8 o'clock closing and dinner

We will be there the week after Thanksgiving, and the hours are short. Disneyland closes at 8, and the fireworks are at 7:45. Do you think there's any possibility of dinner at Plaza Inn after the fireworks, or do they stop letting people in exactly at 8 with the park closing?

They will not let people in after Park closing. How close to Park closing they will serve, I do not know.'

I read somewhere about people going to Plaza Inn before park closing and being turned away. :( Now, I am almost positive this was not an 8 PM closing day, but I wouldn't get your heart set on it.

Darn. With these short hour days, I hate to waste park time eating dinner. :)

If you can wait until closing:
  • Restaurants in Downtown Disney
  • Restaurants in any of the onsite hotels
  • Restaurants along Harbor Blvd or the surrounding areas if you have a car

We go in off season usually and have a snack to hold us over and then a lite late dinner in DTD or near hotel. You are right... Don't waste your time.

We will aim to eat after closing. What about the monorail? Could we run to Tomorrowland after the 7:45 fireworks and get to Downtown Disney that way? Or does the monorail close immediately at closing also?

They may only let on-site hotel guests use the Monorail at closing. Haven't been in a while, so not sure. The last time we went, when park closed early, we had a Subway next door to our hotel - nice light meal (and very inexpensive if you split a footlong). Or we ordered in pizza - Straw Hat - another reasonable dinner.

You can board the monorail after the fireworks (did it this past week). They don't limit to hotel guests since it goes to DTD rather than just DLH.

The Monorail might be very crowded after the fireworks though. We tried that last time we stayed at the DLH and decided just to walk back instead. Even though we were exhausted.

They start closing the restaurants early when the park closes early, so expect Plaza Inn to stop serving dinner around 6:30 or so. I think your decision to eat at Downtown Disney would be a good one (and yummy).

Downtown Disney can get crowded after the parks close at 8, too. On our trip we didn't even visit the parks that day but were in Downtown Disney when it got busy. We ended up going to our room and ordering from Pizza Hut (great decision, but make sure you ask for plates and napkins!).

It's hard to believe that Disneyland closes restaurants for dinner at 6:30 pm! Looks like we'll just head back to our hotel. I guess we'll have some late lunches instead.

Too bad about the monorail. I don't really want to face a huge line there after the fireworks. Maybe we'll shop a bit before heading out of Main St.
