Well after attempting and failing to rent points for GVC and being told there would be no senior discount for 2013, it looks like we will be at Sheraton Park. It is my understanding that there is a $25 per room per day resort credit. We will have two rooms, so we will have $50 per day. If you have stayed recently, do they have reasonable breakfast options. I see that Molly's Kitchen seems to be a little pricey, but they also have Cafasia which appears to be a grab and go. What was your experience dining at this hotel and/or using the resort credit. We are going to purchase the ART pass for transportation. I am mainly bummed about not having EMH's, but at least we will have one MM at DL. We will arrive in LA early on a Saturday morning (2nd week of June) and spend the afternoon sightseeing in Hollywood. We will spend the night near Universal Studios, and do that park on Sunday. We will check in Sheraton Park Sunday evening and leave the following Sunday. We are planning to do 5 park days at DL with a pool day in between. The pool looks pretty nice.
I've stayed twice at the Sheraton Park and had resort credit both time - two rooms so 25x2/per night. The breakfast place is quite pricey imo, and I think we only ate there twice. With that said I found the portions to be HUGE and you could probably share plates depending on your groups ages and appetites. My mom ( in her 70s )
must have her breakfast and used the small onsite cafe quite often for simple breakfast items like cereal, toast, bagels etc. However your gift cards are NOT valid at the cafe.
We stayed in late Sept/Oct most recently and it was very very hot and we spent a couple of hours by the pool each day. It's a nice pool area with a hot tub, a bar and you can order from a limited menu. The pool bar and all menu items ARE covered on the gift cards. Room service is also covered.
We were down for a week and with the two rooms we had a total of $400.00 in room credits and by the end of the week we had money left to blow... this included splurging on sundaes and banana splits being delivered to the room late one night lol
The Overland Grill is a decent enough restaurant, very large and a big menu. The portions are also huge. Some items seem pricey, others are quite reasonable. The fajitas are easily enough to share. Again, this is covered on your gift cards.
The ART stops right out front, we found that it arrived approx on the hour but definitely do not set your watch by the ART. If anything I would walk there and take the ART back after a long day. The walk is approx. 15minutes imo. You pass by a couple of convenience stores if you want to get drinks on your way to the Park.
The fridge in the room is not large but you can chill a few bottles of water in there. We ordered Vons and had no problem with the delivery. I notified the front desk that we were expecting a delivery and then went and chilled by the pool until they came to get me. We ordered a flat of water and some gatorade amongst other things and it was nice to have easy access to water. You do get two free bottles of water per room per day however, and the coffee is Starbucks and not bad. We asked for, and received adjoining rooms both times we stay. We also ask for a higher floor facing the park and you can see the fireworks from the room. We pretty much faced the back of Carsland and Tower of Terror each time we stayed. This overlooks the parking lot but it was pretty quite imo. A small balcony has a table and two chairs.
sorry for the huge size pics, these were from May 2011 before Carsland opened.
