I am trying to decided which resort and time frame for our trip next year so that I can put a deposit down and start giving Disney every last cent I have :rotfl2:

So time frame first... I am looking at the end of 2013. My husband and I both really love halloween and christmas so sometime in Oct-Dec. I would like to pick a week with low crowds and not terrible weather. Add to that I would like to pick a week that will most likely be included in any promos that they might release. I am leaning towards early Dec. Any opinions on Dec 1-7th?

More importantly the hotel! I really, really want to stay at the new AoA but I am worried that it won't be included in any discounts that may be available. Our second choice would probably be Movies. I really need to do this cheaply as possible but I am convincing myself that the pretty shiney now hotel would be worth the extra $.

So sometime in Oct thru Dec on the cheap...when would you go and where would you stay Disney experts?

It is never too early to plan a WDW vacation. It looks like you have narrowed your time frame and resorts down so that will help out a lot in planning. The 2012 offers for October through December for AOA and Movies look like this:

Percentage Savings:

For stays most nights September 30 October 6, October 14 20, October 28 November 3, November 11 16, November 24 December 1 and December 10 22, 2012:

Save 15% at Disneys Art of Animation Resort (Family Suite Rooms)

For stays most nights October 7 13, October 21 27, November 4 10 and December 2 9, 2012:

Save 5% at Disneys Art of Animation Resort (Family Suite Rooms)

Please note that some resorts have been excluded from the discounts, or are discounted a very small percentage (5%). Those resorts include All-Star Movies, Port Orleans French Quarter, Bay Lake Tower, Beach Club Villas and the Villas at Wilderness Lodge.

As you can see, depending on when you stay the percentages differ. Also, ASMovies is only 5% off the entire time. It may be different for 2013 but this is a guide for discounts.

Try to decide if you want to go during October for Halloween Party (MNSSHP) in MK and Food & Wine Festival in Epcot or MVMCP (Christmas party) in December. Not sure about crowds first week in December. Hopefully, someone else can answer that question for you. There are so many fun things to do. You just need to decide what suits you and your family the best. Happy Planning!):goodvibes

First week of Dec. would be perfect!! Lighter crowds and fantastic weather-we love going to Disney that time of year!! Christmas decor is up everywhere too!! We stayed at Movies and really enjoyed it!!

October Dates: 2nd or 3rd week, you would be able to do MNSSHP and they usually have discounts around that time.

November: 2nd week, it will be before Thanksgiving and I went the 2nd week of Nov. in 2011 and the crowds were very low!

December: The first week like you have said would be probably the best time to go in December because that week will probably have the lowest crowds for the month of December, you will be able to do Mickey's Christmas party if that interests you and all the Christmas lights will be up <3

As for a resort, Port Orleans French Quarter would be my pick because its nice and quiet and there aren't many people there plus it doesn't cost as much as a deluxe would. If you do go in December, you should definitely book Wilderness Lodge because it is very cozy and Christmasy. Wilderness Lodge is a deluxe so it will cost more, but it's worth it. AoA is a very cool resort also but it does cost A LOT of dough. :)

As a heads up, Pop Warner is Dec 7-14 with the rooms blocked Dec 5-15. It is unlikely that they will offer any specials (room discount, free dining) during those dates.

In December all the Halloween stuff will be over. In October, the Holiday stuff won't be up yet. So, it's one or the other. For avoiding crowds, I would suggest you look at school calendars.

I would avoid:
1) The week of Columbus Day (we have 3 school days off for Fall Break) and there's usually black-out dates for promotions.
2) The week after that in October because it's Fall Breaks and Gartner Syposium and there's usually black-out dates for promotions.
3) Veteran's Day - some schools have 1- a few days off around this time.
4) The entire week of Thanksgiving (we have the entire week off)
5) Christmas

That leaves end of October (Oct 20 something) to early November (Nov 9 or so). And end of November (after Thanksgiving) to early December (Nov 26 or so to Dec 5 or so).

Note: Jersey Week is Nov 2, but that is one state. I think most other school districts are in session at that time. The blogs I read seem to think there's not much impact. You may be able to stay through Veteran's Day into Nov 14 or so too.

How many people are going with you? Do you have any children coming along? If so, what are their ages? It's hard to give advice because all the resorts are great. Have you ever stayed on property before? If you had to choose a favorite theme would you prefer Halloween decorations or Christmas? :)

We have gone in both October and December and both times are great times to go. October is still warm enough to swim and you can attend MNSSHP. But, December is also a great time to go as MVMCP is going on and everything is decorated for the holidays :santa:. I agree with the pp that if you go in December, price out the WL. The WL is a beautiful resort any time of year, but especially so during Christmas time. The lobby is gorgeous all decorated and the huge fireplace surrounded by rocking chairs gives the lodge a very homey feel :cloud9:. With all of that said, either month is a great time to go as there is alot going on and Disney is great any time of year :goodvibes.

You never know though - twice we've been during Pop Warner and we've gotten a room discount or free dining. It just depends on your arrival day.

If you plan it just right you could catch the last MNSSHP and the first MVMCP, I think.
