Revenge of the Mummy question

I know this probably sounds nuts, but I'm scared of all things Egyptian, specifically curses. I just read somewhere that the warnings on the walls of the ride are actual Egyptian warnings. Is this true? I can just see myself freaking out that I've been cursed from a ride, but at the same time I really want to ride it. HELP! :worried:

The warnings are real, the curse is real, the mummies are real. HOLD ON TO YOUR SOUL! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I understand where you are coming from. I wanted to be an archaeologist, but the idea of digging up things that I wasn't supposed to, along with other reasons, helped pull me out of that idea.

But I really really doubt that there are real curses. And even if they were, ancient Egyptian priests didn't put them there; construction workers did. But back to really doubting they are real; remember, at the heart of that theme park is show business, and I know that people in that business can be superstitious, so I just really doubt a REAL curse would make it into a ride. And again, some modern guy wearing jeans would have copied it there, without malicious intent at all.

I'm superstitious, but I loved the ride, and if anything, my life has gotten infinitely better since I experienced the attraction! (knock wood) (or, rather, laminate coffee table from Ikea to be exact) No apparent curse at all! Ride it, it's fabulous!

It's not like the ride was built on an ancient Egyptian burial ground or anything. It used to be the Kong building. So unless Kong is going to seek his revenge, I think you are safe.

I'm graduating in the spring witha degree in archaeology (emphasis on egyptology). Almost all heiroglyps ar ound the ride are indeed real. However!!! There are very very few harmful curses (like 2 known). 95% of Egyptian tomb art and writing is for protection of the deceased. The idea of the cursed tomb is mostly all Hollywood .

If you are afraid of all things egyptian then I'm not sure going on a high speed thrill ride through an egyptian pyramid would be the ride for you....I've been on the ride and honestly, the possibility of curses on the wall was the last of my worries...

Your fear of Egyptian things is no more nuts than another person's fear of heights, snakes, closed in places, open places, etc.

My daughter has a fear of spiders and will be closing her eyes during part of the Forbidden Journey ride. However, since Revenge of the Mummy has a total Egyptian theme, that probably wouldn't work for you. Trying to think logically doesn't usually help with phobias so KNOWING that the runes aren't real curses may not help either.

:grouphug: It will be ok to just skip that attraction. There is plenty of other things to do and see.

Kong will not seek his revenge as long as his tribute statue remains in the Mummy ride. The day it's moved then they'll be issues.
