really bad that someone would have to go through this saga. I know that people sometimes do, but it seems a little farfetched that this could be entertaining to someone?!?! I really don't get it, however, a lot of good advice was given & a lot of dis-sers showed how caring & supportive they can be.

The moderators got to prove that they are pretty wonderful & on top of things too. (Which is pretty cool considering the number of different posters you see on the boards daily!)

The DIS rocks!

Don't feel too bad, those Grandpa do exist, well maybe without the singing :rotfl2:

Dang, we got burned! I started to send her a nice message about cutting the baby's daddy loose (I had experienced a jerk of a baby daddy too) but for some reason I just kept putting it off. Maybe that was my intuition, or I just got lazy!

Maybe we should start rating each other as "trusted posters" kinda like sellers on EBay!

I bought into it too. Same here lousy baby daddy( anulled the marriage so I will never say xH). All I could think was what she is going through BTDT. Now I want to find her and slap her silly.

I do believe in Karma - so universe - DO YOUR WORK!!!

I didn't think about that. I'll ask my brother if he knows about her and candles. Scarves are good too (I only know because her fb pic is her in a scarf :P) - I could get her one from here I suppose! I was planning to get some for my aunts, so one more to the pile isn't bad :)

We got DS's girlfriend a hat from American Eagle and a matching scarf from Target. :)

I agree with this completely! The wonderful and caring people here are what makes the DIS so special.

Totally agree with the above ::yes::

I would just like to say I second/third this.

can't begin to understand what makes a person tick, so best not to try.:confused3

're children's delivery dates;
dd1- 14 days early
dd2- on time!
ds- 12 days late

Christmas- oh my gosh- sooooo much still to do,need Santa's little helpers. :rotfl:

Also read along and I think I may have responded. We were on vacation so I didn't realize it was locked. I guess that is the "question" we all would love to answer. What makes people tick?

I am so not ready for Christmas. As for due dates, my first was 6 weeks early and my second 4 weeks early. So delivering on a due date would have never put a ping on my radar.

Happy Holidays to Everyone!!! :santa:

I am so disappointed to find out it is fake. It was easy for me to believe because if people (not family or close friends) hear all of the rare medical issues my family has had it is unbelievable. So believing weird stories is easy for me. But I never even considered sending her money or gifts.

Christmas is DONE.... If I would stop checking all my coupon sites that is. Tree went up on thanksgiving presents are wrapped as I buy them. The only thing I have left to do is put gift cards into a foam tree for my kids from Santa. Oh and I do have to make the gluten free stuffing for Christmas dinner but that is it, my parents are planning very carefully for me to eat safely.

Early on in that thread there was speculation about whether or not it was the truth. I said at that time that I hoped this was a troll, because I would hate to think that someone was actually going through this. I still feel that way.

The one thing that struck me was how much the story sounded like Laci Peterson's life. Or at least what her story would have been if she had been able to get away from that monster Scott Peterson. Think about it, seven months pregnant with a boy, find out that scumbag husband is having an affair and doesn't want to be a father, and she and husband lived in California.

And I forgot to add, all of my Christmas shopping is done and all presents are wrapped.

I never even thought about it.... How the stories were so similar. Scary

I forgot to add...

I'm not done with Christmas, but hope to be so this week.

My first one was 2 days late, and my second one was 6 days late.

Been away at WDW the last week, surprised to see this thread still going. Goes to show how many of us got taken in by her story. :headache:

I've made a little progress with gifts and wrapping, cards and decorating. I may bake some cookies next weekend if I can get myself motivated.

Ds was over a week late, he just did NOT want to come out. :faint:

:rotfl2: I had to chuckle a little bit.
My first child came 14 days early.
My second came right on his due date.

I SWEAR I'm the real deal. :flower3: What you see (read) is what you get!

(Just having fun with you.... ;) )

I never read the entire thread. Checked out a post or two early on and read the ending after it was closed to see what happened. Sorry she sucked in so many people and I hope no one was hurt by it.

As for Christmas, I am so NOT ready. But I'll get there once finals week is over.

I am also for real, my firstborn was born on his due date. No medical intervention necessary. My other 2 are adopted and they arrived on the agreed upon date :)

Everyone knows 1st time moms usually go late, and just about no one has the baby on their actual due date!

Aha...this is why due dates started popping up on this thread. :)

I'm one of those first time moms that had their baby on their due date & not only that but she arrived after 3 hours of labor -- although I suppose I was in labor earlier but I had no idea....basically *thought* it might be labor called the doctor, doc said to wait until closer together & then oops water broke -- went to hospital. Three hours later baby was born.

I really freaked out though and thought something was seriously wrong since all you ever hear is how you are supposed to have these super long labors and well...mine wasn't. I was a bit freaked out that it was happening quickly -- so I do like to tell first time moms that it CAN go quickly.

By the time I got to baby #4 -- I did get a strange look when I told them how far apart the contractions were but then did the "fast labors, big babies & it is #4" and got the "Oh" look on why I was there at that point.

My other 3 were pretty close to due dates - always a bit late but within a week or so but only my first was exactly on her due date.

Yep, I went early with my first by two weeks. I was very surprised when my water broke.

I had a scheduled c-section with the second, 2 weeks ahead of due date. Thank goodness the doc listened to me when we scheduled the date. I was in a pretty regular, active labor pattern when I checked in to the hospital. Contractions were less than 5 minutes apart.

And I'm still not ready for Christmas. I finally have a tree up and I've bought a few presents. It still looks like I'll be last-minute shopping this weekend. Bummer.

This thread reminds me a lot of the true story "Find Me" by Rosie O'Donnell. In the book she talks about a fan she meets online that claimed to be a pregnant (very young maybe 12-13 year old) teenager. Eventually she discovers the person was a grown adult suffering from multiple personality disorder. :faint:

She's gone. Both of her. :)

And put up our tree last Sunday and finished decorating it last night!

She will find a way to get back, they always do.

I was cynical because she seemed so rational. If that happened to me......I have 2 words.................... Lorana Bobbet :rotfl2:

I got sucked in and started to really believe it when one of the Moderators said she was going to get her address because I knew they have way of knowing who is posting because of the IP

So I am chalking this one up to it was an entertaining fairy tale. Hell, I don't believe Cinderella either but I still love to hear the tale!

Lisa

we once ran into a person who was a very good liar........ sold a friend a horse (across country) & it arrived wrong breed & spray painted!!:scared1:

.

What?! While this is shameful, I couldn't help but laugh.
