Kids menus

Upon reviewing the kids menus I realize that our ts adrs will be fine but counter service is going to be way more difficult to find something for ds to eat. He won't eat hamburgers, chicken tenders or nuggets, or Mac and cheese. He barely tolerates pizza so that will work once or twice and he loves peanut butter and jelly so I imagine he will be sustaining himself off of that. Believe me, it's not me, I've tried to cram those things into him from time to time but truth is, he isn't that picky of an eater. We have no trouble feeding him at home but we don't eat a lot of the kid norm junk food and he just hasn't grown a taste for it. He would prefer a salad over any of those choices. Has anyone else has experience with a kid who will eat most anything but kid favorites? Are their any good cs restaurants that you can suggest. I scoured allears but have only found Columbia harbor house and flame tree bbq with kid sized adult fare options. I'm sure I'm missing something Tia

I would check all the menus on thus site DIS and all ears. There are some kids salads with chicken and pb& j sandwiches. I believe Peco Bills at MK had pb& j. Also some of the resort qs have the smackers pb&j. I'll let you know if I find some!

Sunshine Seasons in Epcot does a plated meal for kids - chicken leg with mash and veggies - and a chicken caesar salad for kids.

Japan's counter service in Epcot does teriyaki chicken with rice and veggies for kids. China's counter service does sweet-n-sour chicken or some such thing, and I'd expect Yak and Yeti at AK may as well (we rarely eat at either of these).

Pretty sure the CS in Mexico has some variation on tacos or quesadillas or something like that for kids (we never eat over there, either, but it makes sense).

That is a relief... I'm glad he will be able to eat. I was worried I was gonna to deal with the kid entrees to get him to eat something. At last he can eat a salad. We are on the dining plan so we have those kids credits to use. Worse comes to worse, I'll share my meal.

Plan - Plan - Plan!

No need for a kid to get nugget'd to death on the Dining Plan. With some planning you can get an OK amount of variety from CS kids meals. I will say that I haven't seen many salads on the kids menu - but sometimes you can get a side salad as a snack credit - so maybe that plus another snack or two to make a meal for him. We do snacks for a meal for my dd sometimes - a muffin, smoothie and fruit will make a meal for her sometimes.

I find the resort food courts to have a great variety of kids options. Not sure where you're staying - but at Pop Century they have a pasta option, turkey sandwich and burritos.

Be Our Guest - CS lunch for kids has lots of options - Mahi Mahi, Meatloaf, etc.

Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT - Sweet & sour chicken and a caesar salad!

Main St Bakery in MK has great sandwiches same with Starring Rolls in DHS!

I have, on occassion, had one of the kids burgers and let my ds have my adult meal - so that's an option for you too.

There are salads available at most places..

They can get a salad at TS, but I don't know of any KIDS salads at a QS.

OP, there is a sticky on the Dining Plan sub-forum that lists which QS do not have a Kids' menu and therefore, the kids can get a regular entree. Check that out for some other options.

Unless you're using the Dining Plan, you can order whatever you like at QS - no need to stick to the official kids' menu.

One of the reasons I paid OOP for dining on our last trip instead of getting the dining plan was the fact that DD dislikes most of the kids' meals at the CS restaurants.

You can handle this a few different ways:
1) As PP mentioned, research the menus on allears.net and look for CS restaurants that offer kids' options that your DS will eat or look for places that don't have a specific kids' menu. If there isn't a kids' menu, then your DS can order anything on the menu. There's only a few of those places around.

2) Use your DS's CS credits for breakfast and pay OOP for the other meals. This worked for us when I used to purchase the DDP. DD liked the Mickey waffles, pancakes, etc. kids' meal options at breakfast. I'd order that for her using her CS credits, then at lunch or dinner, the portions were large enough that I'd order one CS meal plus pay OOP for an additional side and drink. Then she and I would share the CS meal and additional side dish.

3) Or you can pay to upgrade your DS to the adult DDP. To do this, you have to pay the adult price for tickets plus the adult DDP price. This may not be your best option financially since you said your DS will be fine ordering off the kids' menu at the TS meals. You would probably be better off with options 1 and 2 above.

Rather than list what he won't eat, what will he eat? If he doesn't like junk food (so much the better) then sharing some of your dinner with him is a possibility, just add an appetizer to supplement your meal! Also most of the better restaurants offer, grilled chicken, grilled steak, rice, stir fried veggies w/ noodles, pan roasted fish, shrimp, pasta which can come with or without sauce, just butter for kids! These are all on the kids menus!

QS- Turkey Sandwiches, Tuna Sandwiches, Salads, pastas, soup, chicken legs, from Cosmic Rays, Sunshine seasons, Columbia Harbor House, all on the kids menus.......

If he won't eat typical junk food I think you have more options available at Disney than you think!

My son never liked liked Mac/Cheese and/or Disney pizza ( I sincerely don't know how so many eat this stuff) He's always eaten what we ate, from birth, in and out of Disney

But these options are mainly on the kids' menus at the TS restaurants, and the OP stated their TS meals won't be a problem. Unfortunately, the kids' menus at the CS restaurants are much more limited, and that's where the OP can see there being a problem.

And I listed these, all counter service.... QS- Turkey Sandwiches, Tuna Sandwiches, Salads, pastas, soup, chicken legs, mashed potatoes from Cosmic Rays, Sunshine seasons, Columbia Harbor House, all on the kids menus.......

Here's more.........

Kid's menu items - Torguga Tavern, Kids Cheese Quesadilla, Peco's Bill Turkey Sandwich, Main St. Bakery, Ham & Cheese, Turkey & Cheese, Gaston's Fruit Cups, Veggies & Dip, Hummus & Chips, France, Ham & Cheese on croissant or baguette, Mexico Beef Taquitos, Cheese Quesadillas. You can get sides of udon noodles, broccoli, rice... Caesar salad w/ chicken. DTD-WPE, Spaghetti w/ Alfredo, Tomato sauce or butter, on the adult menu, Chicken Veg. Soup! Pollo Campero, they can get the family meal & share citrus grilled chicken, rice, beans ... Bongo's Cuban Walk Up Window, Kids Mini Cuban or Kids Mini steak sandwiches, adult chicken noodle soup.

We know what he won't eat, what he does eat is still a mystery other than Peanut Butter & salad!

Regarding CS options at DHS, they barely have any for adults much less children but other parks do better!

How old is your child? If you are staying on Stay Play and Dine offer, then the price for adult is the same as child, and you can upgrade his age to 10 to have more dining options. I just did this with my 7 year old daughter. Although she does not eat large quantities, she absolutely disliked the nuggets and Mac and Cheese at Disney. She loved the adult nuggets though! Since we are on the QSDP, and there is no difference in price, it made sense to do this!

BeasleyBoo is right. Healthy kids' choices are out there, and they aren't as scarce as some people assume. You just need to take the time to source them out. She has given some great ideas. And there are more if you take the time to carefully check the published menus.
