Emmysdaddy Joins the Damsels to Dine, Even with Princesses: Em started PDR see link

Loved the AP review. It was one of our favorite restaurants as well, although I think it will be a while before we can head back - I would be worried that DD would misbehave and I'd rather not take that chance in any of the signature restaurants. Love the mushroom soup! And your salad looks so good.

I LOVE the Plaza and after thinking I'd be okay with skipping it this last trip, I was very sad when we were in the park and didn't eat there!! I don't know what I was thinking… I do- I wanted to try more thing places! Sigh.

We'd LOVE to try AP one day! Our meal at Whispering Canyon was amazing, so I can only imagine that AP is wonderful!!! Sure does look tasty!

How fun that you and Paula got to meet up at Disneyland. Thanks so much for sending a pic my way! :goodvibes But I must admit that I'm again just a bit jealous because pretty soon everyone on the DR board will have met you in person except for me. :p :rotfl:

Anyway, great review of Artist Point. I too am in love with that soup! Your salad sounds really yummy as well...anything with blue cheese has got to be good. ;)

Artist point looks wonderful!! I think everything you ordered is perfect for me :rotfl:
That salad you ordered really does look delicious and every since DDW reveiws I've been wanting to try the cobbler, yummy!! :goodvibes

Wow!!!! You guys have eaten at some great places. I really want to try the mushroom soup at Artist Point next time I go.

Love your Artist Point review. I think this is one signature meal I could get Mark to do...the steak looks yummy.

The restaurant itself is beautiful inside.

Thank you! The soup and the salad were great lighter options. Next time I need to bring my appetite so I can order an entree!

Artist Point is definitely on my short list for our next trip! That soup looks divine! :)

The soup really is as good as all the fans declare! :yay:

I know what you mean about having to pass up a favorite ... so close but so far!

Glad that you liked WCC!! Did you ask for ketchup? ;)

Hi Barb! Thanks for stopping by! You certainly have a job keeping the live thread going!

You are always the first person I think of for a Dismeet so I can send you a photo!! One day we WILL meet!! Perhaps 2013 will be the year that we either synch our trips or I make it to Chicagoland and take a side trip to your neck of the woods.

Take care!

Thanks avasmommy! Yes, DDW put that cobbler on a lot of people's radar with his review and comparison of the old and newer versions of that dessert. I was instantly a fan!

Wow!!!! You guys have eaten at some great places. I really want to try the mushroom soup at Artist Point next time I go.

Hi princess aleya! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. The soup really is heaven in a bowl!! :woohoo:

Hi Kathy! If Mark likes a rustic Pacific NW type decor and a menu that is heavy on seafood with some beef thrown in then hopefully he would really like this.

You are down to just days before your surprise trip!!! Yay and I wish you a wonderful time. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing all about it. :goodvibes

'Ohana Breakfast

DSC06437.jpg

Em and I skipped ‘Ohana for breakfast our last girl trip so this was a return to one of my favorites, well, I say favorite because they serve Mickey Waffles!!!! Michael of course had never been here so was a bit hesitant for one more character meal! In the end, I think he had fun with this one.

We had an 8:35am ADR which meant we had to hop on the monorail for the short ride to the Poly. When we went to check-in, they had moved the podium to the opposite side of the waiting area…that threw me off my game since I walked in with a confidence that I knew what I was doing, but then I didn’t see where to check us in! Michael may not have noticed!

We were given a pager, shown to the faux tiki background where they snapped our photo and then seated for about 5 minutes before our table was ready. We picked up our basket of the bread before being shown our table by the window overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon.

DSC06432.jpg

Carolyn was our server and bless her heart she took great care of us. She even posed for photos with us at the end of the meal. She promptly delivered our Stitch juice and the other beverages that we ordered. Em had a carafe of coffee to herself. Michael and I don’t drink coffee… actually, Michael will drink specialty coffee drinks and cappuccinos but not plain coffee.
Our first course is typically fresh fruit. Michael opted to have an alternative starter – Zantac!

Ok, so the fruit was my first course and it was fresh and delicious as always! While I was enjoying the fruit, I started eating the bread and I think I ate almost the entire serving. Oops! So much for taking it easy on the bread for this meal.

DSC06442.jpg

Lilo came around during the fruit course. We didn’t have a lot of interaction which was fine. We simply took a few photos and wished her aloha!

Soon the hot skillet of food arrived with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potato wedges, and biscuits. This was followed by delivery of the much anticipated Mickey Waffles! I started with one waffle but I can’t promise that I didn’t have more.

DSC06465.jpg

My plate consisted of scrambled eggs, a slice of very thin bacon (tasted good and I don’t typically eat breakfast meat), a potato wedge (I wanted to taste it before I committed to wasting stomach space for these since last time they were not that great!) I also ended up throwing a biscuit on my plate and trying one of those for the first time at ‘Ohana. Since eating the wonderful biscuit at The Wave I wanted to have another that tasted equally as good. ‘Ohana’s version wasn’t as hot and buttery but it was good. Here’s where I admit that I had two more Mickey waffles. Oh so delish!

Waffles from server station since I apparently didn't take any photos of my Mickey waffles. Likely they were inhaled before I got a chance to take a photo!!

Michael was pleased to have as much meat and potatoes as he could eat. Unfortunately, he does not share my passion for Mickey waffles so I’ll forgive him for that! He did eat the biscuits so they must have been good for him to allow carbs to touch his lips. We had to have a refill of most items in the skillet which was no problem. Carolyn replenished our items quickly.
The characters continued circulating and next up was Mickey and Stitch. As much as I love our host Mickey, I adore Stitch since he has such wonderful interaction and mannerisms. I love his sloppy kisses! (Well, it is more a sound than an actual kiss.)

Pluto was next and Michael shared a hilarious moment with him when he held up a sausage link and offered it to him. Pluto went crazy and literally was sitting up begging for more! So funny!

We were pretty much done with this meal and certainly stuffed beyond asking for any more food when sweet Carolyn brings Michael and I matching Mickey-fetti frosted anniversary cupcakes. How very sweet! She posed for a photo with us while telling my husband that he had beautiful blue eyes. (He still mentions that comment fondly! I see ‘Ohana in his future for breakfast again!) I had a couple bites of the cupcake and declared it amazing! Too bad I couldn’t eat the entire thing.

With the photo op before the meal you have the option of purchasing the photo package. I believe it is 1 5x7 and 4 smaller photos. The cost was $30 or so last time we dined here. However, with my photopass+ they simply gave me the photos. I don’t recall them taking my photopass+ card but I did go to the photo desk at the Poly and have the image added to my photopass+ account. It was very easy and only took about 30 seconds to complete.

The bill was $64.99 with $12.59 in TiW savings.

Next Up: Via Napoli lunch and a Dismeet!

We had the same waittress at 'Ohana in August! I love everything about that breakfast, especially the waffles & potatoes. Ah, to have some now ....

Hi Brenda, just catching up on your reviews! I loved the Ohana review, it made me feel like I was right there with you. And I share your love of that salad at Artist Point. One of my favorite salads at Disney!

I love how your dress complements the theming at the Poly! I debated on whether to go there this trip, but my kids love Crystal Palace so much that I kept that ressie. Your reports make these restaurants so tempting!

Wonderful reviews of AP and 'Ohana! I'm am so dying to eat at AP because of the rave reviews...but I'm a little bit picky as I don't like bleu cheese or goat cheese or fish/seafood and I'm a little nervous about bison. So that is basically everything on the menu! :rotfl2: However, I see many desserts that I'd love. ;) One of these days I'll be brave and try something new.

'Ohana looks like great fun and Michael is smiling in every photo. So that means he loved it, right? I also love the photo where Stitch is flinging your hair. How funny!

By the way - I seriously think we should hatch a plan for a game at Lambeau next season. :thumbsup2 Maybe a game early in the season with less chance for snow/cold? I live in WI and I hate the cold! :rotfl:

Great review of AP. Really enjoyed your 'Ohana breakfast review as well. That's one of my favorite character breakfasts - I really like the family style, I find it more relaxing than a buffet. We're heading back there in April, can't wait!:goodvibes

'Ohana breakfast looks fun! I have never done that but I would be willing to try it.

You look beautiful in the picture with Mickey!!!!! So pretty!!!!

Love your photos! We are going to Chef Mickey's for the first time for breakfast...but your 'Ohana looks so good! Gesh, I'm almost ashamed to admit this but I scheduled Chef Mickey because I've already done the scrapbook page for the photo. :sad2: If you have been to both, which do your prefer for breakfast? They both have Mickey waffles ;)

We are going to Artist Point next year, I dont care for mushrooms but everytime I see that smokey mushroom soup I say I have to get that it looks so so good.

Hello from London Brenda :goodvibes

Right first up - your dinner at AP looks wonderful, we love, love, love Wilderness Lodge as you know and I can't think of a better place to spend an evening

The salad that you ordered looked right up my street :thumbsup2

Great photos from 'Ohanas, you and Em look beautiful - love your tropical dress :flower3:

Too funny the shot of Michael cutting up his pills :rotfl:

Oh and on the subject of Micky Waffles, I have just discovered that there is a Disney Cafe in Harrods, and guess what they serve ..... yep Mickey Waffles :yay:

I keep having to "pop out of the office for important meetings" :rolleyes1

Enjoyed reading your reviews. Great pictures and very helpful descriptions. This review and a few others helped me a lot with making my ADRs for my second WDW trip coming up. Thanks!
