Cars Land coming to DHS

The DIS has confirmed from multiple sources that Disney will officially announce this week that they are bringing Cars Land to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Lights, Motors, Action! and the Backlot Tour will be leveled to make room for an expansion of Pixar Place to include the new land. Disney opened Cars Land at Disney California Adventure back in June to rave reviews and this would be a much needed boost to DHS, which is starting to show its age.

While we don't know yet which attractions will be included with the new expansion, attractions like Radiator Springs Racers have been wildly popular and most likely would be included.

DHS needs something, but I was hoping it would be something unique. Especially since I just booked a DL trip! ;)

If this comes to fruition my family will definitely be happy! DHS seems so sad these days and they definitely need a way to spread people out better in that park!

We rode Radiator Springs Racers when we were in DL this summer. It was awesome! The theming of Carsland was beautiful. The other attractions were fun, but RSR was by far the best Carsland had to offer.

While I am happy to hear about any additions to DHS, I was kind of hoping for a Pixar land. Not just Cars....

Cars is actually my least favorite of all the Pixar movies...

Fantastic news!

LMA is cool, but there is too much dead time, it's too long, and there's very little incentive to see it more than once. That space could definitely be better used...

I will miss the Backlot Tour for nostalgia more than anything else, but it was definitely showing its age, and if it has to go away, this seems a worthy successor.

I was out at DCA in September, it's awesome! I wonder if they will do a Radiator Springs Racers, since it is similiar to Test Track. Plus takes up alot of space.

Kevin Rafferty who worked on Cars Land was asked this summer at the Disneyana convention about this idea/rumor.

His answer was no way.

It also makes sense - why would Disney start cannibalizing DCA visiting guests by creating exact duplicate in FL? Cars Land and BVS were built to revitalize a broken park. CL is drawing record crowds to DCA and filling up the hotel rooms.

Secondly, the ride system, which is the same as Test Track, will be affected by heavy rain and lightening storms - which happens quite often in FL - will close the ride down.

I can't imagine Disney building this.

While there are a lot of people that go to both parks, DL and WDW. The vast majority just go to one, based on convience more than anything. The parks are far enough away that it is going to hurt DL.

WHile the ride is similar to test track, it is a very different experience and they will be at two different parks.

I am hoping they add something special & call it Pixar Place featuring Cars Land. I would like to see a Monsters Inc ride added in addition to Cars. Or maybe something more Pixar. I am looking forward to see what they have in store for the area.

I'm on the fence about this. I'm excited because Carsland DL looks amazing, but I was hoping for something unique. I will say that I wasn't a fan of Cars but I was forced to rewatch it babysitting last year and I really enjoy it now!

I am very happy to hear that this area will be "reimagineered". Even though our family isn't huge Cars fans, we never do LMA show or Backlot Tour when we visit DHS. The Cars Land at DCA looks pretty cool, so maybe our view about Cars will change.

We will hold out hope, though, that more Star Wars will be added to DHS in the future!!!!

Disappointed if true - was hoping for the rumored Star Wars land expansion. Ah well.

While we love Carsland I think they should just have it in one park. I think Disney needs to make each park unique and to put Cars at both WDW and DL takes some of the fun from it. I do have to say DHS needs something fresh because it is no longer a fun place to visit.

I still disagree with your conclusion and your reason why CL should be built in DHS.

I was not talking about ride experience, but ride system. Please re-read my post.

So do you think they would build Avatar Land at AK and a version of Cars Land at HS simultaneously?

Both areas seem that they would be close to the scope that Fantasy Land is and the amount of resources needed would be substantial.

I hope they do both at the same time, but wonder if that would take many years to finish.

I expect LMA and the Backlot Tour to be closed on our next trip in September 2013, but look forward to the new Cars Land and Avatar Land opening sometime in 2015/2016.

Was hoping to hear the words STAR WARS.

Ugh.

I still think the Star Wars are could get an expansion. But I think they would hold off until after the first Disney-produced film is released. Just my opinion, no inside intel though.

I'd be beyond delighted should this rumor prove to be true. Spent a day in Carsland this summer and was absolutely amazed by it. Radiator Springs Racers is a fantastic ride and the theming in the entire land was outstanding.

Most people never get out to DL and this would be a great addition to the Studios, finally putting the Backlot Tour out of its shadow-of-its-former-self misery.

WDW are always trying to 'counter-program' and find something targeting boys. This would be a great addition.
