AP question

Quick easy question. . .

We r waiting for our contract to go through ROFR right now and everyday I think of something new as I'm driving to work.

I know my wife and I can get the discount for our AP cause our names are on the deed but what about our kids? I know this sounds stupid question but didn't know.

Immediate family living in the same household are entitled to the discount. Any adult will need to show a photo ID with the same address as the owners(s).

More info on the special $399 + tax PAP for DVC members. ($425.94 with tax)

You'll need to purchase it on or before 12/31/2012. You can call Member Services as soon as you are in the system. They will take your money (of course) and either give you a will call number or mail you an exchange certificate (aka voucher). You will have to pay a few dollars more for the voucher option.

Then you must pick up the actual pass on or before 12/31/2013. Your year of admission starts when you pick up the pass.

You'll need to pass ROFR, close and get in the system to be able to get the $399 deal, so here's wishing you lots of luck that everything goes quickly and gets done in time.

If you don't make it in time, you can still get the regular DVC APs. The price for those is $452.63 (including tax). Without the DVC discount, you'd have to pay $611.31, so still a good value.

last question. members cruise. i know i can't use my points for cruises, but can i still just pay to participate in it when they have it each year?

The last member cruise did not allow cash reservations for people who bought resale after 3/21/11. This is on the website for 2013:

"Memberships not purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. on or after March 21, 2011 will not have access to this Member Cruise.

Hey thanks for that! I doubt that we will be closed by then but still getting a discount on the AP compared to paying full price like we usually do is fine with us. I think the real winning part of the whole AP thing is being able to purchase the TIW card. We saved a ton last year when we had it. We bought our season passes and the card and by mid trip my family and my parents were clear if we didn't even do another trip that year with the savings.

I do hope ROFR goes quick but i'm not expecting it to be less that 30 days so at least i have that mindset going forward.

see i don't get how they can't let u pay cash cause it's for members and we would be a member? i know you can look at it either way but then that's like saying we couldn't go to a paid function that they might be having in a park? am i off on thinking this?

I agree that the cash option should be open...but there is nothing that says DVCers will have any access to to any cruise. If DVC wants to make the member cruise only available to direct purchasers, they have the right to do so.

DVC is likely going to continue to make further perks available to those that purchase direct only. Maybe park ticket discounts, dining discounts, and other venues will become direct purchase only. All they'd need to do is issue new Membership cards. Different colors could differentiate how the points were purchased. The fly in the ointment would be members that purchased both direct AND through resale. I guess they'd be considered direct purchasers for the perks, unless they sold the direct contract...then they'd be issued a new card.

It is certainly not uncommon in the world of timeshares to have different levels of membership.

They want to discourage people from buying resale rather than direct from them, simple as that.

Ya I k ow I get that. And that was the reason we went resale cause the benefits now are bot a big deal to us. But in the future if they did get rid of the discounts for tickets and other stuff then I would just buy a small direct deed. I doubt they would ever say if u own any resale points u r cut off even with a direct sale. At least I hope.
