Emmysdaddy Joins the Damsels to Dine, Even with Princesses: Em started PDR see link

Fabulous review of the GFC, Brenda! I loved breakfast there and I am happy to see dinner didn't disappoint. The dessert platter is just fabulous! I would have stolen the Mickey, lol.

GFC looks really yummy. That burger is calling my name, along with the chips. Mark would definitely love that dessert sampler...especially the Chocolate Mickey. Now if I could just get him to step into the Grand Floridian. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Your dinner at GFC looks so good! Sorry that the horseradish cocktail sauce was relatively bland (I would also prefer it with a kick), but everything else looks fantastic. :goodvibes

The desserts also look really good - next time, I'm looking forward to ordering dessert from the regular menu (and hopefully someone else will receive our dose of pixie dust instead). :)

Sure wish I had made friends with the right people for some of that souffle!! But it was all good with our humble dessert plate! :)

I knew that your GFE review would make me regret that we didn't eat there in August. Although I really don't know what I would have wanted cancelled to fit it in! I just love the look of that dessert plate ... and your portion plate looks perfect!

Really glad that you enjoyed your meal. We will get there one day!

Awww Vicki, there's always next time, or the other next time in August.... :lmao:

Just so you know, I may or may not have just added a lunch ADR at GFC during our trip in Dec :rolleyes1

That burger looks delightful :)

Hmmmm... I hope you enjoy the lunch you may or may not have added to your December trip!! :flower3:

We went to GFC for dinner in June of 2011 and we REALLY loved it !! We have it back in our plans when we go back in November. I really love the currant rolls they serve in the bread basket. Soooo yummy. Thanks for sharing.

Is that what those rolls are?? I was scratching my head since I didn't ask and I didn't try one of those! Now I kinda wished that I had. Thanks for letting me know.

Great review of GFC! My parents have been raving about GFC for years and we finally got to try it for breakfast last year - very good! I'd like to make it back for dinner one day. The dessert sampler looks great - the lemon cheesecake looks very similar to the one they serve upstairs at Citricos.

I LOVE breakfast at GFC! It has been in our dining line up every trip! And yes, the lemon cheesecake looks exactly like the Citricos version - I've ordered that before. It's very good!

Fabulous review of the GFC, Brenda! I loved breakfast there and I am happy to see dinner didn't disappoint. The dessert platter is just fabulous! I would have stolen the Mickey, lol.

Ha! I would have let you steal the Mickey! I like chocolate in moderation and none of the dark stuff! But yes, Mickey was the "crowning glory" so to speak. :)

GFC looks really yummy. That burger is calling my name, along with the chips. Mark would definitely love that dessert sampler...especially the Chocolate Mickey. Now if I could just get him to step into the Grand Floridian. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

You may have to resort to dirty tricks to get him there but I'm sure it would be worth it. ;) I love that the burger is on a brioche bun - so buttery delicious.

Loved your review of GFC. I must have that salad sometime. The chocolate Mickey is just too cute to eat.

Thanks Rachel! Mickey actually ended up missing two ears and then a leg and then an entire torso. Apparently our adoration of this adorable treat didn't extend to preserving him. :p

And yes, that salad was soooo good!

My apologies that this is moving sooooo slowly. As the saying goes... life happens. In this case, my baby boy is coming home from the Army for 2 weeks before he is deployed to Afghanistan on December 15th. I will try to do a few more updates in the next couple of days but I am also going to enjoy the next couple of weeks with my son and his wife. When I hug him good-bye in a couple of weeks it will be with a sorrow that I know is shared by so many other moms that have been down this road before me.

And don't you dare worry about updating. Enjoy your time with you son...we can certainly wait a couple of weeks.

Whispering Canyon Cafe - Breakfast

DSC04641.jpg

DSC04645.jpg

This was our second time dining at Whispering Canyon Café which is fast becoming one of our favorite breakfast restaurants at WDW based on the food alone. The restaurant theming I like, the convenient boat ride I like, seeing the beautiful Wilderness Lodge I like, the sometimes annoying antics by the wait staff I cant say I like or dont like it would be like a neutral bubble in survey that represents neither like nor dislike.

We had an 8:30ADR for breakfast so after having to wait about 20 minutes for a boat we made it there a little after 8:30am. Apparently they were very forgiving for tardiness because they merely looked at their computer and said hmmmm, the clock in our system must be fast since you dont look the kind of people that would show up late for a meal! Ouch! We asked if Jeffro was working because we would love to be seated in his section. The host responded that we were out of luck since they fired him yesterday. This was about the time that Michael wondered where we had taken him to eat! He was a little unsure about eating at another restaurant where there may be some hollering and shenanigans going on during our meal. We assured him that Jeffro was the perfect counter to all the loud and obnoxious servers.

As luck would have it, Jeffro wasnt fired yesterday so we were seated in his section and he was just as calm and easy going as last time insert heavy sigh! Our 16 year-old was presented with a kids menu and crayons precious!! Jeffro quickly came over to introduce himself and take our beverage orders. Just be aware that WCC is not shy about drink portions here since they are served in large mason jars!

Em and I knew exactly what we wanted to order since we had loved the Belgian waffles last time. However, the moment that Jeffro announced their breakfast specials we had a dilemma. There was a banana foster French toast featured!!!! Being the clever duo that we are, we ordered a waffle breakfast, a scrambled egg substituted for meat and a bananas foster French toast with egg as well to split. Michael ordered the egg white omelet which has spinach, goat cheese and chipotle pico and is served with a biscuit and fresh fruit. He also ordered a pecan sticky bun.

While awaiting our food Em had coloring activities to keep her busy while Michael and I admired the teepee lights in the restaurant and counted how many ketchup bottles there were at any one time on the tables.

DSC04680.jpg

The food arrived having already been split in the kitchen which was unexpected but very nice! Michaels omelet looked really good and what do you know, the spinach was inside the eggs!! He passed on the fresh fruit since he is not a melon lover and thus far all the breakfast fresh fruit options were heavy on the melon varieties. He really liked his breakfast and was very happy with his choices.

Egg White Omelet with spinach, goat cheese, chipotle pico and a biscuit (normally served with a side of fresh fruit as well): $11.99

Pecan Sticky Bun: $3.99

As for the waffles and French toast& Holy Deliciousness Batman!!!! The waffles are served with maple butter and candied pecans. We had ordered the pecans on the side since Em is not a nut lover it just meant more for me in this case! The waffles was just as good as last time and the scrambled eggs were perfect. The banana foster French toast was amazingly good!!! The toast itself was prepared with a banana bread which was dipped and cooked to perfection and then served with a side of banana foster sauce. Words cant begin to describe the serious happiness that I was feeling eating this meal.

After chatting with Jeffro about the wonderful options on the menu that we would definitely come back to try he said that he was going to bring Michael a second breakfast entrée. Michael had a look on his face that said oh nooooo!!! He was trying to not overdo the eating this trip but he didnt want to be rude so when Jeffro presented him with an order of BBQ Eggs Benedict they were so awesome looking that he dug in without regret!

The Barbeque Eggs Benedict are poached eggs on English muffins with Tasso pork and BBQ hollandaise sauce served with roasted red potatoes. They looked lovely and Michael said that it was very good.

We chatted some more with Jeffro and the topic of food allergies came up and he explained that they have a separate area of the kitchen for which they prepare meals for people with certain food allergies. They keep records for at least 30 days of what was served to someone with a food allergy and how it was prepared. It certainly sounded like Disney has a good plan in place to address this potentially serious health issue.

We took a few photos with Jeffro and paid our bill which was $48.44 that included $9.39 in TiW savings and no, we were not charged for the BBQ eggs benedict. I adore this place and look forward to returning!

Hi there alliebelle! Thanks for reading!! I notice in your ticker that you will be staying at my two favorite resorts for your honeymoon! And during such a great time of the year! Congratulations!!!

Brenda, your son looks so handsome in his uniform. Please tell him to stay safe and thank him for serving his country.

And don't you dare worry about updating. Enjoy your time with you son...we can certainly wait a couple of weeks.

Kathy - thank you so VERY much for your kind words - they really mean a lot to me. :goodvibes The funny thing is that I may be able to clear my schedule and take a few days off and then I'll probably be updating more since my son and DIL have so many friends to see that I'll be sitting here on the DisBoards!!! :rotfl2:

thanks again my lovely Dis friend!

Enjoy your reviews and pics! Take your time we will be here!:goodvibes Many thanks to you handsome son for serving our country! You must be very proud! :lovestruc

Great review of WCC bkfst :thumbsup2

That bananas foster French toast --- MY OH MY!! That looks sooooo heavenly!

Dont even worry about the lack of updates for a few weeks. We all totally understand. Enjoy your time with your son. You must be so proud of him. We are all so grateful to our military and their sacrifices they make for us.

 Enjoy the time with your family. Thank him for serving us and his country and thank you and everyone around him who supports and loves and gives him the strength to do what he does. My BIL is in the military and as much as he means to me, I can't imagine being a parent or wife in those same shoes. And once again you have such a beautiful family!

What a great picture! Thank you to Chad for serving our country and thank you to you for raising him! Enjoy your family, no worries about the reviews. We will be here whenever you are ready!

WCC looks awesome. Breakfast was the one meal we really enjoyed there. (Not so much the icky skillet at dinner!). We have talked about going back either for breakfast or maybe even lunch but as we know, you just can't fit in everything!

Your breakfast at WCC looks wonderful, Brenda! That is one meal that I have never had there. I just might have the opportunity though if we end up staying at WL for part of our March trip...assuming we do go in March, which is still iffy. ;) If we end up staying in the Epcot Resort area the whole time, then I know that there is zero chance of my family getting their butts out of bed and hauling them all the way over to Wilderness Lodge for breakfast. It would never happen...no way, no how! :rotfl2:

Regarding your son, I was just thinking about him last weekend when I read on emmebear's thread that her brother was just deployed to Afghanistan on Sunday. He is with the Army Reserve and has already served in Iraq. Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful two weeks with him and your daughter-in-law. My thoughts will be with you on the 15th of December and I will of course be praying for your son's safe return to his family.

Brenda, your review of WCC's breakfast sounds very tempting. Without going into details, we had a horrible meal at dinner there and won't go back. We never even considered breakfast, but after your review, I think I might be willing to give it a shot.

We've been on vacation for the last week and I come back to so many updates, yaya!!
That cupcake from SS, looks amazing! I love pineapple coconut, and the piña colada! Yummy, I was in the Bahamas and spent the last week drinking those all day! :beach: :drinking1
Too bad about The Wave, I've seen some nice lunch options but I don't think the breakfast is for me either. Though the convince at BLT can't be beat!
Ahhhh LeCellier, one of the top meals I am so looking forward too. That mushroom filet! What a nice touch with the champagne!*:goodvibes
I haven't heard much about GFC for dinner but this is the second review I have seen recently and they were both great! My DF would adore that burger, and it really does look delicious. And both salads as well, I love a good salad. Especially ones with bleu cheese crumbles and nuts!
I would have definitely gotten the Banana Fosters french toast at WCC. I agree about the shenanigans so it's nice to have the option of a "calmer" server lol! I laughed too because my DF name is Jeffrey and his brother and cousins all called him Jeffrow! It was really sweet of him to bring Michael that second entree, I love eggs benedict (without the pork for me though!).
Whewww, had a lot of commenting to do :rotfl:

I would also like to say that is a lovely picture of you and your son. I also thank him for his service and of course hope for his safe and speedy return. Enjoy your time with them*:flower3:

I am such a breakfast person and WCC seems like the perfect place for me! The waffle, french toast, and the eggs benedict all look delicious. I seriously may be making belgian waffles tonight as a result of this.

I love that your waiter brought out Michael another meal... how random and funny!

I'll be thinking of you and your family on December 15. I've had a number of family members serve in Afghanistan, including one that we lost, so I know the sacrifice and the heartache that accompanies those deployments.

Thank you so much for the well wishes!

I just tried WCC for the first time for dinner last year and was pleasantly surprised. That french toast looks heavenly! It's almost like a dessert for breakfast :)

Whew, all caught up again! :thumbsup2 Between being away on our own trip to the World and then returning to a mountain of laundry and a full work schedule I really fell behind in my DR reading, LOL! I'm really enjoying your reviews Brenda, as you visited many of the restaurants we've enjoyed in our travels, as well as some we haven't that I'm determined to put into our rotation. We haven't been to WCC in years but that waffle and bananas foster french toast looked AH-MA-ZING! I think it's past time for a return visit. :woohoo:

I'm looking forward to your LTT review, DH and I had a wonderful experience there on our trip and I hope you did as well!
