EBPC December 9, 2012!!! PART 2

Good morning, fellow travelers!

Packing finished, checked in for flight, printed boarding passes, printed directions to the airport, printed packing list so I can double check everything obsessively until 3:15 AM when it's time to leave for the airport:rotfl:. Also printed hotel confirmations and Amtrak tickets for the return trip.

Now all I have to do is get through today here at work and take care of last minute stuff like making sure my plants are all watered, anything perishable is out of the refrigerator, and the heat is turned down and we can leave. I suppose somewhere in there I ought to take a nap, but I've been to excited to sleep for the last two nights, so I doubt I'll get much sleep tonight!

We started our trip out with the dreaded words "aircraft has mechanical difficulties". With a tight connection in Houston things were looking bad. But, the fix was quick and we are sitting on the CA bound flight so all is good!

I have been following your thread since we are on the WBPC in May and wanted to say have a Wonderful trip:)

Well, I'd hate to see what it would look like if I had not tried to "pack light"!

It's not even the clothes, it's all the "stuff". Like my little bag of office supplies (gotta have my supplies). Vitamins, first aid/just-in-case medicines, laundry supplies. It all adds up.

For the fellow obsessive packers, I am now in the "Oh, maybe we also need..." phase.

Everything is printed, passports in the bag and today DS will help with laundry and last-minute packing. The dog gets dropped off at the ranch tonight, we eat pancakes for dinner to use up eggs and milk, and then I think we are good to go. Woohoo! Can't believe it's here!

Plenty of fog here on the coast near LAX. Hopefully it won't effect your arrival.

We are 60% packed. I have all of my necessities packed and only my carry-on of electrical and bath stuff to pack. My DW is only 20% packed and is packing as I type.

I still have Christmas lights to put up on the house. Hopefully I can get that done today or tomorrow. If not, Santa will have a hard time finding our house.

See y'all in 2 days.

Just got back from picking up a friend at LAX, no delay on her flight and FOX 11 news is flying their helicopter for the traffic and weather report so everyone should be ok! :thumbsup2

One Christmas vacation I was flying from Washington, DC to LAX. About an hour into the flight we were told that LAX was currently fogged in and had been fogged in for two days. The pilot didn't know if we were going to be diverted to either San Diego or San Francisco. My final destination was San Diego, and I had relatives in San Francisco so either was ok with me. As we approached LAX we were told that the fog had cleared, and we would be landing there. After I deplaned, I was met with waves of people who had been stuck at the airport for 1 or 2 days. I had never see so many people standing, sitting, laying down in seats and halls. I literally had to fight my way through as I was trying to make a connection. Obviously my connection was delayed but I finally got on and it departed. It was on PSA (Pacific Southwest Airlines). It was known as the champagne airlines. As we were making the 45min flight from LAX to San Diego, crew staff were making the rounds with magnums of champagne. Up and down the isle. Filling empty glasses that were held up. I must have had 4 or 5 glasses of the stuff before landing. After landing I discovered that my luggage was missing. One of the pieces was a large globe that I had picked up at the National Geographic store in DC (a present for my brother). That was the thing I was most panicked about. It took them 3 days to find it and all was well.. So fog at LAX can be a tricky thing.

!

I'm right there with you. For three of us we have 6 checked plus 4 carry ons. I know I overpacked but I NEED my stuff.
We are in the van driving to Pittsburgh on a rainy, grey, overcast day. California here I come!

It's a cold, rainy, nasty day here at the beautiful Jersey Shore. I can't wait to be where it will be warm(er) and sunny(ier)!

Three hours and 15 minutes of work and then I'm out of here until next year!!!!

We did RSR. The line to get a fast pass was 45 min. Rhr line starts at front of park! We then got in single rider and waited 25 min. That inluded a break down. Our fast pass is for 11:15. So not too bad. We got them at 8:45.
still chilly, but we have shorts and are good.

My mom is doing much better - she is out of hospital now which is really good. So jealous of all of you packing/travelling right now.

Get a FP for the Soarin' Over CA, or do the single rider option. The line out front looks short, but it's not!!!

Wow, that is amazing. We have two checked bags and two carry-ons for the two of us and I thought that was a bit much.

Any ideas regarding how to satisfy a child's concern about whether Santa can get into the hotel room to deliver presents? We haven't told the kids about this a post-cruise WDW stop yet, but I could see how they might be a little concenred if we spring it on them on 12/23. Figured I'd see if any of you could offer any suggestions.

We have three checked bags and two carry-ons. One of those carry ons has all of my knitting and electronics, the other has DH's meds, his Nook and our cameras. The smallest of the checked bags is only half full, so there's room for a few souvenirs. We don't buy many souvenirs, but I promised my boss and a few other people something.

Only 45 minutes to go and then I have almost a month off! I am SO ready for this! :yay:

I have an big old key on a ribbon that I hang on the door knob. This has been very helpful when visiting the grandparents!

We have already written a letter with very detailed instructions about how to find us this year--including a map!!!
