Since buying Dvc. Park touring for me is different. We used to be there at rope drop. We stroll in whenever now. After hanging out in the room and taking our time to dress. We don't do breakfast ressies. We tend to eat breakfast in the room. Cereal or pop tarts and toast. If we don't get to ride something we sayy well do it next time

Lots of other things too. That I can't think of But I wouldn't change it. I just keep beating myself up for not buying sooner.

Isn't it wonderful to actually relax while on vacation?! That is the best change for most DVCers.

No more APs, now you can switch to non expiring 10 day tickets. One of my favorite things is talking to CMs and Guests around the resort.

A couple of years ago I stayed up all night watching Disney put up Christmas decorations at BWV.

Last month was our first trip as DVC'ers and let me tell ya it was a change. In years past it was go go go hop to different parks depending on where our dinner reservations were, and get back to the hotel at god only knows what hour. This time though there wasn't really alot of hopping and we were able to enjoy walking around a park and taking our time. When we were hungry we would go back to the room and cook dinner, relax, and let the kids swim at a normal hour. I tell ya it was a change but a great one. Can't wait to go back next year.

I feel more magical :wizard:But I still do rope drop.

We'll try for rope drop and we'll park hop--did 3 parks last trip; went to HS just for the lights. But now we'll only spend one day at the parks, maybe 2. Most of the trip is spent relaxing. We don't have kids with us so we can really relax! And of course, there's always the next trip.

I think you've hit on the true "Best kept secret" from DVC; the ability to relax! :cool1: :thumbsup2

Sounds like our touring plan, but here is another great part you'll find, being able to share with friends/family you care about!

We gave our close neighbors a couple nights at the DL Hotel and Paradise Pier via points this summer. On Sunday, we'll have my parents with us (in their own studio) for a couple nights, so they can enjoy the new Fantasyland, MVMCP, and Candlelight Processional with DD (as us, too).

Yep, lots of great things about the DVC lifestyle. ::yes::

We are planning to do just that next nov with my brothers and mom. Sis in law and nephew and niece
We also shared with my in laws this past June.

Sharing is my favorite part. We are headed to Aulani on Friday with a group of 10, family and friends.

Sharing is one of my favorites too! I was able to give my sister and her family four nights at the DL Hotel. I also loved being able to get a GV at OKW and take my parents. It was the last trip my father made with us before we lost him to cancer.
I love being able to take it easy and I love having the freedom to cook my own meals and not be at the mercy of a dining schedule. I also love the washer and dryer and coming home with clean clothes.

I like having the washer and dryer too and the extra space

I really hadn't given it much thought till you mentioned it, but it is really a much more relaxed vacation.

We rented points a few times before we finally bought into DVC. I was instantly hooked. We still do the dining plan and ADRs but love having the extra space and the kitchen for breakfast and late night snacks. The washer and dryer is also a huge plus. I agree that you don't feel pressured to "do it all". We stay longer and have pool time and just go with the flow. Love it. I wish we bought in sooner.

I could kick myself many times over that we didn't buy back in mid nineties.

I started to feel that way as well and then realized, for us, these past few years have been the perfect time to have DVC.

Our children are young adults now, so they bring friends and since we don't need to "watch" them, trips are more relaxed. Eating a leisurely breakfast in the morning, visiting the parks as we wish, having access to laundry in the unit, make for a substantially less rushed experience. If they were still young and we were bringing their friends, it would have been too stressful.

When our children were young, we spent all day in the parks. Having DVC back then would not have been worth it to us since we would not be at the resort. Now, we work our day around the resort with the other offerings as secondary.

When our children are married with families of their own, we will be able to offer them a place to stay while they march off to rope drop and fireworks and we (my wife and I) can decide if we want to go along. At the end of the day, everyone will gather at "the grandparents house" (most likely Boardwalk) for a relaxed evening, dinner and balcony time. Perfect!

We were able to treat DD#1 and the grandkids to 8 nights in a 1br at SSR this fall. In the coming year we will treat DD#3 and her DH to a long weekend at AKV in a 2br. DD#2 and her DH will get their turn in Sept in a 2br at BCV for 7 nights. Plus we have a couple of solo trips planned, just DH and myself.

We love our DVC.!! And so do our kids. :grouphug: It does change you.

DVC has made life vacationing a lot more relaxing for us too. We used to be the like so many, in the parks when they open, there when they close, and worn out in between. DVC has allowed us the time to relax, hang out at the resort, eat our breakfast in the room, enjoy coffee on the balcony, etc.

Like so many, wish we had bought sooner:confused3
