What should we wear arrival day?

So here's my scenario: Leaving from a cooler area on Monday, forecasted to be 45-50 degrees when we get to our home airport (5 am or so). When we arrive at MCO it looks like it will be into the 70s and climbing to a high of 80. We currently plan on grabbing our bags, grabbing our rental car and going straight to Disney Studios, and checking into our hotel after Fantasmic. My DH is absolutely obsessed with not over packing...to the point he was telling me at dinner last night I have to make cuts in what I am packing, and I haven't even started packing yet, lol! I am trying to be very conscious of not over packing, but this time of year seems tricky!

So I am trying to figure out how we should dress for the trip there...tshirts, hoodies, shorts and run for the terminal (we will get dropped off right at the airport curb)? Pants, coats, l/s shirts and ditch stuff in the car once we get to the park? Pack warm weather stuff in the carry-on so its easy to grab and change at the park? Keep in mind I have a 4 year old who doesn't seem to get cold. Or hot for that matter if you ask him...he's just weird, lol.

I know I am over thinking, but I just can't make up my mind what's easiest. Thanks!

If you can tolerate the cold, then wear your shorts to the airport. You can wear your warm coats since they will be easy to stash in the rental car when you get to Orlando. And you want something warm for the cool nights.

If you decide to wear long pants to the airport then I would change at the airport when you land in Orlando. If you change at the park you would have to change in the parking lot  or carry your clothes in with you.

Pack whatever you want and don't pack anything for him if all he can do to help is be critical...
I know this doesn’t help much and may make for domestic tension, but wouldn't it be fun to tell him "I cut a few things to keep our bags lighter..."
(As a man who actually helps with the packing and does all of the planning I can say this…)

Seriously.
We arrive tomorrow and will be doing the layer plan. Short sleeve tee, long sleeve tee and light jacket. We can peel off the layers as it warms up and put them back on as evening comes. Also, I also don’t need five pairs of everything for a 4 night trip (except underwear and socks) plan to reuse jeans and other outer garments.

Have a great trip and don’t stress over the packing too much!

and

I wish, lol! He's seriously driving me insane...although he will pack his own stuff, so I can't complain there:)

I frequently travel between Denver and Orlando. In Denver's cold months to get to the airport, I wear lightweight cotton capris and a short sleeve shirt then put a hoodie or coat over it. I run warm, so I'm usually fine when I arrive in the airport pulling off the warm outer layer and putting it in my suitcase before checking. If it's really cold in Denver, I'll wear knee socks and/or ballet leg warmers that I pull off and stick in my suitcase before checking the bag. A skirt with leggings also works. The leggings are easy to pull off either before you leave your airport or after you get to Orlando.

We were just in this situation last week. I put the kids in light weight sweat pants. Disney tshirts and heavy sweat jackets. When we got on the plane they took off their coats and kept them of. I had jeans a tank and a hoodie, when we got off the plane I took off the hoodie. I blasted the air in the rental for a bit then we changed when we checked in. I wasn't overly hot. I think I would have been if we were touring parks like that but just from airport to the car to the lobby to the room we were comfortable.

We wore lightweight sweat pants & tee shirts each day. We each had a heavy hoodie that we used each night. It was the week after Thanksgiving & it got cold at night.

The sweat pants were not out of place. They also weren't too hot during the day. Brought capris, didn't use them.

I would wear jeans and pack shorts in your carryon, change at the airport.

What are the temps in your local area likely to be on your return home? Will you need long sleeves and pants to be comfortable on your return? If yes, I would wear them down and pack shorts and t's in your carry on. Change in the airport, only takes a minute or two.

It's probably just me, but I don't think 45-50 is too cold. In that weather, I would wear shorts or yoga pants and a hoodie. I run hot and have new England blood, though.

I'm a capri girl. I admit it. 50 and capris is fine for me, although I'm loving someone else's suggestion of leg warmers. I might use that idea. I'd personally go with t-shirt, polar fleece, capris, if you are feeling the cold, leg warmers. Then pack for yourself capris and shorts, you can always wear the same capris/legwarmer combo when you get back.

I'd say your husband should figure out his own stuff.

And I'd see if you can find zip leg pants for your son. I remember having a few pairs for my son when he was younger and they worked great for those odd days. I did find some online but you might have better luck in your area.

In theory a friend and I are supposed to go to WDW in February. Unfortunately when we go is when we usually hit our coldest temps so if we are lucky it will 30s and if we are unlucky negative teens. I plan on wearing jeans, maybe a sweater with t-shirt underneath and a fleece with mittens. Lots of layers to shed as needed. Course I'm also currently trying to figure out if I can pack all my clothes in a carry on only. We'll see.

I usually change in the airport. I wear old clothes on the plane and throw them in the garbage at the airport.

We had the same discussion yesterday as we are going straight to a park too. I'm going to wear sweatpants over my shorts, the shirt I'm wearing to the park and a cardigan I'm bringing to the park. My DH is going to do the same for tops but change from pants to shorts at the airport. Easier because we are bringing decent sized carryons.

We often travel with temperature changes even greater than what you describe- it'll probably be around 20 when we depart on Thursday. We almost always wear long sleeves and long pants on the plane (all year around- I agree that airports/airplanes are cold). Not jeans, though. Usually lightweight travel or hiking pants, which are also nice enough to wear out to dinner plus you can wear them when it's hot. Then a light fleece jacket and a lightweight rain shell. So, basically layers. The kids sometimes wear hiking pants that zip off into shorts.

But we actually don't often take sweatshirts or jeans. They take up too much space, don't dry out it they get wet and weigh too much. If you really want to pack light, travel/outdoors clothing made of synthetic microfiber is the way to go. All I ever take is a rolling carry-on bag and small tote, but I rarely run out of clothes. If I do, these things are super easy to wash- you can even do it in the sink, and they dry quickly.

You should wear the same thing you'd wear at home if the high was going to be in the upper 70s.

I never understand why people cannot figure out how to dress themselves because they are in a different area, lol. It isn't a insult, OP! You are so not alone in this! It's like being in a new place makes people totally lose all their normal, good sense.

I'd wear capris and a light top and take a sweater or jacket.

I don't know if that would be okay with your husband or how the two of you work things out, though. Have you discussed this with him?
