You Seem Taller In Your Trip Reports. A Baby at WDW - *HOLY COW! AN UPDATE!* 4/17 p26

LOVE the picture of Ryder's shirt in the first pic of the update...he is too stinkin' cute.

Was it the family that wanted pictures of the bunny, or you? :confused3

Seriously, Barry, you need to get rid of that hat.

Love the family photopass picture in front of the castle. :thumbsup2

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: to Madison for riding Space Mountain.

And isn't it funny how kids can meet someone for the first time and act as if they have known them forever?

Great update...and glad you are FINALLY at Disney.

LOVE the picture of Ryder's shirt in the first pic of the update...he is too stinkin' cute.
He gets it from me. The shirt, I mean. He gets his looks from Bambi.
Was it the family that wanted pictures of the bunny, or you? :confused3
Tomato, tomataho
Seriously, Barry, you need to get rid of that hat.
I've seen what your husband wears when he's not trying on silly hats. He has his own silly hat.
Love the family photopass picture in front of the castle.
:thumbsup2
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: to Madison for riding Space Mountain.
She's a daredevil thrill-seeker. She just forgets that sometimes.
And isn't it funny how kids can meet someone for the first time and act as if they have known them forever?
You've met her. You've experienced it. :thumbsup2
Great update...and glad you are FINALLY at Disney.
Now if I could only move as fast as your TR, I'd be done by now!

The last time we were at Disney World was in October of 2011. Ryder was born in March. Do the math, and you'll find out that Bambi was 17 weeks pregnant during that visit. And according to her doctor (and numerous signs all over the resort) a lot of stuff was off limits.

Dole Whips: OK.

Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road: No No.

Gorging Yourself at Ohana: OK

Rockin' Roller Coaster: Did you really just ask that?

it's a small world: I don't care how much you beg and plead - I'm not going to give you a doctor's excuse to not ride this because you think the music will upset the baby.

Splash Mountain: Again, a big No No.

So, during that visit, I had to take the kids on all of the rides that Bambi was prohibited from doing. But I did it with the promise that on our next visit, I would find a nice shady spot with Ryder while she took the kids.

Well, the time had come and I dutifully hung out with Ryder in the Splash Mountain gift shop while Bambi took the older kids on the ride. And how did Madison feel about me not being on the ride?

DSCF0581-001.JPG

Just kidding she was absolutely fine with it.

IMG_2118.JPG

The Briar Patch store was pretty crowded, but I was able to snag a seat when it was lunch time. Or dinner time. Or whatever meal Ryder calls it when he gets hungry at 4 in the afternoon. Early Bird Special at Dennys?

DSCF0588.JPG

Round about this time, we decided we needed to take a little spin around the park, so we climbed up to the Frontierland Station to wait for the next Iron Horse.

IMG_2122.JPG

We must have just missed one, because we had about a 10 minute wait or so. I plopped Ryder up on a garbage can or guard rail or something so he could get a good look around. He heard the train coming, and as soon as he saw that brightly colored locomotive emerge from the tunnel, his eyes got as big a saucers. So I guess that thing with little boys and trains starts pretty much at birth, huh?

IMG_2128.JPG

Despite being a pretty full train already, we found an empty bench and hopped on.

IMG_2133.JPG

It was a nice, relaxing ride around the park. Except that the conductor had to keep coming on the PA to remind everyone on the right side of the train to not to put our feet down on the lower step, even having to go to finally start mentioning specifically the person in the 3rd car, 5th row back. Sheesh buddy, take a hint. (And no, it wasn't me)

We pulled into the new Carolwood Park station, but didn't get off. We continued right on past the Main Street, USA stop and finally arrived back at the Frontierland. We heeded the conductor's warning to not stand up until the train and the station were going the exact same speed, then climbed down.

We made our way around into Fantasyland where the kids wanted to see Mickey's Philharmagic. Ryder of course wouldn't get much out of it, but we brought him into line with us anyway. He then made it clear that he had other plans. Not by screaming or crying or anything. No, it was much more subtle. But as soon as you smelled it, you knew immediately that no matter how hard they push out the Apple Pie smell in the movie, you wouldn't be able to smell anything but him. Bambi, not being as big a fan of the show as I was, volunteered to sit this one out and clean him up while I took the other kids. I'm sure I protested and offered to take him as the kids and I were sprinting into the pre-show area.

IMG_2138.JPG

After the show, we met up and Bambi and a very happy little Ryder and crossed the path to the carousel where grandma & grandpa bravely volunteered to take Ryder on his first ride.

IMG_2143.JPG

The verdict? He loved it. Music, spinning and going up and down are 3 of his favorite things.

After the ride, we split up. Evan wanted to ride the Tomorrowland speedway before dinner, but Madison didn't. I drew the short straw (and had the healthiest neck and back to absorb the shocks) so I took him. And by the looks of it, I didn't get in the car fast enough.

IMG_2151.JPG

So I hopped in, buckled us up and said my little prayer. See Evan's grin? He takes my prayers as a personal challenge.

IMG_2152.JPG

As we were driving and enjoying (read: contact high) the gasoline and exhaust fumes, I looked down and found out what these cars are actually powered by. Pixie Dust!

IMG_2154.JPG

While making our herkey-jerky way around the back side of the track, I noticed a really neat cloud formation directly above the castle. The setting sun was making a vibrant halo effect that Evan was making very hard to capture in a decent picture by constantly slamming into that center rail.

IMG_2157.JPG

We finished our hot lap, then high tailed it over the Plaza Restaurant for our dinner ressie. We've never eaten here before and I've heard mixed reviews. So naturally, we decided to try it for ourselves and see what all the fuss (or disdain) was all about.

IMG_2167.JPG

I usually don't do a lot of food pictures, but Madison's turkey sandwich was too cute to pass up.

IMG_2178.JPG

And so was my Sundae.

iphone_137.jpg

In case you are either a) My Mother or b) a concerned bystander wondering if I had something else to eat besides that ice cream, yes, I did. I believe I had the Reuben. And it was good. Everyone enjoyed the food, but the restaurant, despite being only 1/2 to 3/4 full, was pretty loud due to all of the tile and hard surfaces. It looked very nice, but it echoed all of the noise.

So, how do you get the most out of a visit to the Plaza? Mind your manners - don't talk too loud so you don't disturb the folks around you. And when you finish dipping your cookies, always stick your pinkie up when slurping down the rest of the milk.

IMG_2187.JPG

By the time we finished eating, we were all pretty beat from the long day. Everyone joined hands and strolled down Main Street, stopping to photobomb this poor couple's Photopass picture.

iphone_141.jpg

A quick turn to say "See Ya Real Soon" to Cindy's place and we headed back to the bus stop.

iphone_142.jpg

We arrived back at the Boardwalk, found our room and used the new RFID encoded key to tap the lock and open the door. We tossed everyone into pajamas and hit the sack.

Omigosh that picture of Ryder on the carousel is just toooo precious! ::yes::

I took my daughter to the Plaza back in May and I will say that the food was good but our server was disappointing. She really acted like she was more bothered by having to wait on any more tables that day. No personality whatsoever and never even smiled once nevermind wish my daughter a happy birthday (which was stated on the ressie). I may go back in the future and give it a try but probably won't on my trip coming up.

Yay for Bambi getting to go on the previously-forbidden rides! And for Ryder getting his first ride in...looks like he had a blast!

it's a small world: I don't care how much you beg and plead - I'm not going to give you a doctor's excuse to not ride this because you think the music will upset the baby.

Even the doctor wouldn't do that? I wouldn't go back to that quack.

Well, the time had come and I dutifully hung out with Ryder in the Splash Mountain gift shop while Bambi took the older kids on the ride. And how did Madison feel about me not being on the ride?

Sounds like it went something like, "No, it's ok honey I'll change--well, the kids are already inside bye!"

The verdict? He loved it. Music, spinning and going up and down are 3 of his favorite things.

So who gets to take him on the teacups?

So I hopped in, buckled us up and said my little prayer. See Evan's grin? He takes my prayers as a personal challenge.

That's the same look he gets when he sees you walking next to the curb and the bus coming down the street.

As we were driving and enjoying (read: contact high) the gasoline and exhaust fumes, I looked down and found out what these cars are actually powered by. Pixie Dust!

Pixie Dust exhaust still smells terrible. Who knew?

A quick turn to say "See Ya Real Soon" to Cindy's place and we headed back to the bus stop.

Nice picture! I like this one a lot. :goodvibes

Ryder is to cute. Madison needs to be on stage and who's going to get the job of teaching Evan to drive for real when he's older??? :goodvibes

OMG that picture of Madison is priceless. She would like to thank the academy and all her dad's dis friends. . . . lol.

And Ryder looks like he was enjoying himself on his first ride. What great grandparents he has. Oh, and speaking of grandparents, I think I saw them again in October when we were down for Food & Wine Fest at EPCOT. Do you know if they were there towards the end of October? I didn't say anything to them, cuz I figured they would think I was crazy, but I saw them, at least what I thought was them, and told my daughter I think I know who those people are. lol.

But this was another great update. So glad Bambi was able to catch up on the rides with the kids. What fun.

Gorging Yourself at Ohana: OK

Except I couldn't because he was taking up to much space in my tummy.

it's a small world: I don't care how much you beg and plead - I'm not going to give you a doctor's excuse to not ride this because you think the music will upset the baby.
You're just lucky that the stress from this ride did not cause ill effects on him. I made sure to take extra special care the rest of my pregnancy to ensure his health. This could have been detrimental.

We made our way around into Fantasyland where the kids wanted to see Mickey's Philharmagic. Ryder of course wouldn't get much out of it, but we brought him into line with us anyway. So I hopped in, buckled us up and said my little prayer. See Evan's grin? He takes my prayers as a personal challenge.
Payback for sprinting from the diaper.

We arrived back at the Boardwalk, found our room and used the new RFID encoded key to tap the lock and open the door. We tossed everyone into pajamas and hit the sack.

It was probably them. They are there all the time. Tough life.

it's a small world: I don't care how much you beg and plead - I'm not going to give you a doctor's excuse to not ride this because you think the music will upset the baby.
Yeah, Mark is right... that guy is definitely a quack.

Well, the time had come and I dutifully hung out with Ryder in the Splash Mountain gift shop while Bambi took the older kids on the ride.
I'm just trying to figure out why this update was titled "Settling My Debt."

You sat in a rocking chair feeding Ryder and then ran when he needed a diaper change... :rolleyes1

And how did Madison feel about me not being on the ride?

Just kidding she was absolutely fine with it.
I felt pretty confident that was the case.

Classy! :thumbsup2

I remember sprinting. I do not remember volunteering.
Sounds about right. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Payback for sprinting from the diaper.
Really? It doesn't seem quite harsh enough.

What a great day in the MK! :thumbsup2 Looks like y'all really got a lot done!

My family likes the Plaza. I think the food is good and reasonably priced. But, it is a small place for sure.

That picture of Ryder in his baseball jammies so precious! Makes me want to go hop into my footy pajamas and get into bed. :rotfl:

I love the MK and Phiharmagic is one of my favorite attractions. I would have had to pass the baby off to someone else.

Madison is quite the little actress.

We have eaten at the Plaza once and I really liked it. I don't remember who loud it was, but I was shocked at how small it was.

Gee, I wish my doctor would have told me that. I wonder if she'll give me an excuse note for our trip next month?

Splash Mountain: Again, a big No No.

I wasn't even pregnant and couldn't go on it in September because it was broken down....again!

So, during that visit, I had to take the kids on all of the rides that Bambi was prohibited from doing. But I did it with the promise that on our next visit, I would find a nice shady spot with Ryder while she took the kids.

That's as bad as the morons who stop in the middle of the row. Except in this case, if the person's foot got cut off, they'd be suing Disney in a heartbeat.

We pulled into the new Carolwood Park station, but didn't get off. We continued right on past the Main Street, USA stop and finally arrived back at the Frontierland. After the show, we met up and Bambi and a very happy little Ryder and crossed the path to the carousel where grandma & grandpa bravely volunteered to take Ryder on his first ride.

Love this...so sweet.

The verdict? He loved it. Music, spinning and going up and down are 3 of his favorite things.

As Mark asked in his post, I think Daddy should take him on it and let Ryder spin him until he pukes!

So I hopped in, buckled us up and said my little prayer. See Evan's grin? He takes my prayers as a personal challenge.

Oh yes...that is definitely what Evan is thinking...I know, I've met the little tyke!

Love their sundaes. They also have the best french fries in all of Disney.

In case you are either a) My Mother or b) a concerned bystander wondering if I had something else to eat besides that ice cream, yes, I did. I believe I had the Reuben. And it was good. Can't wait for the next installment.

Omigosh that picture of Ryder on the carousel is just toooo precious! ::yes::
Much like his sister (and to some extent his brother) I fear Ryder is going to turn out to be a ham.

Wow, that's disappointing. Our server wasn't over-the-top joyous, but she certainly smiled.

Yay for Bambi getting to go on the previously-forbidden rides! And for Ryder getting his first ride in...looks like he had a blast!
He loved it! Well, to tell you the truth, he probably didn't know the difference between the carousel and his stroller, but we loved it for him!

Even the doctor wouldn't do that? I wouldn't go back to that quack.
I guess that's what you get when your doctor practices out of the back of a panel van in an alleyway downtown. At least he's in my insurance network.

Has she been signed by a talent agency yet?
I'm waiting to see if Drew Rosenhaus or Scott Boras will branch out into entertainment and sign her.

Yes. Yes, it does. And it never ends.
Good, because there is a national model railroad show in Milwaukee every year that is a blast to go to and see all the trains set up.

Good grief, Bambi. I would have thought you'd pay better attention than that.
:duck:

Sounds like it went something like, "No, it's ok honey I'll change--well, the kids are already inside bye!"
Pretty much. But it has to all be done while yelling it over your shoulder as you quickly walk/jog/run in the other direction.

So who gets to take him on the teacups?
That's grandma's area. :thumbsup2

That's the same look he gets when he sees you walking next to the curb and the bus coming down the street.
You're lucky he gave you enough time to look at his face.

Pixie Dust exhaust still smells terrible. Who knew?
Yeah, I'm sure that's what Tinker Bell calls it after a bowl full of beans. "Pixie Dust Exhaust"

Nice picture! I like this one a lot. :goodvibes
:thumbsup2

Ryder is to cute. Madison needs to be on stage and who's going to get the job of teaching Evan to drive for real when he's older??? :goodvibes
Thanks.

I'll be teaching the kids. I'm getting fitted for one of those racing style helmets and neck braces next Tuesday.

OMG that picture of Madison is priceless. She would like to thank the academy and all her dad's dis friends. . . . lol.
...and her agent and her accountant and her investment manager...;)

Yes, I'm sure it's quite a burden. :rolleyes1

Good thing we've got reservations in January. :thumbsup2

You're just lucky that the stress from this ride did not cause ill effects on him. I made sure to take extra special care the rest of my pregnancy to ensure his health. This could have been detrimental.
Detrimental to mom or baby?

I remember sprinting. I do not remember volunteering.
I said it just loud enough to be considered volunteering, but not loud enough for you to hear.

You mean: We arrived back at the Boardwalk, Walked the 5 miles to our room found our room and used the new RFID encoded key to tap the lock and open the door. We tossed everyone into pajamas and hit the sack.
Yeah that was quite a walk. And to think, of the two rooms we had, that was the closer one. :faint:

Yeah, Mark is right... that guy is definitely a quack.
He also told me to cut out fried foods and cheese. I doubt he ever works in Wisconsin again.

I'm just trying to figure out why this update was titled "Settling My Debt."

You sat in a rocking chair feeding Ryder and then ran when he needed a diaper change... :rolleyes1
Yup. All settled up. :thumbsup2

I felt pretty confident that was the case.

That girl can act.
Just wait till your little princess hit this age. The drama will be non-stop. :thumbsup2

I think I found the lie.

Oops, wrong TR.
I still have both my feet and no large pile of settlement cash. Wasn't me.

Didn't he learn anything from the Legoland driving school????
I think he was confused there by the freedom of no center rail.

cuz I've got a nemesis to beat.

He's quite refined for a kid who's socks can peel paint with their stench.

Really? It doesn't seem quite harsh enough.
hush.

What a great day in the MK! :thumbsup2 Looks like y'all really got a lot done!
Enough to keep us coming back. :thumbsup2
My family likes the Plaza. I think the food is good and reasonably priced. But, it is a small place for sure.
I was surprised at how small it was. A few dozen tables in two rooms. :crowded:
That picture of Ryder in his baseball jammies so precious! Makes me want to go hop into my footy pajamas and get into bed. :rotfl:
::yes::

I love the MK and Phiharmagic is one of my favorite attractions. I would have had to pass the baby off to someone else.
I didn't want to do it. Oh, who am I kidding. Yes I did.

Madison is quite the little actress.

We have eaten at the Plaza once and I really liked it. I don't remember who loud it was, but I was shocked at how small it was.
I guess we know why it doesn't get much publicity. :confused3
