Is there any point in asking?

We are doing 2 night stay at the Poly and my DH and I are debating whether to request a building or not...he thinks that because we are only there two nights they won't go out of their way to accomodate our requests. I disagree.

What does everyone think? is it worth asking for two nights?

Has anyone ever been upgraded at the Poly on such a short stay?

Can't hurt to ask, if there if a specific building you want. At least if you ask, there is a better chance you will get it than if you don't ask at all. We haven't done a 2 day stay, but we have always been put in the building we requested at the Poly.

It never hurts to make a request. No matter how long your stay is, Disney will make every attempt to meet your request. Don't forget, it's only a request.

And remember, you're going to WDW and staying at Poly!!

Make your requests, relax and count down the days until you're home again.

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn last January in a standard club level room. I requested a boardwalk view (I read that there are a few in the standard view category). We were granted our request and it was wonderful.

I don't think you will always get what you request as it is not guaranteed, but I think if your requested view/bldg., etc. is available you have a better chance of receiving it if you request it.

They will certainly try to accomodate you. It doesn't matter your length of stay. But keep in mind that it's "First come first served". I have had 3 different CM's tell me over the phone while booking my trips that the farther out you place a request, the more likely you are to get it. I have made requests for my last 5 trips and got them every time. Mind you I made the request at booking 8-9 months out. I'm sure there are folks out there that have gotten requests at shorter intervals. I would place yours asap to keep you in the running. Good luck!

My request I decided is samoa, first or third floor as we want balcony or patio. Should that be first before building?
Is it possible to say facing volcano pool??

I think i want third floor as i am nervous about people getting in to our room from patio. is that crazy?!

i would say a balcony room would be your #1 request...and its probably one of the more requested....

i would pick building #2 if the balcony is important. there are few rooms w/o balconies at Poly. We got a room w baalcony garden view in the building closest to Tranportation center . awesome for walking to mono to epcot or MK and not that far to walk to main building for dining etc. walking the resort at night is a highlight then to get to watch the fireworks and electricwater parade from beach is just icing on the cake.

My fav resort..not my daughters....be aware of some refurbs beginning soon. they will take 1 building at a time offline and furb it then move to another. this will definitely have an effect on requests/availabilty.

The more specific your request the less likely you will be to get it because there are less rooms that meet those specific criteria. There are more rooms with a balcony than rooms with a balcony that have a volcano view. Therefore your odds are better asking for a balcony.

I think the CMs type in exactly what you tell them and the resort will look at the notes I'm guessing. For our trip in January at AKL I originally requested a king bed (most important for us) on the 4th floor and within the room # range of x - y. Then I called back and just asked for a king bed on the 3rd or 4th floor. The king bed and 3rd or 4th floor were the two most important requests for us. The CM told me your more likely to get your requests if they aren't so specific (like asking for specific room numbers).

With that being said...you could also be as specific as you want and hope you get exactly what you wish for!!! You never know unless you ask!

Does't hurt to ask. We usually try to be as limited on requests as possible. When we do too, we only do one or two and make sure your first request is the one you REALLY want. The assigner has no way of knowing what request you truly want though they'll do their best to meet what you ask. Only asking for what we really REALLY want. One request we have learned to ask though now after our last trip, close to elevator! OMG! We always get the last room on the longest corridor! OYE! That one has suddenly become important. How long can this hallway go on?!?!

As others have said, it never hurts to put in a request, even though they are just requests and not guaranteed. I have found that the CMs will do their best to accommodate you. If you have more than 1 request, it's always best to put the most important one first, followed by second most important, and so on. On our first Poly stay, I put in 3 requests in order of importance (Samoa, first floor, facing volcano pool). When we checked in (which was around 1:00 A.M.), we were given Samoa, first floor, facing the quiet pool (with the CM offering to move us the next day to fulfill our request to face the volcano pool). We decided to stay put as we just wanted to get settled and not have to move the next day after getting in so late (and our view of the quiet pool was very nice), but that's just an example of how they try their best to accommodate requests .

The end of Aug we were staying at the Poly (3 night stay), and I still made requests for the Samoa building with the view of the Volcano pool. We still got our requests met . I say if you want to request something, go ahead....like others said, it is only a request and Disney will try their hardest to meet your needs .
