I always try to put away atleast $5-10$ every time I get paid. Also if you know anyone that has a timeshare they can get you for tickets at a discount.

I just changed my car insurance from geico to 21st century. Went from paying $2400.00 a year to $1200.00 a year. The airfare for my trip to DLR is going to be $1600.00. Almost covered my airfare

Wow! Such great ideas everyone! I am glad everyone has carried on with this thread. I love seeing what others do to save. We just got back from Disney about 3 weeks ago, so we have been so busy! This is my first time back on the boards since way before our trip! We managed to save enough in roughly a year (once I actually started saving!) to pay for a trip that cost about $10,000. We have 5 kids, so everything costs double! We are about to start saving for a 15 years late honeymoon for hubby and I for next November, so I can't wait to see more ideas. Good job everyone!

For our trip next June we're doing a combination of things. First, we put $50 per pay period into our "vacation account." We should also have between $800 and $900 in cash back rewards from our credit card by the time of our trip. We also have $200 in Disney gift cards purchased through the SCRIPT program at our kids school. I called last year to cancel a credit card we were no longer going to use. To entice me to keep it open they offered me a 10% rebate on all gas purchases up to $200/month for a year. This should give us a $260 credit on the card this February which I will use to buy a $300 Disney gift card. Oh yeah, we also have a change jar that all of our coins go into. Finally, we're going to drive rather than fly, which should save us several hundred dollars. When it comes to Disney trips we do whatever it takes.

The only thing I do is have separate bank account (about 8 of them). I set up automatic deposit into each and I don't miss the $$$$. They are all savings. A trip fund...car fund etc. And I don't touch them unless it's for the purpose intended. I can monitor it online and its easier for me. I've been doing it for about 10 yrs now. Works great

My work offers as scheme where you can takes salary deduction. The money deducted gets put into an account where you can only withdraw it in vouchers or buy items from a specific website.

Lucky for me, one of the voucher options is for a travel agent. Doing it this way rather than putting it into a savings bank account stopped me chipping into it.

Also, as soon as payday came around we would work out what we needed for the month and went straight to the agent to pay off what we could afford.

Good job guys! I wondered if anyone would resurrect this thread again!

I don't have any new savings strategies except maybe that I have branched off and started selling some different items on Ebay to help with our trips.

Hubby and I were going to go back in November, but decided not to. Instead...we are moving our trip up to April! I am so excited. My best friend and her husband and kids are coming too. We are booking and paying it off this week! Yeah baby!

I love all of your savings ideas! You guys rock! I sort of fell off of writing my ideas on how to save in other areas. It has been really busy these last couple months. I quit my job teaching karate, so it has been a big adjustment for me! Hope everyone is well!
