I often have a glass of wine at bedtime to help me go to sleep. I would like to bring a bottle with me when I head to Disney in 2 weeks. I will be staying at the Pop.

First I am wondering if I would be able to keep the wine cold in the fridges they have at the Pop.
Second I am wondering if I will have any problems with the airline carrying a bottle of wine in the luggage I have checked

I shipped wine to myself last time and plan to do it again. Nice to have it in the room at night. I don't know about keeping it cold though. I'm a red wine drinker so that's not an issue for me.

It's illegal to ship alcohol unless you have a license to do so. You can pack it in your checked luggage but make sure you wrap it and double bag it. If you have seen the way the handlers toss that luggage you will want to be careful that it doesn't break on your clothes (and everyone else's).

We have packed it before and we buy styrofoam containers specifically made for packing wine and then wrap that in plastic.

I always bring my own, my DH and DS go to bed early, and I like to stay up and unwind with a glass of wine! I started packing a Bota Box in my checked suitcase - it's not the highest end wine, but it's okay, and I don't have to worry about it breaking. It fits in the fridge fine and gets nice and cold.

I also second the boxed wine in your checked bag, not a bad idea. Otherwise, I know Garden grocer does deliver wine.

I would only be bringing one bottle. I would think if I wrapped it up in bubble wrap, then wrapped it in my thick hoodie it should make the trip without breaking. I was just concerned about if there was regulations against traveling with wine in your suitcase or more importantly being able to chill it while I was at Disney

Yes, I've done the same thing myself. I packed my one bottle of wine in bubble wrap, then in a towel. Stuck the whole thing into a large ziploc baggie. Then, wrapped that in another towel and a larger ziploc baggie.
Of course, when I got to Epcot on that trip, I found the exact same bottle of wine in WS..it was Food and Wine time!! Of course, it was twice as expensive though!!!

We ALWAYS take wine with us on trips. Whether we drive or fly. It's for personal consumption, not for selling so it's fine.

OP - I think your idea of the bubble wrap and the hoodie is a good one. Go with that and relax. Or, get a box and whatever you don't want to bring back, you leave for housekeeping.

I understand the idea of saving $, but if the stress of shipping outweighs the ease, you might consider buying a few bottles when you arrive. You can purchase on property, or, have some delivered from off-site. This might save you some grief in the long run, even if it doesn't save you $.:wave2:

I witnessed a lady at MCO who's suitcase had a bottle of red wine in it that broke, not a pretty sight. To me it just wouldn't be worth the risk.

There's a product I have used before to pack wine in my suitcase when returning from Italy. It's called Wine Skin, and it seemed to get the job done. I think I also wrapped the wine in the wine skin in a sweatshirt or something, but I did like the convenience and ease of using the pre-made sleeve.

I've never stayed at Pop, but every other Disney resort I've ever stayed in has had chilled bottles of wine available in the gift shop. Yes, it will be more expensive than buying it at home. But it's much less trouble than trying to travel with it (in my opinion). And when compared to the overall cost of a Disney vacation, it's not that much extra money (again, in my opinion). Or, if you have a car, you can go buy a bottle at one of the local grocery stores.

There really are some very simple options, and it's perfectly OK to have the wine in your room.

Also --- one more thing ---- if you do have a car, you can pick up a cheapo styrofoam cooler at the grocery store or Walmart so that you can keep your wine on ice. When you leave Disney, just leave the styrofoam cooler behind.

Right. I was going to post that it's simplest to just buy what you like in the gift shop.

You have it shipped by the store or winery. They are happy to do it. Not at all illegal.

Not true. All states are different; for instance Florida cannot ship wine out of state. Many people ask if they can purchase in Epcot and send home.

It is best to at least google the answer before you respond if you are not sure; the PP posted the best resource regarding shipping liquor across state lines.

Please, please, PLEASE if you put it in your checked luggage double bag it! Do it for all the other people who have luggage stored with yours. I would not be a happy camper if I found my luggage wet with wine because it wasn't packed well enough and the bottle broke.
