Big River Brewing ~ yay or nay?

When expect to arrive at BC at 9:30 pm on our next trip. Looking for dinner options not requiring ADR. Thought about Big River and ESPN Club...the Big River menu looks good but I don't hear much about it. Thoughts?

nay

i didnt like it. the food is was average bar food

you could do better

Food and service wise ESPN is better.

Same as other posters- it was decent, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. Kids and hubby had good burgers and I had a chicken caesar salad that was tasty enough. Good for spur of the moment eats when you can't find a reservation elsewhere.

Best burger I've ever had at Disney World was at Big River. I'd definitely take it over ESPN -- which is just your typical sports bar..

If you go, suggest eating OUTSIDE if at all possible.

Inside is rather dank and smells of hops.

I'd go with Nay.

We ate there this past week and were really underwhelmed by both the food and the beer. I've never seen a waitress try to sell me on less product before as we were both going to order the beer sampler and she told us we should just split one. This made me question the quality of beer we'd be receiving and sure enough I was right. All except the Brown Ale were below average and not only were they out of their "signature" Rocket Red (how a brewery could be out of their supposed top choice is baffling) we were only given 5 samplers when there should have been 6. When I asked if they we could get a second of another one she said no, because they "Normally only have 5 on tap and anything else is just extra."

So wait a minute. You advertise 6 beers on your menu and at the bottom it says "order a sampler to try them all!" and yet you actually can't. Not only is that false advertising but you're a BREWERY! You just randomly leave one out every time you make a new batch? I was debating speaking to the manager to explain that I'm not a moron as you are clearly expecting your customers to pay full price for an item that you are blatantly not giving them full value on, but decided against it because I could see the conversation going absolutely nowhere.

That being said, the 10oz burgers were a prime example of quantity over quality and you can't order a burger below medium. The restaurant does have a prime location but was easily the worst meal we had on our trip due to poor quality in both food and beer and for purposefully trying to short-change customers on their "minus-1" beer sampler.

We have eaten at Big River several times and have never had bad food or service. In fact, one of our favorite things at arrival at either BWV or BCV is to sit outside Big River, eat, and just take in the surroundings....and yes, you can face the lagoon.

Hmmmm. Kind of thinking we should steer clear. We could try ESPN or Beaches and Cream...or maybe Boardwalk pizza...:scratchin

Good thing there's lots of choices!

Add Dolphin Fountain to your possibilities. Their burgers are wonderful!

Compared to ESPN, Boardwalk Pizza, it gets a big Yes from us. We ate there 2 weeks ago after our Disney cruise. Had the grilled Meat Loaf & Cheese soup, DW had a burger, no complaints whatsoever, plus the service was excellent. Maybe just lucky :thumbsup2 compared to those who gave it a Nay.
