Our Last Family Vacation: That WE pay for!

What gorgeous pics with the Princesses. I love the one with Aurora and how your DDs hand is out like hers :thumbsup2

Ah thrill ride kids- they are soooo much fun!

Enjoying your TR! Two weeks from tomorrow for me.
You are going at a great time. I wish we would have stuck to our original time frame. Thanks for joining.

Caught up! Such wonderful pictures and memories of Kaitlin and the princesses!! I love the ones of Cinderella having her blow kisses, and the Snow White ones!

You really do have a thrill rider! Lucky for you and her sisters that she's not really into the 'baby rides' :rotfl:

So glad that you enjoyed LTT-we've yet to eat there. I've heard really good things about it though.

Good job keeping the family there! Sometimes 30 mins of sitting is just what the doctor ordered. And ice cream never hurts. I'm so glad that you got to see MSEP. One of my favorite memories from childhood visits. :goodvibes

LTT was very good. Not sure I needed to eat there twice in a day but if it made the fam happy then so be it. I saw the electrical parade in DL and loved it. I knew it would be hit so that's why a pushed so hard to see it.

You have a lovely family. Looking forward to reading more about your trip.

Thank you so much and thanks for joining in. So happy to have you.

Enjoying your TR!
We were there at about the same time and boy, it was hot and humid!!

Your little one with the Princesses is too cute! I only hae boys so I'm enjoying the Princess meet and greets through you! :)

OMG it was hot. We are so not used to that. The funny thing with the princesses is that she loves all things princess but doesn't watch the movies. She's seen them once or twice and that it. I find it very odd that she is so into them otherwise. Her best bud at Daycare is a boy so we have to watch Spiderman every night before bed.

Great TR so far. I was so dissappointed when I got to the end. Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip.

Awww... Thank you, should have more up in a day or so. Thanks for reading.

I'm subbing to this thread. Your family sounds a lot like mine. DSS16, DS6 and another boy on the way in February! I'm enjoying your TR so far. :)

Oh my gosh, how do you do it? My energy for one youngster is barely there. Luckily the teens love her so they had just as much fun watching her as we did.

Love your report SOOOO much! Joining in! :lovestruc

Thanks for joining. Hopefully I can continue to keep your interest.

Thank you for the kind words. Aurora actually coached her on that. She was still getting used to what to do. Yes, even today she says ToT is her favorite ride, followed by Splash "aka log ride" then pirates, then Small world. I think small world only rates because she listens to the song at home all the time.

Day 3.

Today was supposed to be our relaxing water park day with a very important dinner reservation that night. I had promised my husband that I would make all of the character meals worth his while with this one special dinner. (We were also celebrating our 5 year anniversary) I hoped it would live up to its reputation. Anyway, we again slept in, had breakfast in the food court and then headed out to Blizzard Beach for our date at the water park. We had done Typhoon Lagoon last time and although we loved it, I really wanted to try something different. Also, with all of the research I did and feedback from the DIS, I felt that BB had more to do for the 4 year old who is a water baby but not necessarily water slide brave.

Disneyworld2012128.jpg

As we left, the clouds seemed a bit dark so we figured we would get the famous 20 minute down pour. Good day to have one while youre in the park getting wet anyway. We arrived at 11:45 to an already fairly full bus stop of people wanting to get on the bus. We thought that was weird since the park had only been open for a couple of hours.

We made our way to the entrance, of course our stop was the furthest away. We got there to see these huge black clouds right over the top of the park and were informed that the park was closed due to an electrical storm. The lightning had to be 8 miles away before they could open the park and they had no idea when that would be. We were welcome to enter the park and take our chances but they were making no promises.

We decided to give it a try banking on the odds it would be quick. We checked out the store and then explored the park which only got us more excited to get in the water. Of course there was no one in the water and an awful lot of people milling about waiting for the storm to pass. Kaitlin was beyond excited to try this place out and holding her back was becoming difficult.

Disneyworld2012132.jpg

Disneyworld2012138.jpg

Then there were the love bugs. They were EVERYWHERE. You couldnt stop moving without literally being swarmed. Not a fun thing for the teenage girls. (or anyone.) We were warned by a CM not to kill them as the smell only attracts more. We had been in the park about a half hour when the rain started. And not just a drizzle. Everyone in the park ran for cover and we ended up huddling just under a concession stand over hang. We met a wonderful CM who gave Kaitlin a chocolate chip cookie (which would have been awesome but she doesnt eat chocolate anything, so not my kid) so we just hid it and pretended she did. She was hungry by this point so we bought a hot dog. 15 minutes later the rain was not letting up. Im talking torrential downpour. Across the way was a pick a pearl stand so we ran over there for more room. Of course we were soaked by the time we got there. At this point people were obviously giving up and making the mad dash for the park entrance. The lighting and thunder was amazing. But scary enough we didnt want to just venture out from under our cover as it was now directly overhead. Kaitlin was now crying that she wanted to go home. But, there were no lovebugs!!!!

Disneyworld2012143.jpg

There was a slight break so we decided to head for the store and make our way to the entrance. By the time we got into the store the down pour had started again so we were completely drenched and even cold. Kaitlin made out like a bandit and got that brand new Princess Towel she had been wanting in addition to the giant sucker she wanted. (It melted on the tv stand and we had to break it off in the end. Luckily no damage was done.)

Finally we decided to officially give up and try Downtown Disney. Since we didnt really have any time scheduled for this it all worked out. We went back to the hotel, got dry cloths and headed for DTD. By the time we got there we were hungry so I pulled info out of the back of my memory and we decided to try Wolfgang Puck Express. It was very good, I wouldnt say amazing. We handed the girls their spending money and off we went to see what we could spend.

Kaitlins eyes about bugged out of her head when she saw the Disney store. She had $50 of her own money, plus we told her we would by her one stuffy, one shirt, and one hat of her choice. (She already had the hat) She picked up a cuddly Special Agent Oso stuffy but I knew he wasnt a favorite so we encouraged her to keep looking. She put Oso in the stroller and buckled him up while we looked for something else. She was not convinced she would find anything else. But man, the looks daddy got pushing that stroller with Oso was priceless. Such a good daddy. Then the light shone and the music of the angles played as she saw it. Baby Minnie in a blanket!!!!!! There was NO talking her out of that one. (Of course she has barely been touched it since we got home.)

We looked some more and she saw the Jessie Doll shes been asking for over the last year that we keep saying no to. It killed me to let her have it but it was HER money to spend on what she wanted. I tried the, you could get that at home argument, but she came back with but you wont let me have it at home!. When did 4 year Olds get so darn smart. So she got her Jessie doll that she played with literally for all of 5 minutes and hasnt touched her since. Sometimes, mom DOES know more.!!!!!

I got myself a t-shirt and a sweatshirt (extra big to account for shrinkage however, this is the first Disney one I bought that didnt shrink!!!!!!!) Finally we were all shopped out and decided it was time to try Disney Quest. I wasnt sure there would be much for Kaitlin, but oh, how wrong I was. The entire 4th floor was made just for her. Dad and the older girls went off to play so Kaitlin and I had settled in. She was having the time of her life. Finally dad showed up so I took the opportunity to grab a coffee and snuggle into one of their big oversized chairs and just relax. Heaven!!!

Eventually all good things come to an end and the family found me. The girls had dont the virtual roller coaster, chosen the hardest setting and were now duly sick to their stomachs. They were too sick for dinner which wasnt a bad thing since they are vegetarian and we were headed to a full on meat place. They went back to the hotel while the 3 of us headed for our date with Ohanas.

I had very high expectations thanks to this board and I am happy to say it exceeded every one. So much so that Monty informed me we would be staying at the Poly on our next trip. Dinner was fantastic and Monty was in heaven. My husband simply does not give rave reviews. So when he exclaimed that this was the best meal hes had in forever, it was quite the statement. The food just kept coming and there wasnt anything we did not like. Sadly we just couldnt eat as much as we wanted to.

Kaitlin wasnt into trying new things and I wasnt into making her. I remembered the greatest tip every from Mickey and the Monduhrail and ordered Kaitlin chicken strips and fries. (Every restaurant in Disney has this even if its not on the menu. The table next to us leaned over and asked how we got it as their kids wanted that too. I passed on the tip.) Kaitlin had a blast with the games and we got to watch the Halloween fireworks from our table.

By now, our relaxing day had turned into a fairly full one. We had our one and only early morning the next day and we were tired. On the wait out our server told us to remember our appetites next time. There will definitely BE a next time. Time to go home.

What a bummer that you got rained out at BB! How disappointing. There's nothing like a little Disney shopping to help a little girl rally though!

My DD HAD to have all of the Toy Story gang for her 4th birthday. I spent a fortune, tracked them all down, and they sit in a bin in her playroom. :lmao: Maybe if Jesse was more sparkly? Mads does play with/sleep with all of the stuffed guys though.

So very glad that you loved 'Ohana! and Yay for a Poly stay next time! That's awesome! Nice work getting the chicken strips and passing along the help.

Can't wait to hear more!

Sounds like you made the best of it after the BB fail. Oh I can not wait to try 'Ohana!!!!

All caught up! Love your updates!! SO glad the "secret" worked! I am hoping to use it at Be Our Guest, since I'm pretty sure DS won't eat there! ;)

I'm also glad y'all loved 'Ohana! Definitely one of our faves!!

Glad to hear staying for the parade worked out.

What a bummer for all the rain at the water park but looks like you made the best of it.

Dinner looked like fun.

It was very disappointing as we are water park people. But it was very cool to see that liightening though.

Kaitlin still has barely looked at her. Now she wants a Ferby for Xmas. I fear the same fate.

So very glad that you loved 'Ohana! and Yay for a Poly stay next time! That's awesome! Nice work getting the chicken strips and passing along the help.

I want to go back just to eat there.
Can't wait to hear more!

Joining in. Enjoying your trip so far.

Thanks for joining in. Glad to have you.

Yes, the secret came in very handy. Thank you for sharing the tip. I can't wait to hear about Be Our Guest. we really should have kept our dates for December. Next time though.

Glad to hear staying for the parade worked out.

What a bummer for all the rain at the water park but looks like you made the best of it.

Dinner looked like fun.

We loved the parade. Livning in Vancouver we are at least used to the rain. Warm rain I can deal with. Dinner was so much fun.

I'm in! Love your TR so far!

Welcome! Thanks for stopping by.

I should have an update soon. I'm just having issues with photobucket. Does anyone esle have as much difficulty getting it to cooperate????

Day 4
I chose this to be our early morning because the day before was supposed to be so relaxing and I knew that I needed to get into the park early for Toy Story Mania passes. Because of the teens I moved our bus departure to 0800 to give everyone a little more sleep. I had made an ADR at HV for 0905 so when the girls were not ready until 0815, stress was really setting in. Then, when we got to the bus stop and the girls realized they didn’t have their room keys (and by extension Park Tickets) and were now locked OUT of their room I was really NOT in my happy place. And of course they had locked the connecting door. As I had earlier asked them not to lock it, their response was that they wanted privacy. I responded by gently reminding them (through gritted teeth) that if we were all in one room, as was the plan, they would not have had ANY privacy. The clock was ticking. As luck would have it, the housekeeping team was just getting started and they let us in. We now ran back to the bus stop just to see our bus pulling away. It was now 8:25. Stress stress stress. The next bus came fairly quickly and we were at DHS by 855. Mickey was shining on us. We sent the girls to get TSM fast passes while we settled in to our ADR.

Photo0104FourBySix_zpsb7431de3.jpg

In short, I can’t believe I was waffling so much on keeping this ADR. It was by far the best character meal we attended. Lots of dancing, lots of interaction. When Jake came and danced beside her Kaitlin couldn’t seem to get the words or the steps. Just kept jumping up and down with excitement. When Jake came over to the table later, he was phenomenal. He made fun of her jumping up and down, gave her kisses, proposed to her, covered his eye with his hand and one of her eyes with the other….. was really playful. He was by far the best character we had to this point. Handy Many & Oso eventually made it over but was not as exciting as Jake. It was a very successful and fun meal and if you have a Disney Junior fan, this is a must do. I was skeptical but so glad I kept the reservation. Just a fantastic experience that she still talks about. The food was not good but not bad. Again Kaitlin barely ate so I was really happy we weren’t paying for it.

Disneyworld2012182.jpg

We had time until our fast pass (11:20am and that was getting it on opening) so we decided to check out Tower of Terror. Kaitlin knew this was a “big kid” ride and was determined SHE would be on it. I was a little more hesitant. The signage said it was a 40 minute wait so we decided to let the girls go on Aerosmith. Monty and I both rode it last time and it wasn’t a fave so we took Kaitlin back to the big hat where Minnie Mouse just happened to be greeting guests. It was HOT out though and I wasn’t paying attention to my clothing. I was in a sleeveless top, but it was polyester, so NO breathing. I was incredibly uncomfortable. Worse, Monty was in Jeans and a bad shirt. We left Minnie and headed back to pick up the girls. Next stop was shopping.

Photo0115FourBySix_zps730053c7.jpg

Because his boring selection of clothing doesn’t exist in Disney, he was actually forced to get something a little more fun and in style. I loved the new look. I picked out a t-shirt that was very light and everyone was once again happy.

Time for Toy Story Mania. The bad thing about the FP is we bypassed the entire fun area, however, we were seated on the ride in literally 5 minutes. Monty has a vision problem that does not allow him to see 3D so it was kind of pointless for him. (I kicked his butt. Probably the only time I ever will). It was a fun ride and everyone enjoyed it, but I have to say, it’s SO not worth standing in line for the 80 minutes posted outside as we entered. Kaitlin looked up and patiently asked, “Now can we do Terror Tower?”

I took a deep breath and off we went. We fast passed as the time was right away and we were on in 15 minutes. Kaitlin had her glow stick and we were ready to go. I forgot how many times you go up and down. When the ride was over we all looked at Kaitlin for the reaction, grinning from ear to ear “Lets to that again!”.

Photo0117FourBySix.jpg

Disneyworld2012192.jpg

We got off, grabbed fast passes and took a bathroom break for 15 minutes until our time came around. After the next ride she wanted to go again!!!!!!

We had an ADR for 1:20 though so it was time to go. I had booked a ressie for 50’s Prime Time and really wanted to eat there. However, as I got deeper into planning the trip I just knew it was not a place my family would enjoy. They would not have participated in the antics so reluctantly I exchanged the reservation for Sci Fi Diner. We had gone there last time and Carly really enjoyed the atmosphere. I knew Erica would enjoy it and I knew the movies would keep Kaitlin entertained.

I am not sure what happened but turns out our reservation was for 2:30 and not 1;20. How did over planner me get that wrong? (Later when I got back to the hotel to check my itinerary, sure enough, it was 2:30.) So we decided to take Kaitlin to the Honey I Shrunk the kid’s playground. She loved it. She was so fast though. We finally put daddy at the exit so at the very least we knew she couldn’t escape without us. There were many parents that were lost.

Disneyworld2012205.jpg

The dark cloud that had be threatening us all day started to drizzle so the after about 30 minutes they shut the playground. We wandered around a bit and soaked up the atmosphere. We found a PP photographer and ended up getting two of my favorite shots of the whole trip.

Disneyworld2012202.jpg

Then the air changed and we knew a down pour was about to start. I took Kaitlin back to the restaurant to wait where we would be dry while Monty went to meet up with the girls. I got the stroller parked and did a make shift cover as we ran inside. Down pour was an understatement and I was so glad we had ressies as they began turning people away left, right and center. Finally the others showed up, completely soaked again. (I had rain ponchos with me but they didn’t think they needed them. I handed them over and they stayed in their purses the rest of the trip. Sometimes, mom does know more!)

As expected Erica and Kaitlin loved the atmosphere. The food was much better than I remembered and the milkshakes were awesome. However, they forgot to put Kaitlin’s in a kid’s cup and she dropped and broke it within 30 seconds. Funny thing is she usually doesn’t break anything. Anyway, the server was there in 10 seconds, cleaned it all up, got Kaitlin a new milkshake, a glow in the dark cup with one of those colored cubs and then took about 20 pictures of us with our camera in the car. (Only one turned out but the thought was there.) Disney service at its best.

Disneyworld2012221.jpg

By the time we emerged, the rain had stopped and the sun was out. The plan was to take the boat to Epcot for the last part of the day. For some reason, the boats weren’t running so the girls asked if we could detour to the hotel, dry off and have a quick nap first. It was still early in the day and although I was disappointed to not get the boat ride, I knew we were all very tired. We headed back and took Kaitlin to the pool while the girls slept. She loved the theme and we got to spend some more quality time as a family. It was defiantly nice to cool off and just “smell the roses”.

Pool time meant no nap time though. We got the girls up and headed to Epcot. At least this way Erica got to see the main entrance for the first time. I knew this would be her only visit to Epcot on this trip.

Photo0125FourBySix_zps5be542fe.jpg

Soarin was already out of fast passes, but we caught Nemo’s ride right away and then saw Crush. Kaitlin was so disappointed that Crush didn’t talk to HER. We felt we had done enough little kid rides so we headed over to Mission Space for the girls. Kaitlin wasn’t big enough for that ride, but found a fountain to play in just outside. I thought “well, the plan was to follow her lead and remember to “smell the roses” so….. in the fountain she went with the other kids. We spent an hour at that fountain and Kaitlin was absolutely soaked by the time we dragged her out. However, this also happened to be the ONE day I didn’t bring any spare cloths for her. Darn it, now I would just have to go shopping again. Off to Mouse Gear for some emergency shopping. Oh darn, how ever would I survive. They actually didn’t have much in her size, I did the best I could and headed back to see the water Princess. Soaking wet. With a capital W. She spent over an hour in that little area and had the time of her life. I felt better as we had thoroughly stopped to smell the roses.

Disneyworld2012256.jpg

The last time we were here I had booked an ADR at Le Cellier. I have always loved the old Chateau in Quebec that it is themed after and since I’ve never been there I thought this was the next best thing. My husband’s response: “We could have eaten anywhere in the world and you chose CANADA? The one place we eat all the time? Ironically it was also the one place our kids (14 & 19 at the time) had the most difficulty finding something they would eat!!! Monty really wanted to do Italian last time so I booked Via Napoli just for him. It was beautiful and the girls just loved it. The food was phenomenal. Even Kaitlin (who had spaghetti) ate the entire plate. The most she ate all week. Monty and I both had pizza and the girls chose a pasta dish and the minestrone soup. My little vegetarians gave both very high marks. A feat in itself.

Disneyworld2012252.jpg

Disneyworld2012253.jpg

We paid the bill and headed out. It had been a long day and everyone was tired. Illuminations was starting just as we were leaving so we watched some of it and then headed for the exit trying to beat as much of the crowd as possible. We got home and went straight to bed. Tomorrow, we were going to try Blizzard Beach again.

Sounds like a great day overall.

I am so relieved that you enjoyed the Disney Jr. breakfast as much as you did! I found the character interaction to be AMAZING and Maddie can't wait to go back!

Love that Kaitlin was so crazy for ToT!! What fun!

That fountain looks like a great time, I'm so glad that Kaitlin had so much fun there (it's really too bad that you had to do so much shopping though. You must have been really torn up about that. :lmao:)

Isn't Via Napoli so delish? My DH loved that meal too. And something for the vegetarians? A perfect meal.

Love the updates! It's making me even more excited for our March trip. . .might have to start my PTR soon! Thanks for inspiring me!

DS loved Hollywood & Vine, too! We did it before the addition of Jake, though, so I would love to go back!

I am going to have to try Via Napoli after seeing everyone's pics from there!

Love that she had so much fun in the fountain! I am hoping to do more "stop to smell the roses" next time, too!

Looking forward to reading more!! :thumbsup2

Day 5
Vacationing requires flexibility and I tried to remember this lots on this trip. Stop and smell the roses and let our preschooler be our guide. (Ive heard that somewhere before.)

Anyway, since we missed BB the other day and since we saw more of Epcot than we expected we decided to try the water park again. This time we had much more success. We slept in, then ate breakfast and headed out&

Disneyworld2012138.jpg

We were at the water park by 11am and Kaitlin made a bee line for the tikes area. Her first choice? The tube slide. She had never been on one so I wasnt sure how she would like it. She got off, grabbed the tube and ran up for another go. After letting her splash for a bit I talked her into trying one of the slides. I had to go first and she enjoyed it, but as per the park at home, wasnt quite her thing. She absolutely loves to play in water, but hates and I mean hates to get her face wet.

The girls settled into a couple of beach chairs and were spoil sports the rest of the day. They didnt even put a toe in the water. But I guess if they want to sleep and sun then its their vacation too. Monty finally joined us and we talked, ok bribed, Kaitlin into trying some other things. We got on the chair lift and she thought that was the best. Then the family tube ride. This took us about 20 minutes from the chair lift line back to the bottom so Monty went to see if he could get the girls to come join us for one or two rides. In the meantime Kaitlin saw another tube ride, bigger than the one in Tykes Peak but still a single, she wanted to try. I wasnt sure about her going down on her own without me being at the bottom but she was insistent. So off she went with me as close behind as the CM would let me. At the bottom I found a very happy little girl. Up we went again. Finally Daddy came back without success. Kaitlin wanted to try the sled racing ride. I knew there would be water in the face so wasnt sure how much she would like that. She enjoyed it, but didnt want to do it again. She spotted the wave pool on the way out of the sled ride and I knew once we got there, we were never getting out.

As expected, she LOVED the wave pool. She got on a tube and spent about an hour in there. Blizzard beach was very cool and we didnt get to explore even half of it. We chose it for Kaitlin and I would go again, but I do prefer Typhoon Lagoon. It has a more relaxing atmosphere with the tropical feel. Having done both though, I think BB is better for the under 10 set.

Disneyworld2012132.jpg

We gathered the girls and headed back to the resort for a little rest and a change. We had a very important dinner date that night. Kaitlin was keeping track of the Princesses and we still had to meet Ariel, Jasmine and Tiana. And MOST important of all was meeting Snow White while Kaitlin was in her own Snow White Dress. I prayed that at least Snow White and Ariel would be a dinner tonight.

We had a short rest and got dressed. I wanted to get to Epcot early enough to get onto Soarin. I thought Kaitlin would really enjoy it. This was the night the girls were going out on their own. I had made reservations for them at Planet Hollywood and they were going to do some shopping in DTD. (Side note, we had two rooms so two coupons for PH. I didn’t expect them to accept both but worth a try. Not only did they not accept both, but they one they took that clearly read $15 was only honored at $10. While I would have said something had I been there, the girls were too shy to say anything. Still, boo Disney on that one.)

We parted ways and we headed to Epcot, just the 3 of us. We got on the bus and sat down and suddenly heard “We ask that all guest on board be on their best behavior, we have a Disney Princess on board.”. Everyone looked around and discovered the only princess to be seen was our very own Snow White. It was a very nice touch from the bus driver and gave Kaitlin just a little bit of extra attention from everyone on the bus. She was out cold by the time we got to Epcot though. I mean, done like dinner. (I love this photo)

Disneyworld2012263.jpg

We headed for the Soarin fast pass and saw Chip and Dale meeting just outside. We didn’t want to wake her yet though so Monty took a seat while I ran inside to get the passes. As I ran in, there was another Chip and Dale greeting in the restaurant and I couldn’t help but be thankful Kaitlin was not with me and had not just seen them outside. There was a bit of a faux pas Disney!!!

We got FP for Soarin for 7:20 and since dinner was at 6pm that was a great time. We still had an hour and a half until our reservation so we decided to slowly walk around the showcase, let the little one sleep and enjoy the atmosphere. As we rounded the fountain behind the sphere there was a bored looking PP Photographer so we decided to get some shots of just the two of us. We should have done more of that. Then we continued around. By the time we got to England Tigger and Pooh were meeting. It was time for Kaitlin to wake up anyway so we roused her. She crankily stated she didn’t want to meet them but by the time it was our turn she was fully enthralled. Tigger danced with her and twirled her and bowed to her. She hugged Pooh and off we went.

Photo0141FourBySix_zps0eb37132.jpg

Photo0147FourBySix_zps38059796.jpg

We decided to pass on Alice as Marie was meeting just down the road. Kaitlin is obsessed with cats and has her own stuffed Marie cat. “Look mommy, she looks just like my stuffy!!!”. This is one of my favorite pics.

Disneyworld2012269.jpg

Next we had a decision to make. Jasmine or Mary Poppins. We didn’t have time for both. To my surprise she chose Mary Poppins (one of her fav movies, but NOT a princess.) So back to England we went. Mary was duly impressed with her dress AND her manners. A quick photo here and it was time to speed up the trek to Akershus for dinner. We stopped for one or two shots then checked in for dinner.

Disneyworld2012273.jpg

We got our photos with Belle and once again Kaitlin looked at her like she had never seen her before. She had such awe. Belle told her Snow White was one of her best friends. But the best was yet to come.

We were seated and saw the Princesses coming. First was Aurora that was fine, then was Cinderella, a little disappointing as this was our 3rd meeting with her, then the coveted Snow White and Kaitlin was just about jumping out of her skin, then finally Ariel. YES! The two MUST haves were here. We settled down to have dinner while we waited for our turn. The appetizer buffet left a lot to be desired. There wasn’t much any of us really wanted to eat. We ordered dinner and there was Cinderella. She was the most disappointing of all the Cinderella’s we had met. But to be fair, they had set the bar pretty high. She was gone as quick as she had come so that was disappointing too. Next was Aurora. She was better, but again, nothing extraordinary.

Dinner came, and Kaitlin could barely eat as she saw Snow White enter our part of the room. Monty and I had a fabulous dinner. I can’t remember what we ate but it was really good. As we were finishing Snow White as on us. She was absolutely amazing. She found her signature in Kaitlin’s book and asked where they had met before. Kaitlin could only say “outside”. I filled in at MK and that Kaitlin was in her Halloween costume. SW played along beautifully. She put a great big kiss on her signature and took Kaitlin by both hands, told her what a lovely dress she was wearing and the SW’s fav part was the cape. She put her face close to Kaitlin’s and said something we couldn’t hear but elicited the biggest smile ever from my kid. Then she straightened up and still holding both Kaitlin’s hands told her to look at the camera. Kaitlin looked like the cat that swallowed the canary. IT’s still one of my favorite pics from this trip.

Kaitlin sat down like her world was now complete. But then Ariel came. Ariel is Carly’s favorite so that makes her one of Kaitlin’s favorites and must dos. (She’s never sat through the whole movie yet.) This was an awesome Ariel. She also got right up close and had a conversation with Kaitlin that I could not hear. But she had Kaitlin’s FULL attention.

Now that all dreams had come true and dessert had been inhaled, it was time for more adventure. I left thinking we were the best parents ever and what more could my little girl ask for. As we got out the door she promptly stated “now we just have to meet Jasmine and Tiana!”. Great! Monty was about done with Princesses by that point but, really now, whose vacation was this? Certainly, not ours. We headed towards soaring with Kaitlin jibber jabbering and dancing the whole way.

Soarin was very enjoyable. I forgot how much I liked that ride. Kaitlin liked it but I wouldn’t say she loved it. Afterwards we roamed around a little then decided to head home before the Illuminations crowd left. On the way out we took one last PP Picture and then got right on the bus. At this point as we were relaxing and thinking about the great day, I looked down and realized my PP card was GONE! It was nowhere and worse, I couldn’t even remember taking it back from the last photographer. I had been so careful all week and had one moment of lapse. We got back to the hotel and I sent Monty and Kaitlin to the pool while I went back to Epcot praying I would get there before it closed. I didn’t, however I explained the situation to a very nice CM who let me in. Illuminations were just ending so everything was still open. I found the photographer who did not have it. (I didn’t really think she would but I was hoping.) She told me to go to the photo center and tell them what time I was with her and what her location was. I did and they found my photos. What’s more the found ALL my photos and put them on another card. I can’t tell you how relieved I was. I did have a photo of my other card, but of course I had sent my camera home with Monty. As I started walking back to the bus stop, now with all of the illuminations crowd, it started to down pour. I don’t mean a little, I mean I was soaked to the bone in 30 seconds. I didn’t even care. Everyone ran for cover and I just walked back to the bus. Stood in line for about 15 minutes, stood all the way home and got in the door just as Monty and Kaitlin were getting back. They had had a great time in the pool and then watching the movie. Kaitlin thought that was the greatest thing watching a movie outside. I got a great big hug from both and collapsed into bed absolutely exhausted. We had one more day to go. And it would prove to be the most challenging day of our trip.

I just found your TR, and I'm loving! DH and I are taking are DD and DS on their first trip in 2 1/2 weeks. Dd will turn 5 on the trip, and DS will have just returned 4. It's so good to get a preschool perspective! We have breakfast booked at H&V, too, and I've felt nervous about it based the reviews. Your comments make me feel much better about it. At least we'll have fun even if the food isn't good.

Fellow Canadian joining in! Great start to your report! I love all of the character pictures with your daughter - her expression was captured so well. I have a question for you. In one of the Epcot pictures (I think it was) you are wearing a pink coloured shirt with flip flops on it. Did you get that in Disney? I have seen that shirt online but it is so expensive to ship here and that shirt would suit my mom perfectly. Thanks! Looking forward to reading the rest!
