10th Annual DVC Christmas Tree Exchange

Just a reminder that there is one month left until the list is capped on October 26, 2012!

After that, I'll start figuring oput who gets what tree and how many trees there are per resort. Very possible we might need more donors when all is said and done - so stay tuned!

Note you may not have a tree for your whole stay. I'll try to balance it out as best I can, but sometimes I need to split a stay. I try to make sure everyonwe who gets a tree has it for a few days at least and that no one is taking the tree down on the 24-25th.

As for gifts, I have used candy myself, but generally something sealed and wrapped, and that can tolerate a little bit of heat (the storage rooms can potential get warm). Packaged chocolates seem to work great.

Families often add an ornament or two to the tree, so it gets more decorated as it goes on.

It's a great idea to have a box that stands out - bright colors are great. Often it seems a few trees get waylaid just because they are not obvious in the storage room. Also very important to note who took the tree - sometimes the front desk stores it, sometimes Bell Services does, but if you have a name it makes it much easier to track down.

So if you are interested as a tree family, donor or both, please get me your info!

Donors - if you haven't let me know already, if your tree is decorated for a specific resort, let me know (for instance mine is very AK themed, so wouldn't fit other places).

Note that theming your tree is by no means necessary - in fact "generic" Christmas trees are great because they can go wherever needed.

But if you have a tree all set for a given resort, let me know.

Once again - after October 26 I'll divvy out the trees.

Jeff

Mine were BLT themed sort of. :lmao: If I am donating two (which I believe I am) I will try to get ornaments to fit those hotels I am assigned to.

Mine is also AK themed.

Hello! My family would love to participate in this great tradition again if possible! We are staying at our home resort VWL December 3 - December 9. We have 2 children 10 and 7 years old. Thank you!

Hi Jeff, I emailed you about getting another tree at SSR for My brother who is coming with me. Let me know if you didn't receive the email.

Thanks, Maria

antree - got it! I'll note it and if I can fulfill your request.

Thank You Jeff, My brother will be thrilled if it can be worked out. I wasn't thinking that his son is still at a age that would enjoy it too.

With about 3 weeks left, here are the counts so far. It's highly likely that the resorts with 9-10 families will need 2 trees. Also resorts with fewer families may need extra trees too if a lot of reservations overlap. So far, I have about 15 trees from those that said they would donate. That will be great, but don't forget that we'll have more families signing up and could always loose a donor or two. So if you can donate, let me know! If you don't have a tree, don't buy one until you are confirmed though!

Current families/resort:

AKJ 5
AKK 10
BCV 10
BLT 7
BWV 7
OKW 6
SSR 9
VWL 10

OK, with 10 days left, this is how it looks. After 10/26, I'll be doing this:

1) coming up with tree rotations
2) contacting donors to confirm they can in fact donate
3) if needed, asking for more donors
4) sending instructions to donors - families will have their instructions in the tree box

Here is how it looks so far:
AKJ - 1 tree
AKK - 2 trees
BCV - 2 trees
BLT - 2 trees
BWV - 1 tree
OKW - 1 tree
SSR - 2 trees
VWL - 1 tree

That is 12 trees. Right now we have 15 trees from those that said they would donate. If that holds up we are great! What I'll do then is use the extra trees to give families more time with trees before passing it on when their stays overlap with that of another family.

Of course if we get a flood of people in the last week, that could change, so stay tuned!

The Washburne family would love to participate! We will be staying at SSR 12/22/12-12/29/12. It is our first family trip during the Holidays and we will be celebrating my husbands birthday as well, which is December 26.:santa:

We would love to participate in the Christmas Tree Exchange for the first time!! We are staying at the BWV 11/30-12/8. We have five kids, ages 3,6,9,9 & 10. Thanks so much for coordinating!!

OK, one week left!

If you already signed up, please check the information on the spreadsheet (even if it was correct before - cut & paste errors are not unknown to me).

If you want to donate, let me know if you haven't.

If I have you listed as a donor and you are not, let me know.

I'll figure out the tree rotation and let people know next weekend.

Jeff
