Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2011

We got home Sat from 8 days a CSR. The new keys are the best. You barely had to touch the door with the key and it unlocks. Big helps when your hands are full. The card work like it always did for park tickets, fast pass and charging.

We just got back on Sat as well and I would very much agree that the RFID is a big win.

Just booked CSR for 12/16 - 12/20 for a trip with my DS (26). Have stayed at numerous other WDW resorts, but this will be my first time at Coronado. My son stayed there for one night while he was in the College Program (Spring 2009) and got upgraded to a junior suite. Sure I will not be so lucky. Booked standard room and requested top floor in Casitas 4. Cannot wait to be back in WDW!

It's very beautiful there .... aaaahhh .... now you've got me daydreaming about it.

Just got back after a 10 night stay. Got Casitas 5, felt like we were on the opposite side of the world than everything, but ya know what, that didn't really matter.

After staying at All Star Movies, All Star Sports, POR, Pop, and CBR we have finally found our home resort.

I don't think it was any one thing but a combination of a lot of little things. So I shall list them.

-loved the wooden sliding doors between the beds and sink area.
-appreciated how quiet the resort was, never even heard our neighbors though we knew we had them.
-the pool was amazing.
-I love the 3 Caballeros movie, so it was awesome to have them featured in the gift shop and around the lobby.
-We were able to park right next to our room.
-resort grounds were just beautiful.

We had the chance to do a bounce back to AKL or WL, and we took some time to really think about it. We really like to do free dining...and really, for the price difference, we felt like AKL and WL don't really offer anything more. I think Coronado has a better pool than either of those. I don't really want to pay more to get a savanna view at AKL. The boat to MK at WL would be nice, but not enough to justify the increase in price. We went to both AKL and WL to visit during our stay and they were both so much busier than Coronado. While the deluxes have better restaurants, we really don't mind driving to another resort to eat, as long as we drive and don't take the bus it only takes about 10 minutes to drive to most places.

So I think we've decided, we'd probably request a different building next stay, maybe one of the cabanas. But Coronado is definitely our new home resort. Feels good to have a home resort :cool1:

Oh, and I'd like to show off my window display:

Awesome! So glad you loved it! We call it our moderate home lol. We did 7 nights there 9/28-10/5 followed by 2 nights AKL Savannah. We had Casitas 5 too! Room 5306, loved our room. We got Casitas 3 last time which is preferred and really an awesome location.

I'm so glad you found a "home" and you've made me very excited about our return "home" in 53 days. :goodvibes

Just made last payment for DD's surprise 13th birthday trip to CSR 12/7 to 12/18 with free dining!! Haven't been there in 4 years....and major changes?!

Just returned home Saturday. We did a split stay with CSR for 2 nights followed by 6 nights at BC. We have only stayed at deluxe resorts in the past, and it was a much different experience.

We pulled up to check in and expected help with our bags. instead we were told to park in a 30 minute parking area, then we could move the car to the lot near our room to unload our bags.

The check in experience wasn't great. The online check in line was long, and moved slowly. We requested cabanas both on our reservation and on online check in, but were put in the Ranchos section. Not the greatest location.

Our room was not cleaned during our 2 night stay. We weren't in the room very much during the day and were surprised to come back to find our room just as we left it. We didn't contact housekeeping about having it cleaned because by the time we realized it hadn't been cleaned it was late in the day, and we were checking out the next morning.

It just wasn't a positive experience. We tried to move to BC after the first night, but it was sold out. It's not likely we will return to CSR.

On a positive note, the resort was beautiful and we loved the Dig Site pool.

We arrived Monday, October 8th departed Saturday, October 14th. Check-in took about 10 minutes. Did online check-in. We had booked standard room no requests. We were in Ranchos, building 7B room 7553. LOVED IT! The quiet pool was outside our door. Very nice pool. The main pool was great too. The slide is fun. Had a mango margerita. Tasty. The resort is beautiful. It was a nice hike to El Centro (10 minutes fast walking). Didn't visit there much so it didn't really matter. The workers at Cafe Rix were not the friendliest but okay. I think they should have made that place a slight bit larger. Our room was ready at 11 am and was kept clean. The room was a little worn. Beds were super comfy. Didn't like the pillows but I never do so I brought my own. Our AC was cold, liked the ceiling fan. Laundromat was right beside the quiet pool. Used it once.

We used bus stop 4. During our visit it never took longer than 10 minutes for a bus and we didn't have to stand. Only coming back from MNSSHP did we stand. Nice older lady gave up her seat for my daughter, who is 7 and 4'6" and gets terrible growing pains in her legs which happened to start while standing on a bus after midnight. My daughter tried to cry silently and the nice lady (must have been a grandma) couldn't take it and gave my DD her seat. I gave my DD Tylenol every morning after that and it seemed to help. Anyway, I can see this bus stop would stink during very busy times.

We had perfect weather, wait times and bus service. Very good trip. Will stay here again.

Does anyone have an up to date breakfast menu for cafe rix? The one on allears is older and lists breakfast sandwiches but I thought I read somewhere that they now have french toast platters with some other things.

Going for an Adult only trip for the Princess half marathon. Just switched from AoA LM room to the grown up resort of CSR! :)

It looks fabulous! Any tips for a newbie? We didn't get a preferred room- should we?

We went in Aug and we did not get the preferred room, no regrets either. The resort is spread out beautiful.

We will be staying at Coronado Nov 24th thru 30th. Our youngest will be 8 months and sleeping in a pack n play... has anyone ever used (either their own or one of Disney's) in a room here? Looking at room pictures and trying to decide the best location to us the pack n play. Any suggestions, experiences would be most helpful.
