Is the Sorcerer's Hat being removed??

I like the original tower ears myself for the park icon. Plus it blocks the Chinese Theater.

Seen thread below on my other attraction rumors I wanted to know about.

There are a LOT of rumors regarding DHS.

1. Hat being removed.
2. Beauty and the Beast show being replaced with Tangled.
3. Little Mermaid show being replaced with Phineas and Ferb.
4. Backlot Tour and LMA replaced with Carsland.
5. Indy show replaced with Indy ride.
6. Expansion to Star Wars area.
7. Jedi Academy moving to Sounds Dangerous building.
8. Monsters Inc Coaster coming.
9. Update to Great Movie Ride.

Unfortunately, they're all just rumors right now.

Yeah there is no telling, rumors are just rumors. I don't want to think about I have a headache or brain freeze .:headache:
Just hope whatever changes, its for the good and doesn't ruin any classics, no matter what park they do it in

Maybe they will replace the BAH with Darth Vader's Helmet. :happytv:

There have always been alot of Rumors about DHS. I for one would love to see then add in more. DHS is my 2nd favorite park and I think that they could do so much more with it. With them now owning the rights to Star Wars and Indiana Jones as part of the Lucas deal think what you could do with those. I for one would love to see Cars land there also. You can take out the car stunt show and make room. They could also take out the Indy stunt show and think how much that would open up for a Star Wars Land. All I can say is I for one hope some of the rumors are true..

Even though they are just rumors, I LOVE the ideas! Monster's Inc ride.....yes! Let's hope they're not rumors! :rotfl2::rotfl:

By 2015, Hollywood Studios will have a complete refurbishment. They are going to have 7 worlds in the park, just like Universal does. The Star Wars deal was the key to this refurbishment. The only worlds I know of will be the much rumored Cars World, Monstors Inc World, Oddity World, Toy Story World and the number 1 world, Star Wars World.

Star Wars will look exactly like tatooine. They will even have a restaurant that will feature that alien band, that plays that one song over and over again in the movie, where Obi and Luke look for Han Solo. The restaurant will have several animatronic type characters, that we have seen in the movie, along will Hans sitting at the table with Greedo.

This is all due to a study done in 2011-2012. They looked into guests staying in the resorts with at least a 7-day park hopper. What Disney found out is that everyone goes to Magic Kingdom and Epcott several times on their trip. Followed by Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios being the least favored park. It was found that more than 35% of guests with a 7-day park hopper will only go to Hollywood Studios 1 time during their stay.

This Star Wars deal was in the process at the time of the Star Tours refurbishment. Thats why now, we see so many Star Wars Characters. They new the deal was going to get done and thats why they were able to announce the release date so quickly, of Star Wars episode 7 in 2015, which will be two months after the Star Wars World is complete.

Along with other refurbishment plans, The hat is definetly a goner. From what I hear, there has been a 2 year development of the Hat's replacement that is nearly finished. I was told it of course will be something to do with Star Wars. Most Likely a huge replica of Vader fighting Luke.

Oddity World sounds like it will be very interesting, It will be near the Tower of Terror with perhaps Hitchcocks crazy themes. Areosmith ride will be changed as well and renamed.

Monstors inc will look exactly like the set of the film, with a thrill ride roller coaster being added.

From what I hear, Muppets and a few other places will be relocated to other parks to make room for each of these huge worlds. The Great Movie Ride, The Car Stunt Show and Backlot tour will be eliminated. With whats coming in, those will not be missed at all. All of the new worlds will have huge animatronic characters that will pretty much put Universal Studios to shame.

Lastly, Magic Kingdom is not done being renovated. Big time rumor has it that Stitch is a goner. That ride is going to be some sort of star wars walking conveyor type ride. A free flowing line like the TTA, but instead of sitting in cars, you will stand on a conveyor. It may be a tour of all the planets talked about in the Star Wars movie, or it might be a type of Great Movie Ride, with scenes from all the movies and secrets about the upcoming stories.

Very interesting post. I see that you are new to the boards, or a at least a new user name...lol...but thats alot of info. I would be very interested to see if some or all this is true. I agree with some of these things, because they make sense. But this sounds like a huge renovating to the park and to be done in 3 yrs before the movie comes out....we will see. I am interested to see what happens. Hopefully there are somethings they change but keep some flare of what I enjoy about HS. The big Luke fighting Vader when they remove the hat. I am on the fence about that. But thats just me.

Im not sure if it will be them fighting, but being that Star Wars was the key to all of this happening, it will involve them somehow.

I cant even say where this info came from, but I knew about the Fantasy Land Project 2-years before they even announced it, and when Star Tours closed for renovation, the same person told me to watch out for whats coming next.

I know rumors are rumors, but soon, one of the rumors I mentioned will be checked off the list and when that happens, you will know to watch out for the rest. Oddity World may be the quickest thing to appear.

Well you said fighting, so that is why I said that..:)
I am all for the expansion of a Star Wars land first and foremost..
A Cars World and Toy Story maybe. Oddity World..hmm...I would have to see more of this before I am aboard with that.

I know you said some things about the survey, about HS not being the most popular park, just putting in Star Wars World would probably change that as Cars Land did to DCA. Again, with those changes, it just sounds like a whole new park almost, makes you wonder. But I know there were alot of changes to DCA to with Cars Land, Buena Vista St, etc. Which looks awesome! I just like when you enter HS with the deco buildings and the Chinese theater if it wasn't blocked by anything. I think that looks great. But again I am just one person. We will see. Can't wait to see what other rumors pop up and what does happen.

I have no other words for what is bolded other than...disgusting.

Star Wars is ok I guess, but I don't think it should be the main theme of DHS. In fact, I'd probably go less than I do now. A smallish Star Wars themed section, sure...but having a giant Vader/Luke take the place of Sorcerer Mickey's Hat? I highly doubt that would happen. They can stick that in the Star Wars section, but don't replace Mickey's hat with that. :sad2:

Why would they make Monster's Inc. Land and Toy Story Land? Wouldn't they just expand the Pixar Studio's area they have now? :confused3

Let's just say...I'm definitely not holding my breath about this one.

I actually like a lot of the things you've listed... would love to see Cars land and the Monster Inc ride. The only thing I'm not on board with is the darth vader/ luke skywalker thing. I can see them removing the hat, it sort of doesn't fit although I can't see them putting something like that in. It just seems a little silly. Besides each park has their own identifying feature. MK obviously the castle, Epcot the globe, AK the tree and HS the hat... I just can't imagine that being replaced by a statue of vader/ luke...

I also DO NOT want HS to touch the Muppet Movie!!! I love that movie and will be very sad if it is removed... moved to a new location would be ok.

HS is actually my second favorite park. But it is starting to get stale and a new refurb is needed. I'm not holding my breath on any of these ideas. But maybe some of them will end up to be true!:thumbsup2

Agreed. Move the hat outside the gates, maybe, but replace it with nothing, at least not structurally. It just blocks the viewlines, and DHS doesn't need a "park center icon", especially if it's going to get in the way of eventual expansion by becoming off-center.

Oddity land? Sounds gross. And lame. And beneath Disney. I hope they don't go there.

I agree as well. I would like to see the hat moved to outside the gates and not replaced inside. There is no need for a "central" icon in DHS since it is not as symmetrically designed like the other 3 parks. I also preferred the Earful Tower as the "icon", but I'm okay with the hat.

The other ideas overall sound good, but I also don't want Star Wars as the main player in DHS. I would much rather Pixar be the most prominent presence.

Personally, I wouldn't stress one over the other. There should be a Pixar Land and a Star Wars Land, each holding their own on their own merits. I've heard some talk of expanding the Muppets area somewhat, too, though I don't hold out much hope for that. That still leaves an entire half of the park to dedicate to silver screen, small screen, and stage. (Though perhaps a section devoted to music/radio would be nice, too.)

Oddity World sounds like it will be very interesting, It will be near the Tower of Terror with perhaps Hitchcocks crazy themes. I hope they find a better name for it than Oddity World because it just sounds wrong. Areosmith ride will be changed as well and renamed. Boo. I like it as it is.

Monstors inc will look exactly like the set of the film, with a thrill ride roller coaster being added.Cool. From the moment I saw the door sequence in the movie I thought it would make a good coaster.

From what I hear, Muppets and a few other places will be relocated to other parks to make room for each of these huge worlds. Where would they put The Muppets? They make absolutely no sense anywhere else. The Great Movie Ride, The Car Stunt Show and Backlot tour will be eliminated. With whats coming in, those will not be missed at all. I will be sad if The Great Movie Ride goes. The others I don't care about. All of the new worlds will have huge animatronic characters that will pretty much put Universal Studios to shame. ?
