Ok I need some unput to help me decide...background my d.d and I are going for 10 days next Nov. No Rental car.
1) Pop Century preferred room with deluxe dinning plan.
2) Port Orleans Royal room. Plus dinning planplan

Well it really depends on how much you want to spend and amenities that are important to you. POR is going to be obviously more money then POP since one is a mod and the other a value.

Mods all have slides/better pools and values have standard pools w/ no slides.

POR also has a boat that goes to DTD. I think they also have a casual sit down restaurant.

The royal rooms also have queen beds and more space while all of the values have double beds.

As for the Dining Plan I am no expert since I never get it but I would price both of your choices out and compare on the pros and cons of each.

I say POR b/c I prefer mods over values.
But you are comparing two different things.
1. Value vs Mod
2. dxddp vs ddp.

If you do dxddp are you guys actually going to eat that much food???

I would go with POR with the plus dining plan. I just think the moderates are worth the extra money. We have done the plus dining plan several times and it has been more then enough food.

For us, Moderate resorts would be better then Value resorts for the size of the room alone. Moderates have bigger rooms, more amenities and slides for the pools.

We would never be able to get our money's worth on the deluxe dining plan, as three sit down meals a day would not fit into our touring plans. I like to eat breakfast in the room and then hit the park 1st thing for rope drop, eat at one sit down restaurant a day and one counter service meal a day.

We do not use a car at Disney either, I love Disney transportation and leaving the driving to someone else. If you want to have grocery items delivered to your hotel (breakfast items, snacks, water, Gatorade, adult beverages) we use gardengrocer.com.

Have you been to Disney before? I hardly ever recommend the Deluxe plan to first time visitors. There is so much to see and do that you don't want to potentially spend a lot of your time in restaurants.

Can you give a bit more information on your likes? This will help with your decision on resort and dining plan. Ex. Are you planning on visiting the parks each day or having rest days?

A deluxe dining plan takes too much time out of the day. The scheduling can be tricky. And a mod would be nicer than a value.

The nice thing about WDW is that you don't need a car.

I have been there twice. I wasn't planning on 3 sit down I want to fo several things that take 2 credit's. I pretty much wanted to do POR. But wanted to see if anyone could give me a reason ti switch

My vote is for POR with DDP. We've done the DxDDP and found it annoying to be tied to so many ADR's. I felt like all we did was plan our day around our ADR's. We had so many credits left at the end of our trip that we used them towards snacks (this was many years ago so I'm not sure if they still let you do that).

We've stayed at POR twice and thoroughly enjoyed our stays. It's a beautiful, relaxing resort with the best food court on property. The rooms are comfortable and the kids had fun at the pool. The boat to DTD is an added plus!

If you are going to spend a lot of time at the parks and not much time at the resort, I would choose POP with the regular DDP (save a little bit of money). If you plan on relaxing at your resort, choose POR.

Great! Go for POR. More amenities to enjoy. With 10 days you should go for some resort days and relax.

I just returned from POFQ 10 days with DxDP and I would have to say that DxDP is ALOT of food! But I learned that I would not dream of doing Deluxe without having a car to drive, it takes way too much time out of your day to depend on Disney transportation to get to meals. Have a great vacation, I wish I was still there, we had some awesome meals. In fact, I am enjoying a caramel from Germany right now, we had alot of snack credits to use up on the last night, there was simply no way to partake of snacks because we we so full from the meals

How old is your dd? We did the dxdp last year for 11 days and are doing it again this year for 10 days because we do 2 ts dinners and the signature dinning is part of what we enjoy. We also rely on disney transportation, but plan our meals around which park(s) we are visiting that night MK evenings are Ca. Grill, Narcosees, Artists pt., Citricios. Epcot evenings are Yachtman, Le Cellier, DHS evening Brown Derby, AK is Jiko, etc.. And then we do a 1 ts meal for lunch in or near our day park. Snacks work for mornings (fruit, pastry.)
Before we switched from the regular dinning plan to dxdp, we'd do a couple of 2 ts dinners and I'd plan on paying for an extra counter service meal on a couple of nights to make up for it.
Why not reserve POR w/ the standard dinning plan and then if free dinning is offered when you go (or another discount) use that and upgrade to dxdp?

POR royal room gets my vote, too!! Spent eight nights there in October and absolutely fell in love with that resort and the royal rooms. It was me and my two adult kids. We all enjoyed it so much. Along with the positives already mentioned, we loved walking along the river back to our room at night.

We have never done the dining plan, but I know from our experience this trip that the deluxe plan would have been way too much food and too time consuming. We actually ended up several times relaxing at the resort and dining at the food court. Great food and lots of choices.

I see I am a little late and you have already made a decision, but I just had to agree with it, too. Can't stop talking about POR. For years I never had a desire to stay there. Not sure why because now I'm having trouble convincing myself I should stay elsewhere. Although after a lot of walking this trip, we are wondering about the monorail ... even though my budget says Pop.

I know you have already changed your ressie, but I didn't see the post until now. I guess I am in the minority. I have stayed at CSR and Pop. I don't know how old your daughter is, but I have an 8 yo daughter and I would def do Pop if it were just the two of us. But for me it is a matter of finance. I can't justify spending more since we wouldn't be in the room that much and Pop's rooms, while smaller with double beds would be plenty for the two of us. For the family trip CSR was perfect.

That said, we are planning a family trip in the summer and have POR booked.
