ANZACs in November/December 2013... register here!

I'll be taking my DD (16) to spend 8 days at the Poly instead of her going to schoolies on the Gold Coast after year 12. I win!!

Trying to organise a similar trip with DD -except will probably do NYC for a week and 4 days at DLR. (only a pipedream at this stage)

Would like to ask my sister and her DD to tag along - and maybe mother too.

Noone else knows my plans, but if I put it out there, it could happen. :scratchin

Planning a surprise vacation for November 9-15, 2013 for our DS's (they think we may go in 2014). DH and I are super excited about being at Disney to see the Christmas decorations. We will stay at POR because it feels like home to us. My oldest DS told me a few weeks ago, "Mama, I really miss Disneyworld. Do you ever get homesick for it?" How could I not start planning!?!? pixiedust:

We are a couple of months of being ready to buy we just went looking to see if we wanted to build which was the plan or if we would be happy with an existing house not expecting to find something we liked its been on the market for 4 months and we dont think it will sell in hurry it backs on to a highway and is quite noisy in the backyard but DH assures me we can reduce the noise so if it is still for sale when we are ready we will relook at it we were the only people at the open and the agent was very happy to see us :lmao:
Funny thing is ds15 who has been desperate for us to buy a house is now saying Mum i am wondering if you should wait till i turn 18 and then you dont need a house so big and we could do more traveling I figure i may as well milk it whilst your paying :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I just about fell over but i do like his way of thinking ;)

Your DS is one smart cookie!
It sounds like exciting times ahead for you. I hope everything goes well with the purchase!

JnD4eva - let me know if you meant to be included here, we're an Aussie/Kiwi group and you might not have picked that up! But hey, if you can handle planning with an accent... ;) ;)

Actually, since you are done, what dates do you have and I can update the first post? And are you doing DL or WDW? :)

(Ha ha ha, as I wrote yours in a moment ago, I thought "November", typed "November", and read it as "November", posted and checked it and it said December lol. Must have my own trip on the brain :rotfl: )

You MUST include toilet breaks, drink stops plus the obligatory photo locations :)

Or you can just be like me and live life on the edge and wing it :thumbsup2

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Looks like I might be able to squeeze in here maybe! Less than 6 months after returning from our first trip to WDW we have now started to plan returning hopefully late Dec 2013 for at least 3 weeks. So far we have me, DH, DD who will be 7 and turn 8 over there, DD who will be 3, BIL, maybe my parents too.

Bump!

I've booked the Disney side of our travel, though of course it's always open to change... plenty of time to work out the rest I'm sure!! :thumbsup2

I'm just hoping work picks up for me this term and next year otherwise our two month trip will have to be scaled back :(. Then again, there's always the money we're ahead on on the home loan :)

I'm feeling extremely broke this week too. We are a few years ahead on home loan (like 8! Lol! ). But I really don't want to touch that. Bloody unexpected medical bills though! :(. Chiro for me and speech path for DS1 and suddenly we are on bread and water for the next 11 months!

I feel your pain with speech pathology... currently paying $105 a week for that at the moment (except for those first couple of visits that weigh in at $240 for 'assessments')... sigh! I need to look up how much we can claim back on health insurance, if anything at all. You could be out of pocket thousands in a year and the HE company will graciously write you a check for your full $24 or whatever it is, lol.

And I feel your pain with Chiro too, incidentally. Many years ago I trained in Chiropractic. I dropped $60,000 on that degree, but found it way too political and sales-driven to suit the kind of person I am, so walked away at the last goal post. At least I can 'crack' hubby's back though eh, even if I can't give myself free adjustments ;)

$60,000. That's like two massive "once in a lifetime" trips to WDW (WITH a cruise) :lmao: The last $33,000 of my student loan was paid in one lump sum three years ago when we sold our NZ house and bought here. That was a sad day, that was!

I don't like to concentrate on the 'hows' of paying for these trips. We are ahead on the mortgage too, though if we keep taking trips like this we won't get more ahead and that feels somehow wrong. But for this trip anyway, I have my head firmly in the sand and I am not thinking at all of the 'hows' when it comes to the budget ;) ;) That's when the little angel on my shoulder (could only be an angel ;) ) reminds me that life is short and our time here isn't to be taken for granted, and I'm making memories with my children, and blah blah blah whatever justifies it!! :rotfl:

Fran, I had a wake up moment aFew years ago which made me decide that these trips were really important. My DH and I worked hard pre-kids to really smash our mortgage. When the kids came along we were still pretty much in the same mindset and saving for our big trip in 2015. Then I realized how magic toddlerhood is and started imagining how my kids would react to different things in Disneyland. We decided we couldn't wait, so off we went to Japan. It was so fun (of course!) and some of those memories are burnt into my memory so strongly. The kids still talk about it and DH and I are always saying things like "imagine DS3 when he sees Mickey...". Our 2015 savings are still going strong, but now we have added Disneyland next year as well. The mortgage isn't decreasing as much, but it's just a house. We aren't going to have any lasting memories of reaching $200k on our mortgage, but our Mickey memories aren't going anywhere :)
