Hey everyone! OP here....sorry I've been scarce. We've had some family issues going on, and we recently moved, so life has been beyond hectic. But!.....I'm heading to FL in two days and bringing my trusty Kodak Z712 IS with me, SD card cleaned off and ready for over 1,000 pics!! I will be sure to post some here when I return.

These pictures were taken with a Pentax Optio W10 waterproof point & shoot.

The first picture was f3.3. - 0.25 secs - 6.3mm (38mm at 35mm equiv) - 400ISO - no flash.
The second I'm afraid I can't find the details on as I edited this in Picnic on Flickr to boost the contrast and exposure!
The third was basically identical to the first except the exposure was 0.30 secs.

I thought I'd take a different angle, HD video from a point and shoot.

I rediscovered this beach (on the Gulf) sunset video I took this summer as I finally watched it on my flat screen. (I think I enjoyed it more played on a big screen). Although I won't win and cinematography awards with my quick pan at the beginning, I did enjoy the effect of the motion of the flying Pelican over the motion of the waves.

Since disboards does not allow embedded videos, here's a still frame of the pelican flying along the sunset-lit water:

FYI, this was my Sony HX-30, handheld, full Auto, and I was only shooting in the 2nd best 24M 1080 60i AVCHD setting.

Thanks to havoc's [and many others'] reviews, and after saving up for many months, I bought the Sony RX-100. Quite an upgrade from my Fujifilm S700, I must say. So far, I love it and have been pleasantly surprised at its many features and what it can do despite my lack of expertise.

Here are some examples of pictures I took on the sidelines of a local marathon:

The settings are listed in the EXIF information associated with your photo. Some photo hosting websites will let you see the EXIF. You can also downoad a plug-in for your browser which can display EXIF for photos you are looking at online (if it is available). The one I use is called OPANDA.

Some point and shoots record exif data. AAdditionally, high quality point and shoots are no different than a dslr -- they have manul and automatic settings, just like a dslr.

Great shots. If you like that partial red... For example, go to lightroom and use a brush to take out the stray red marks, so just the Santa suit remains red.

So glad I ventured over to the Photo Board today! I am usually a little intimidated because I only have a P&S, but I love it. I use a Lumix ZZ3, but would love to get a newer one someday....Here are some of my shots.
