Hi - I can't seem to find clarity about which hotel is closest to walk to the Downtown Disney restaurants, etc. We have three small children and want to be able to walk to restaurants at night. I know they are all in the same area, but assume some are closer. Ideally we want the closest hotel that also has a balcony or outdoor area from our room. Thanks!!

I think that would Saratoga Springs.

We just stayed at POFQ and it has a 15 min boat ride to dtd which is lovely.

You can walk to DTD from the Springs Section in SSR in about five minutes or so. You can also take the water taxi from the dock right outside the Turf Club patio.

The closest Disney resort to DTD would be Saratoga Springs. Old Key West would be the next closest. Both are very, very large, spread-out resorts, so the walk from your room to DTD could be rather long.

No other Disney resorts are within walking distance, POR and POFQ do provide boat service to DTD (as do SSR and OKW).

If you're willing to try a non-Disney-owned hotel, the DTD hotels are across the street from the Marketplace, most are a reasonable walking distance to DTD.

SSR is the closet Disney hotel.

these are the non-Disney

one is definitely Hilton - but even closer are 2 hotels - the map on the site is wrong. - best western LBV is much further back and Hilton is in the front not the back.

so would not trust the rest of it.

think one is the Wyndham - but not sure what the other one is

I should've mentioned I meant the non-Disney hotels (Hilton, etc.) that are there. I know they are all on a strip or something but which is the closest to walk to dinner at night from the hotel w/three small kids. Thx!

Pat J/"spiceycat" - which are the two hotels even closer than the Hilton? I can't gather any info from that DD Hotels site either.

The Beuna Vista Palace, the Wyndham lake and the Hilton are your best bets. The Best Western, Hotel Plaza, Holiday Inn and the doubletree are a little bit of a hike. We stayed at the Wyndam Lake (when it was called the Grovsnor) and had no problem walking over with a four year old. All hotels should be less that a mile walking... I cant get the link to post..grrr.. but go into google maps and get directions from downtown disney, florida and type the name of one the hotels i.e. hilton- hotel plaza blvd and a nice map will pop up and choose the walking icon...
Finally!

Disney resorts - Saratoga Springs but only if you are in the Congress Park section.

Hilton, Wyndham and Buena Vista Palace across the street. A little further out is the Hotel Royal Plaza.

thanks you - did not know you could do that with google!!!

Awesome, thanks!!! So it looks like you can walk to the multitude of attractions/restaurants, etc. in DD from these hotels. Now to figure out which is best...we def. want some outside area (balcony).

If you want the best views, you'd have to go with Saratoga Springs (Disney property). The Congress Park section looks directly over, with balconies at the nightlife at DTD. If you look at pictures, DTD is situated on a lake and that lake is right across from Saratoga. I'm thinking that the DTD hotels that aren't disney will be looking at a parking lot. Also, if you are not looking at Deluxe properties, you may want to try POR cause it is perfect with a pontoon boat that takes you right there. You may want to try google earth maps and you can get a better idea with all the hotels in the DTD area.

We stayed at the Buena Vista Palace a few years ago and walked to DTD often during the stay. Super easy!

pretty sure that all the DD have balconies - stayed in LBV Best western a few years ago and it is one of the least expensive and it had a balcony.

We stayed at Saratoga Springs in the Congress Park section, and walked to DTD. It didn't take long at all, maybe 10 minutes. Our room had a patio (we were ground floor, 1 bedroom).
