Online Checkin

When doing the online check in, can you choose which room you will be assigned?

Reason I ask: I am flying in and wont get to the hotel till around 11pm. I have the Disney Dinning Plan attached to my reservations, but since I am flying in late that first day and didnt want to pay for the Dinning plan on that day since we wont be eating, I split up my reservations so that I have one reservation that is just one night, and then the Dinning plan is connected o my second reservation that kicks off the very next day which is the rest of my vacation (1 week). So when doing the online check in, can you choose which room you will be assigned or am I going to have to check in at the desk so I wont be forced to stay the first night, then switch rooms the very next day?

Thanks!

No, you can't choose your room assignment. If you book the same room type for the 1 night stay, and the package, and it is marked on your reservation that you have a continuing reservation they will do their best to keep you in the same room.

It's not guaranteed. The possibility that you will have to move rooms is the risk factor of booking 2 separate reservations. Most of the time, it's not an issue. It just depends on occupancy and availability.

So are you saying I am better to just do my checkin when I can talk to a person so I have a better chance of not having to move (dont do online checkin)?

Thanks for your help!

No matter how you check-in, your best bet is to call and make sure your 2 reservations (package and room only) are linked. If they are linked, then the resort will do everything they can to keep you from having to switch rooms.

Once the reservations are linked, it won't matter if you check-in once you arrive or online.

Online check-in does not assign a room, all it does is pre-register your information so that they can have your packet ready when you arrive.

Ohh okay thank you! That was the piece I was looking for...no room assignment on check-in...Thanks!
