AOA White Noise

Does the AOA have any white noise in the rooms? ie. fans, furnace, blower? I have several snorers in the family and we always sleep with a fan at home just to have some white noise. Is there anything like this in the AOA LM rooms or should I bring my small fan?

We were able to borrow a small box fan from housekeeping but it sounds like other people were told they don't have them. Infact, we were first told they don't have them, then that were out and then they found us one. It worked great!

I definitely recommend bringing a fan. I absolutely cannot sleep without one. I believe there is a fan in the bathroom, but I'm not certain. In any case, it likely wouldn''t be loud enough. I found the walls thin at AOA and there's a good chance you'll hear people as they walk by the room.

The fan in the bathroom is motion activiated and VERY quiet, you cannot use it as white noise like the timed one in Pop. The outside noise it almost nonexistant. We were in the LM buildings facing the pool and could not hear it at all. We could hear the occasional flush from the people above us, but it did not have the jet engine sound of those at Pop :). Honestly, it was a little too quiet which is why we borrowed the fan!

There's an app for that.

Friend met me there and it turns out she likes white noise.

I have a free app on my ipad and she LOVED it. I just made sure to plug it in so I didn't use up my battery (though it does have a timer).

The app was free and it was called esleep lite.

I think we used crickets mixed with rainfall. Personally I'm a big fan of just using the tv on low for background noise. But I know some people don't like the light.

Yes, I have that app too. Perfect for travelling! At home I still prefer the fan thou. Without it, i am completely lost. I just cant sleep! Drowns out noise so nicely. If you can bring a fan, if its small enough, I would just do that. Otherwise, just use the app. OR, try out the app ahead of time just to see if you like it. If you dont like it, then bring the fan. :thumbsup2

re: the app, I find the crickets sound, the beach etc too distracting. I like the fan sound....the consistent hum is quite soothing for me.

I also use a white noise app on my iPad, and I know a few people have them for their phones. Way easier than lugging a fan!

I have an app on my Kindle Fire (it's called Sleepy Time,I believe), but before I got that, I went and bought a small white noise machine from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. No more fans for me!

ETA: The other thing I have is a track called Brown Noise that I picked up on iTunes. I put it on repeat on my iPod when I'm traveling sometimes. There are other tracks from the same album of white noises, but the White Noise and Pink Noise tracks were awful. Brown Noise was the best.

Find a station on the resort clock radio that is totally static. Works like a charm. Put it as loud as you want. :thumbsup2

We've done this before when we've forgotten our sound machine. We splurged a few years ago and bought the travel sound machine from Brookstone and bring that with us whenever we travel. It was like $90, but so worth it for us that are dependent on white noise.

We also have the travel sound machine from Brookstone- if you are near an outlet you can get it for much much less! We travel with it and I desperately need white noise so it is a must when we loose power and I can not run my fan.

The original white noise machine is the Sleepmate Sound Machine. I think it is the best. It is true white noise and not a recorded loopy sound.

I have an "app" for my iPad that's called "Sleepy Sounds" and white noise is one of the choices. :thumbsup2
