So we have booked our villa and the owner is holding some additional dates for us until we could firm up flights, I was starting to get a bit despondent that the prices were just ridiculous going direct and because our local airport is BHX it means travelling to Manchester.
but.... last night I was perusing the United.com site and found some indirect flights for 496 per person!
I need to have a chat with the other couple that are coming with us but I don't think we should leave it too long before booking! :cool1::cool1:

We have been talking about next year. Virgin Atlantic are quoting £1322 for economy, indirect are £775 for dates I am watching. We are considering not going:sad1:
We have a trip booked for Easter but then thats it, I can't justify over £7,000 indirect economy for 3 weeks at OKW(thats if free DDP comes back) never paid over £5k before.
I think we are going to wait and see which Uni Matt goes to and spend time in that area (New Hampshire looks fave just now) can get flights to Boston for £350pp offpeak.

Ouch! What time of year are those flights for? I have never heard of economy being over £1000 to Orlando before. Have you looked at other airlines?

Could have booked Delta flights for about £400pp a while back but still don't know our exact plans yet, can't book until DS gets his university place allocated, we thought he was going to North Carolina, now it looks like New Hampshire, Uni's are useless, they don't realise the planning involved, although they probably don't expect many families booking holidays around starting Uni abroad.

This was the dates/search I have been doing but that was for NC dates, NH start later. http://www.kayak.co.uk/flights/MAN-MCO/2013-07-25/2013-08-18/3adults

For our dates in Aug Virgin M&M economy is £1121 :crazy2:

This is exactly the reason why I think we would be foolish to leave it - right now we can have the pick of the seats on the plane and also have the peace of mind that it's booked at an OK ish rate. :)

Wayne - those prices are astounding!

I agree if you find a price that you're happy with, then get it booked ASAP!

When are you planning on going?

When are you planning on going?

We are going around the 14th October for 3 weeks, usually we go att Christmas or Easter so we are used to the crowds etc, but as we are celebrating two birthdays, and an anniversary plus going on a three day cruise to the Bahamas (which is already booked) we've got to go October this year!

I can't wait, I am throwing myself into the planning to distract from everyday life!!:dance3:

We are having a nightmare at the moment - having already booked flights for the 3 of us (Flydrive with TCD), my eldest DD has now decided she wants to come with us. We have been waiting for VA to release the flights and today is the first day we can book for the dates to coincide - £1001.30 with M+M :scared1: A Flydrive with VH is only £876.90 (I say 'only' but I know that is still excessive) but I'm not sure if they would try and add any additional charges on since she will be only 20 when we go (obviously she wouldn't be taking the car but we wouldn't tell them that)

It's madness isn't it! the more I think about it the more I think we should book it - there's nobody else taking up seats in economy for the trans atlantic leg at the moment either so we could have the pick of the seats.

25th October for a fortnight. I thought going later might make the flights slightly cheaper.

We have solved the problem anyway - managed to get her added onto our booking for just over £700

were looking to go to Hawaii (Disney dvc) flights at moment £880 pp, hoping that they will come down to under £800 pp if they do will book.has to be indirect as no direct from europe. Travelling time 24 hrs each way:eek:

It's half term that does it isn't it! We've never seen prices like it - even Christmas is cheaper!

Madness! Where are you flying from?

Wow... Last year return flights from London to Orlando in august were £750pp... This price rise is ridiculous!

Gosh they all seem huge! We are lucky in that we fly direct to Newark from Manchester and spend 4 days in New York before travelling down to Orlando! Our flight home from Orlando is a change at Washington so only 2 hr wait and they came in at £538 pp which I thought was very reasonable! Virgin seemed to be getting expensive from what I'm reading!
