In Puerto Rico Right Now!!!!!

We took a taxi(10 of us) and went to the fort where he gave us 40 min to explore.. then took us to a beach(which was more like a lagoon and reminded me of Atlantic City beaches)... so we called him back and he took us over by the Marriott... got beach chairs for $3 had had awesome waves and beautiful sand. He picked us up when we asked and we didn't pay until the end. Was $20 per person and I felt very safe. Only complaint was the homeless begging right outside of port. PR will need to clean this up to keep the cruise ships coming.

What was the name of the beach you went to? Sounds perfect to take the kids..Thanks,,!!

I love Puerto Rico, so much so in fact, I just booked a 10 day vacation there next summer at the Hilton Caribe and then a vacation rental near El Yunque. Love it.

As far as beggars go near the port, their activities will never force cruise ships to stop coming, it is what it is, just ignore them and keep walking.

Hi guys,

I'm from Puerto Rico and I'm leaving on the Fantasy for the western itinerary on Nov. 24. Just to get us excited I decided to take the family to see our future ship leaving our shores. Since I saw this post about it I thought I'd share them with you. Enjoy!

PS If you have any questions about Puerto Rico, you can surely ask me.

Ok...

If you explain me what they are maybe I can help you. Some foods have different names in different countries and in Puerto Rico mamones is... well, used as an insult. :rotfl2:

So if you can describe the dish I can help you out.

Hi everyone!

I got home a bit later than anticipated, but tomorrow I shall be posying the Navigators! Also, I am attaching some pictures of San Juan. It was so much fun, we were both very happy to be back. Hope you like the pics, I will keep adding more as I go.

This is exactly what I was going to articulate. ;)

What part of Puerto Rico are you from? My husband is from Toa Baja and I was raised in Arecibo :)

There are two beaches close by but you will need a taxi (very short ride) to get there.

1. Balneario de Carolina - The municipal beach of the town of Carolina. Big and a pretty view of San Juan. 10 minutes by taxi.

2. There is a small patch of beach next to the Condado Lagoon that is very nice. 5 minutes by Taxi. It is right in the middle of everything in San Juan.

There is a great little tapas bar at the Hotel El Convento. It is on Cristo St in the Old Town. We ate there a couple of times this past trip. A little expensive, but most good restaurants in Puerto Rico are a bit pricey. It has great alfresco dining in a cool courtyard with a great covered bar. The lamb is awesome! The restaurant is called EL PICOTEO. Here's a link: http://www.elconvento.com/dining/dining-overview.aspx

Glad to help. :thumbsup2

Very sweet and a favorite in the Island. Close to the port there is a market where they sell local sweets, finger foods and fruit, they had quenepas as well ;)
