2013 Free Dining Watch

Yes, don't make my mistake!! Luckily, it was "only" a $63 mistake this time. C'mon free dining!! ;)

I just tried to book the exact same package that I have right now (without being signed up, just to check the current cost) with the S/P/D and it is $201 more than what we're paying for it! I'm glad I called the first morning that the offer was available for the GP. :cheer2:

second part.....register at disney website, save vacation offers, if the little question for cm pops up....ask some questions. pins are totally random but they have to have your email or home address to send it to ones who get them. ive never gotten one for the yr if we already have a res booked. ive heard of people getting them though even if they have a booking for that current yr.

Can the CMs in the little pop up window check and see if you have any pin codes? Seems like such a pain to call all the time. But I guess that's why they do it that way!

I've been watching and waiting for free dining (my in laws first Disney trip, and we are all going for 9 nights, last part of Feb/first part of March) and praying for the dining.... We do have the military rack rate booked (at Coronado Springs) but free dining would save more. And I saw that Splash will be down and we are all very sad!! The family tradition (at Disneyland) is a picture on Splash...

Wow, the only differences b/w your situation and mine is that we are staying 10 nights and are going in September. My in-laws are also going for the first time. Good luck on your FD term watch! :thumbsup2

We are planning our first family disney trip the week of January 21 2013 and our Travel agent told us today, that her Disney rep informed them that Disney will no longer be offering the "free dining" come Jan 2013. Has anyone else been told this or is there still hope?

We got a pin but didn't use it as it was only good on non-discounted rooms and it was for quick service as we are staying at Pop. The discount on the room worked out to be a better deal.

Free dining, as it has existed, will not run for 2013. It will be available as a rebooking bonus when you rebook while on property in some situations, and as a PIN for the first half of the year, but that may be it.

"Never again" is a tough thing to predict. But the rumor mill right now is that Disney hopes and expects the Fantasy Land Expansion to bump up the off-season crowds to the point where Free Dining won't be needed as a drawing card. If this is indeed the long-term plan, then two things seem assured. First, if crowd estimates fall below expectaions, a promotion will have to be created to bring people to the property. Free Dining is an obvious choice. Second, at some point in the (distant??) future, the FLE will no longer have the desired affect of bumping up the crowds, and when the numbers recede, promotions will come back to life. So "never" is hard to predict, but I wouldn't expect to see FD before next August/September at the earliest. I think that the FLE will carry Disney over through the winter and Spring.

A lot of people, according to this board and the Resort board, have been told this, but there is not any way to know if it is true or not.

If Disney feels they do not need to fill empty resort rooms fast, they will not offer Free Dining.

A friend of mine received a pin code in the mail for free dining in Feb 2013. So it would appear to me that this tumor is not true.

Also Disney typically does not put out offers for the whole year all at once. There is no way of knowing now what will or will not be offered for the summer. They will wait to see how many rooms are booked and whether or not they need to fill more.

There are pins out there. I received a FD pin and saved another $400 off my S/D/P cost. This is for 8 nights in January.

Had to cancel our Dec trip, husbands job...so now looking into Sept for free dining... hoping to get a code or I will watch for it around spring, usually is always offered for a few weeks in the fall...

If I vote for the wrong presidential candidate today, the economy stays bad/continues to worsen.

If the economy stays bad/continues to worsen, people can't afford to go to Disney.

If people can't afford to go to Disney, Disney offers FD to make it affordable.

If Disney makes it affordable, I get FD!!!

I THINK I WANT FREE DINING!!! :rotfl:
