Hakuna Matata - Gobblin' up November

Rick

The weather was cold. But i guess cold for us is summer for you guys lolz. I had injured the back of my left knee to begin with so i just sucked it up and ran or jogged. I can see it as a training run but then i couldn't help it. Kept on telling myself "ok i'll just jog 5 miles and then rest for a mile. " Which didn't happen cause i kept on going. I did walk for 30 seconds before i start up again. The hills after mile 6 is outrageous. They are not kidding when they said that there are alot of hills in Atlanta. I finished 2:28. Which i though wasn't bad considering the injury and the hills. Still trying to recover. Its going to take a while. Hope your run was good.

Got 4 medals so far for this year. All these runs are expensive. This is once in a lifetime so no regrets.

Great job to all!

Rick - read your report - so proud of your runs and your weight loss - give yourself a high five for me!

Vicky - great job as well - 8 and 16 - killer!

Aaron- that's a GREAT time considering your injury - congrats

To everyone else - we are almost there!

I took a VERY lazy approach adn actually took all four days off to just rest - it was REALLY nice for a change and much needed. I then got up at 4:30 am and ran 15 miles before work, so I'm a bit sleepy now. I also plan to run 20 miles on saturday. then I take the next weekend off for amuch needed girls weekend!:cool1:

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - We are headed to both Disneyland and WDW for a few days each to catch Christmas decorations and shows.

Kimberly - Good for you for resting!

AFM - Cold here yesterday, did bundle up for a dog walk, rode the bikes to the mailbox once, pretty cold. Today should be warmer, but the wind has picked up again. We are having a few folks over for chili tonight, so that means clean the house and run some errands.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi team!

Lynn - Sounds like fun! I love seeing the decorations before they come down in January. I'm thinking this year, there won't be as much time as there was last year.

Kimberly - Good luck with the 20 miler this weekend! The girls weekend sounds like a lot of fun :)

Hung - Agree with you about the races being expensive! Not to mention the travel itself! Good job

AFM - I did a three miler this morning but was still tired from my gym workout last night. This is a cutback week for me so no super long run this weekend - I've got a 9 miler scheduled. I'm going to try and do it friday night so that I can say I've done a 100 mile month in November :)

Hope everyone's week is going well!

Good Morning Team!

Our chili dinner went well last night. Still no exercise to speak of, except the walking associated with running errands.

Vicky - I am sure you will get your 100 miles in for November!

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hey everyone so sorry as usual I am MIA!!!

I just chat with so many of you through FB,text and email I always forget to check in.

Hope everyone is doing great!!!!

Good Morning Team!

Good to see you here Kim!

We are off tomorrow, I do not know how much posting I will be doing while gone, have a good week all!

Hi team!

Lynn - Safe travels! Post pics of the Christmas decorations if you can :) Glad to hear the chilli dinner went well. I'm sure you'll get a ton of walking in at the parks!

Kim - :wave2:

AFM - I went out with the running group that's close to my house with a friend. One of the groups was running a 5K distance so that distance was perfect for me. The funny thing about this running group I've noticed is that there are always really fast runners and then a group that's slower but never any one in the middle. The two faster runners were maybe 1:00 minute ahead of me and never got away but I'm not sure how far back the others were - I turned around a few times and never saw them so I'm thinking they must have been at least 2:00 minutes behind. I did my run/walk intervals again even though everyone was continuous. Managed to get in the last two splits in 8:44 m/m and 8:32 m/m. I think the middle split was about 9:30 but we stopped at a traffic light and I didn't bother to stop my watch.

Planning on my 9 miler tomorrow night to make it a 100 mile month :)

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Lynn: Have tons of fun out there!

Vicky: Good luck on your 9-miler! And congratulations for reaching the 100-mile monthly mileage milestone! December is probably going to be another one so that will make two 100-mile months in a row! WooHoo!

AFM: I am trying to stay motivated. I ran only once this week and it felt more like a duty than a joy. So this weekend is my second back-to-back -- going to run 10M on Friday before work and 15M on Saturday morning. Then I have a 5K recovery run planned for Sunday morning before church. So I get to take Sunday and Monday to relax and recover. I won't lie -- I am so thankful that next week is a cutback week! :)

Hope everyone has solid weekend training runs. Carve out some time to enjoy the preparations for the holiday season!

Not quite at 100 miles yet. I have to find a route I'm comfortable running. Usually for longer distances I run on a road that goes through a really quiet neighborhood and somewhat wooded area. There isn't much traffic there once it's dark so I don't know if I'll take that route. The alternative is to do 3 loops of my 3 miler but that's boring... :rotfl:

Vicki and Rick - Thanks, I am sure we will have a great time. We are at the Denver airport waiting for our flight. I am looking forward to the enforced exercise in walking around the parks.

Hey all! hope all is well. a weird week here - ran 15 miles monday morning before work that went well. then tuesday midday my left arm started Killing me at a point on the outside bw elbow and shoulder which radiated up shoulder to left side of neck and jaw and down to two far left fingers. could not raise or pump arms so running was not on the horizon for tuesday wednesday and thursday - made me mad (as rick knows bc he helped me with my stress - thank goodness for FB messaging!) and crazy bc I really wanted to hit 100 this month and was worried about the 20 I wanted to run this weekend. well, it felt a little better this morning, so I did run my usual 5.13 so I literally am 1.3 miles short of 100 - oh well. annoying but what can you do. I plan on running 20 tomorrow and it's expecting to snow - should be fun! I have to do 20 now bc I'm away the next two weekends and then plan on another 20 on 12/22 and then taper down from there! wish me luck!

also another new - my 4 year old son has been begging for a "dog with pointy ears" and even wrote a letter to santa which he gave on the polar express this past friday. well, santa broke his rule and came early and we have "Katy Perry", a 10 week old, 1.5 pound tuxedo chihuahua for which our son is the proud "Papa" of. Isaac has been very good about cleaning up after her and feeding her etc. and seems to adore her. She is a great fit for the family! The names progressed from "Isabella Hulk" (I would have LOVED to call that little thing hulk!); "Iz"; "Black Widow"; "Firework" (he loves that song"; "Katy Perry"; to now "Kate with nickname Katy Perry". Isaac has had a crush on her since he was two.

I am very happy that you were able to get a 5-miler in today. I hope the arm continues to improve and that tomorrow goes smoothly. :)

Congrats on the new addition to the family! Isaac and his new best friend will be inseparable! Awesome!

AFM: I ran 10 miles this morning and finished the month at 106 miles (and only 6 miles shy of 1000 miles for the year). It was a good run but I definitely should have eaten beforehand. I can tell my energy levels were low as a result, even though I had fuel during the run. Tomorrow I am running 15 miles to finish out my second back-to-back run. Then I will go see my daughter perform in a choral concert at her University that evening. I am really looking forward to that!

Here's hoping that everyone has an awesome weekend! :)

Hi everybody

Well my leg issue has been diagnosed as ITBS by my physiotherapist. It has really hampered my training…it has been a month and although I am doing the foam rolling, stretching, icing and getting ultrasonic messages at PT, it not really getting better. I am going to see an actual sports doc this week to discuss options (cortisone shot maybe), but I am starting to get concerned that I won’t be able to do Disney without a lot of pain. I am also concerned I will end up walking most of the marathon and may get swept and not get my medals.

On the positive side, due to my running layoff and the related frustration, I have been able to “practice” for Monday’s DATW event at Epcot.

Hope everyone else’s Disney race prep is going better than mine!

Robbie

:bday:

:cake: Happy birthday Lynn!! :cake:

I hope you're having an awesome day and Scott is spoiling you rotten!

Lynn: Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you enjoyed a remarkable day!!

Robbie: I am praying that you get some answers and a plan that gets you healed (most importantly), and able to toe the line at Disney without pain. Hang in there!

AFM: I finished my second back-to-back this weekend and was encouraged -- ran a 10M, then 15M, then 3M on each day. And I officially crossed the 1000-mile marker for this year with 1,014 miles! I am glad today is my Rest Day and that this is a cut-back week. :)

Hope everyone has a great week! Smile! It releases endorphins!

Pixie Dust to heal the body and mind this week!

Hi everyone! Things are slightly less crazed now, so if it's ok I'd like to come back to the family? :grouphug:
