Southwest Winter Fare Sale 40% off

Just saw that SW is having a winter fare sale. Check it out if you're looking for SW fares in Jan or Feb 2013. Just got Baltimore to Orlando RT fare for $77 down on a Friday night and $69 returning on a Monday night - not bad!:thumbsup2

I am hoping the great flight prices I just found for my brother and sister-in-law will be enough for them to go! Now I am just hoping tht the small town carriers near us follow the big airlines and drop their prices!

I got the email this morning. Valid 11-28 - 2-14 with blackout dates during December-early January. We were able to change our flights and save a bunch. We're going for $130 RT from Chicago! Haven't seen rates that great in a long time.

I have a stupid question...I'm trying to book 6 flights using this deal. I've got them in my cart but it doesn't say if the price includes the taxes and fees or not. Am I going to get a larger bill then I expected when I hit purchase? Sorry I haven't booked a flight in over 11 years.

I've been watching and watching hoping our fares would drop :rotfl2:

Was so excited when this offer popped up this morning, but our dates fall in the "blackout dates" Dec 14-22.

I'll keep watching, but have little hope to do better than what I have.

The price you see should include all the taxes and fees. The government passed a law a couple of years ago requiring domestic airlines to include all taxes and fees in the posted fares.
Someone please correct me if that is not accurate.

Thank you so much! I went ahead and booked and all the taxes and fees where included.

Travel dates are 11/28-12/12 and 1/7-2/14 and you must book by this Thursday.

It's a great deal!

How can I do this? I tried to change my outbound flight since that's the only leg that dropped (BWI to MCO $69!!) but it says it's only good for new purchases. :-( Do I need to call SW to do it or is there another way other than clicking 'change flights'?

Rachel

We just booked our airfare too. Under $800 for 5 adults flyingout of Midway the first week of February. I can't remember the last time I saw such cheap rates.

I would like to know this too!

I didn't get my flights as cheap as ya'll did. I did get the best price that I have seen out of Houston in a long time. Under 1000 for the four of us.

Unfortunately, you have to cancel your existing reservation and rebook as a new roundtrip per the fine print. :sad1: That's the caveat with this sale, my outbound flight went up instead of down, but the return trip was significantly lower, so even completely rebooking I saved $55. :goodvibes SW is getting smart on their recent sales in making you do roundtrip bookings; no more one way bookings paying off.

Thanks for posting OP!

I nearly fell out of my chair when I checked the prices for our flights to take advantage of this deal. I paid $990 for 3 round trip tix about a month ago, and now the flights are $1575! :crazy2: Oh well. GREAT deal for those that were able to use it! Hopefully they'll do more of this in the future.

So I can't redeem points to use this promo? What a bummer - I have a lot of Rapi Rewards points and thought this might be a good way to sneak in a flight somewhere.

I know. I am finding out that most of the "promotions" can't be used in conjunction with Rapid Reward points. By doing that, they get your $$ and you are locked into using them even if the price goes down more [non-transferable travel funds]. Darn them for catching on. ;)

Ah Boo. I'd save about $80 if I rebooked but don't have the cash onhand to repay all the tix and don't want to use my credit card if I don't have to. Hopefully the fare will go down again, even if not as much. :) Thanks!

You would cancel all of your current reservations and rebook using the travel funds from the original booking. I don't see why you would need to have any additional funds on hand. The only potential issue is that SW says the travel funds might not be available immediately, BUT it has always been available to me instantaneously. If you elect to do this, move fast. There's always the chance the cheaper tickets will be gone by the time you try to rebook. This is not for the faint of heart. :flower3:

Quick Question, before I have my DB cancelling his tickets to rebook, does anyone know the answer to this question. There are 3 of them, but this question will be for per person.

I have been watching the flights and was able to get him credits on 2 different occasions, both credits per person if worth $9.00 ea. OK, so if he cancels his tickets each way that will be another 2 credits ea. Each way was booked separately. so that will be a total of 4 credits per person.

He will need all 4 credits per person to rebook the sale and not pay any more out of pocket money.

So question is, can 4 credits be used to purchase a new ticket?

I know I had this issue years ago, when I couldn't use all my credits plus a credit card. I just don't remember what the limit is, on using credits.

Does any one know how many credits per person can be used at one time?

Thank You:)
