Advice on Being Nice - Extra Guests

Hoping someone might have been in a similar situation...

My guy and I and another couple (our very best friends - both teachers) were starting to make plans to go on a summer Disney vacation. It would have been their very first trip to Disney, but unfortunately one of them lost their job and they had to drop out. So my guy and I went ahead and changed our plans to February to avoid the crowds.

Feeling sad for our friends, we decided to invite them to join us for the weekend on our trip. So the plan is they pay for the airfare to Orlando and we would pick up the cost of the Disney tickets and staying with us for Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights. We are currently booked on a SPD discount 7 day/6 night stay. What is the best way to let Disney know that we will have 'guests' on three of those nights and will pay the additional occupancy fees. Will Disney have an issue with this? We've never stayed on property before and are concerned this might somehow nullify our SPD discount.

Thanks for any advise you might have.

Since they are not staying with you for the entire week they won't be able to be on the SPD discount. They could stay with you for the weekend and you would have to pay the fee for 2 extra adults. You would let your resort know any time AFTER you check in and prior to their arrival. Tickets and food for your friends would have to purchased seperately.

Hope this helps.

Oh yes, we knew we would be buying them two day tickets and they wouldn't be included in the dining plan. And we are assuming there will a $10 to $25 a day upcharge for each person per night, that's what usually happens when you have more than two persons in a room.

We were just concerned that having people not on the plan/discount in the room might invalidate the offer. We are new at this.

I forgot to say I applaud you guys for doing this for your friends.:thumbsup2

You are correct about the upcharges:

$10 per night/person at Values
$15 per night/person at Moderates
$25 per night/person at Duluxes

No worries, your offer will not be affected. But again, make sure you add them to your room AFTER you check-in and before they arrive.

Been there, done that already twice. About to do it again.

Greatest feeling in the world. Single, not married, go to Disney just about every year solo. Include someone, because it does not cost that much more for them to go.

You will never regret it.

Hmmm ... I thought that everyone in a room on a package needed to have the same passes and the DDP (if the DDP is part of the package). I didn't think that you could add people at check-in. Is that new?

You're right about package rules. It's not new, but kind of an unspoken thing.

If you add them after check in they won't be part of your package, but naturally you can't go over room capacity either.

Nice pixie dust, good for you, we all can use a little happiness in a situation like that!

Just wanted to add that when you add your friends to your reservation, after check in, you would be able to arrange DME for them too (if they need it) if they will be arriving at least a couple of days later.
