Biggest Loser Fall Challenge!

Happy Sunday morning all! :goodvibes

Thanks, Tracey, for coaching last week and a big, BL thank you to Jill for coaching this week! :flower3:

:welcome: Ruby! Thanks for joining us and sharing your inspiring story! :thumbsup2

Disney Hokie Gal, good luck on your 9 mile run today. You can do it! :tink: I have one more long run before the W&D half -- it is racing toward us! :scared:

QOTD Saturday October 6
It seems like sometimes we have days where we are so busy we do not have time to cook dinner. What do you do? Do you have a go to quick meal or fast food that you can rely on in a pinch? What is this go to meal and how does it fit into your healthy eating plan?

My go to quick meal is grazing. We can always find something in the refrigerator, freezer or pantry on those days we are too busy to cook. Breakfast for dinner is always a good one if there is nothing else. ::yes::

Yikes Pamela! Take care of that eye. :hugs: I would have it looked at right away. BIL had one of those infections that someone else mentioned and they are very, very serious. :flower3:

Jen, so glad that the Panthers had a great game! :cheer2:

Linda, I hear you on the cooler weather. I've been searching for my cooler weather running gear. We are setting records here for dry weather -- no rain in over 45 days -- crazy! I'm wanting it to hold off until my 10k on Sunday. :sunny: How many days until your trip? You will get to Haunted Mansion Holiday -- one of my favorites. :santa:

Hi Fran! Nice to see you! :flower3:

Exercise for the weekend: We went to the Home and Garden Show and walked allover creation then went to the expo for the marathon tomorrow and again walked all over creation. Got to talk with Jeff Galloway and got some good training advise so will be out tomorrow morning running with his advise in tow.

Sounds like fun! :goodvibes I always enjoy talking to Jeff Galloway -- it's that southern accent. ;)

Liz, congrats on your great ToT race! :cool1: I love the medal! :love:

Sunday, October 7 QOTD

It's a chilly 42 degrees in wesern PA. Winter is trying to creep in. How do you prepare for exercising during colder months? Do you still go outside to exercise or do you stay inside? And, if you live where you don't have cold months, you're lucky :)

It is cooling down here, too. We've had frost for several mornings. I retreat to the indoor track when things get too bad. I've been using the track alot simply because it takes so long for the sun to come up now. I'm not comfortable running in the dark. And I tell myself that the indoor track is more like the FL temps anyway. :rotfl:

I had a maintain this week which is what I deserve. I'm not horribly off plan but I'm not on like I should be. Watching my ticker count down has given me a new lease on my healthy lifestyle so I am hoping for a better week this week. :scared1:

I have been nonstop busy and am now fighting a cold. I wonder. ;) Yesterday was my college reunion. It was a fun day seeing some good friends. I tried to watch what I ate, but it wasn't pretty by the end of the day. Lunch, snack, and dinner were all gluten free, though the evening party is up in the air. I've eaten there before so I knew what I could eat, but I'm not feeling perfect so I can't be positive. It could be just the fact that I ate more than usual yesterday.

Today's big task is to go grocery shopping. Last weekend, I didn't go because we were visiting my grandparents. I went on Monday night, but did it as quickly as possible. The store was packed and no one (myself included) seemed to be able to find anything. I usually don't go to this Big Y, but I was in that area, so that's where I went. I came home and had to tell my parents I couldn't find coffee. To put it simply, I went shopping again that night. ;)

I had been planning to go to CVS either Monday or Tuesday, so it worked out fine anyway. CVS had some great deals this past week and I coupled them with some excellent coupons. I made 5 visits this week and ended up spending about $10 on about $100 worth of items. I am frequently near one so I am not spending extra money on gas. On Monday night, I needed to get coffee, on Wed., my doctor's appt was across the street from a CVS, on Thursday, I passed one on my way to a class I am taking, on Friday I went slightly out of my way after going to the gym, and yesterday I passed one on my way to my college.

I better go. My parents are having a discussion I need to join.

Have a great day everyone!

QOTD -
Catching up after a good Saturday.

As far as what to do when we're short of time, we try to have "supper in the car".

It does get cold in FL, MB, I think it is the humidity makes it seem colder. I like "supper in the car" -- sounds like you do a good job of being prepared. When DS was little and we ran out of time for breakfast we would do "breakfast in a bag" and had cereal in a bag while we drove to daycare. Sounded better than "no time for breakfast today." ;)

I don't mind the cold, it's the wet I can't stand. But I usually run in it anyway. When it rains sideways I go to the Y and use the treadmill. Not fun. :crazy2:

Lisa, we are on day 77 of no rain. I love it! I think rain is forecast for the weekend. bummer, but I know we need it.

Need to make a cake out of my one lone overripe banana before church so gotta run.

Happy Sunday,

No time to get on yesterday! Took a long drive to Yankee Candle Village. Had a nice lunch and then strolled through and shopped through the stores! What a place! Can't wait to go back and hoping it won't be as crowded! Bought some stuff for us and some gifts. Put out the creme brulee candle last night! It's amazing!

Getting ready to go see some friends to watch the Patriots game and eat Chinese food. We're bringing snack stuff.

I did .75 miles on the elliptical this morning. Hoping to do another round tonight! Going to try and do it twice a day the coming week.

I'll do my weigh in tomorrow though it won't be pretty. Big gain this week and with still trying to get over this cough not been eating the best! And we'll be eating bad stuff today! I'm going to try and be really focused this coming week! Going to try and plan stuff out tonight for the rest of the week. I have to work in the afternoon for 2 hours but I'll try and get dinner in the crock pot before I leave which reminds me I need to take out some chicken to defrost!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! If we get back early enough I'll try and catch up with the QOTDs! Still not getting on as much as I want but hoping that will change in the next 2 weeks!

TTFN :tigger:

I go to the gym and run the track there. Or the treadmill. I HATE the cold!! Brr! (Stupid Michigan Winters...)

QOTD Saturday October 6: It seems like sometimes we have days where we are so busy we do not have time to cook dinner. What do you do? Do you have a go to quick meal or fast food that you can rely on in a pinch? What is this go to meal and how does it fit into your healthy eating plan?

Well, this is something that we struggle with weekly. It used to be that I would just swing by Taco Bell and get something, but since we don't eat bread/grain anymore we can't really do that now!

My go-to meal these days is stir-fry. It is super fast, even if you have to cook the meat. I do get the grass-fed beef stroganoff from the butcher and keep some on hand for quick meal prep. It's fast even if it comes straight from the freezer. I just toss in some veggies and then it's done.

I also keep jars of Tikka Masala sauce or Butter Chicken sauce on hand. I use it with Pre-Sliced chicken breast to make a fast dish that can be served over cauli-rice or regular rice (we don't eat regular rice though).

My ultimate fast dish? Taco Soup or Chili. I can usually toss all the ingredients in the crock-pot in the morning or even on the stovetop while I'm doing other things in the evening.

Got my 9-mile run in. It was my longest run since the Tinker Bell run, which isn't good. We were very slow, so need to pick it up if we hope to finish the W&D in the time allowed. And we have to finish - we're getting the Coast to Coast medal!

I think I need new shoes, even though I got new ones this spring. My right foot is really, really sore, and I was rubbing funny in the shoes. So I'll head to the running store this week and talk to them. I have 2 5ks scheduled for the next month, and 2 long runs, so that'll be good trianing if I do get new ones.

Sunday's QOTD - I love running outside in the cooler weather. I sweat so much that it's easier for me to run when it's cooler outside. But then I'll use the gym for my strength trianing or my shorter runs, since I don't like to run outside at night in my neighborhood.

QOTD -
Catching up after a good Saturday.

As far as what to do when we're short of time, we try to have "supper in the car". Both my husband and daughter love chicken salad (canned chicken, a little lowfat mayo, a little mustard) so I'll make sandwiches out of that for them. For me, I'll make tuna salad (canned water packed tuna and light BBQ sauce) and put it on low point bread. We almost never stop for fast food which is saying something because we used to stop three or four times a week. The key for me is to be prepared. Our little ice chest comes everywhere with us.

As for Sunday's QOTD, it does get cold here in NW Florida - especially since I'll be out in the wee hours of the morning. We just layer and deal with it as best we can.

We often take a cooler with snacks or sandwiches when we know we will be out during a meal. I've never tried tuna with bbq sauce. I love both of those, so I think I'll try it in a lettuce wrap! It sounds like you are definitely prepared.

I'd rather be cold in FL than cold in PA :rotfl:

I think breakfast for dinner is one the quickest meals. My kids love it...DH? Not too good.

You are so lucky to have an indoor track. I wish we had one near us. I think I would run more during winter.

Hey CC! Glad to see you around. I wish I had your couponing skills. I have no patience for coupons. Sad, I know. It sounds like you scored this week!

Ummm...I'm embarrassed to admit that my 6 year old (who is slow moving & runs 10 minutes behind the rest of the family at all times) has eaten a frozen waffle while walking to school. He's also had the cereal in a baggie or fruit. Must be a boy thing :rotfl2:

Good for you for running no matter what. I dislike the treadmill also. I need fresh air and new scenery instead of stale gym air & a window.

I did not even know there was a Yankee Candle Village! It seems like you had a great day. It's so hard to pick just a couple candles vs everything in the store. What scents are your favorite? I have to tell you, they used to have a scent (I don't know if they make it anymore) and it's called Pineapple Cilantro. Hello! It smells exactly like a Lapu Lapu from O'hana. In fact, it's burning right nowin my living room taking me to my happy place :)

You seem very well prepared when you need a quick fix meal. I also hate the cold. I'm sure our winters are similar. I don't want to scare you, but winter's coming :sad:

Got my 9-mile run in. It was my longest run since the Tinker Bell run, which isn't good. We were very slow, so need to pick it up if we hope to finish the W&D in the time allowed. And we have to finish - we're getting the Coast to Coast medal!

Way to go on your 9 mile run! I hope you have good luck getting new shoes. It sounds like you'll be busy with your 5ks. Have fun!
I don't mind running when it's into the 50s, but I dread running below that. And, once the snow starts, I worry about falling.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ugh. I just looked at the weather thinking I would take the dog for a walk/run. It's now 41 degrees and we have a freeze warning tonight/tomorrow morning. I'm not ready for the 30s! I better get some exercise in today since I took yesterday off. This week is looking busier than I thought and I may only get to the gym tomorrow! I better pull out some dvds and get ready for home workouts.
It's so nice not having to work tomorrow. Usually about now on Sunday's I am running around doing laundry for the week, getting the garbage together, packing lunches, cleaning, and just stressing. It's so nice to be able to sit and relax right now, I did laundry & need to clean up from dinner, but I don't feel rushed.
I will probably be back later to post the QOTD for tomorrow.
I mainly exercise indoors as it is so the cooler weather doesn't really affect my exercise plan. In fact, it helps it because I'm more willing to take a walk outside! :thumbsup2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Pretty quiet weekend this weekend. DGrandpa invited me to come stay for the weekend so I spent most of yesterday at his house visiting with friends and we went to church together this morning. This was my first time staying overnight since DGrandma died and the feeling was very surreal for me. I don't know...it's just a really weird feeling, especially since the whole house screams of her... But I'm glad I had the chance to spend some time with him this weekend. Plus that gave him the chance to give me the gift he got me from a recent trip; a hematite necklace with a carved dolphin charm that he picked out for me. Usually grandma picked out souvenirs from trips so I really liked that he picked this one. I'm wearing it now. :goodvibes

Back at home for the evening and looking forward to vegging out for the night.

Have a good Sunday!

I hate being cold yet LOVE the winter...well at least when it looks like winter with the snow falling.. Not that that seems to happen much any more :(

I am hoping to get back to the gym soon .... Treadmill has beef buried in the garage since our move because there is no place for it in the house

Hoping to get some organizing done tomorrow before it gets too cold...need to make room in garage for the car :)

Not been a good eating day as I had family over for moms bday and football :(. Lots of sweets :(. Hope I didn't totally destroy my last weeks loss!

I love the cooler weather and cold really doesn't bother me as much as hot.:faint:

I plan to keep exercising outside as long as possible. Of course since I live in the Pacific NorthWET that means rain which I can handle. Ice not so much so it will be ice that sends me indoors.

I went out today with DH to run with the advise from Jeff Galloway and had a good 30 min run. DH said when we got back "Okay that man sure knows what he is talking about." Of course I had to laugh since I have much more exposure and knowledge of Jeff.

QOTD Monday, October 8

It's Monday so let's have a fun question! What is your favorite ride in each of the parks (MK, Epcot, AK, DHS, DL, CA)? Are there any rides you can do without or that you think need a makeover?

Evening friends! Just a quick pop on to say hello! DD and I are near Boston overnight. Today was Museum of Science and tomorrow is New England Aquarium. And too much eating! Being good when and where I can, but enjoying splurges too.

DD surprised me with gifts for our Mother/Daughter time! She bought me the Disney Pixie Dust body wash (to go with my perfume) and a pair of mother/daughter necklaces for us to wear! How special! It may not be a Disney weekend, but it can still be great!

Tired, so I'm off to bed! TTY tomorrow or Tuesday!........P

MK - I love Space Mountain in the front.

Epcot - My fav thing ever...Test Track (IN THE RAIN) :lovestruc:lovestruc

AK - Expedition Everest

DHS - RnR

Never been to the DL :sad:

Have a great week everyone!!!

It's Monday so let's have a fun question! What is your favorite ride in each of the parks (MK, Epcot, AK, DHS, DL, CA)? Are there any rides you can do without or that you think need a makeover?
MK: So many to choose from... I love the Carousel of Progress- yep I'm a dork but there's nothing better than getting "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" stuck in your head ;) I love Space Mtn -- sitting in the front too, Peter Pan, It's a Small World... I MISS Mr Toad's Wild Ride from when I was a kid.

Epcot: Journey into the Imagination (Figment ride) for nostalgia purposes. I love that purple guy :) Soarin' is my newer favorite.

Animal Kingdom: We didn't do much in AK when we went in June (my first time there) because it was H O T that day. We did like the Kilimanjaro Safari. I'm dying to do Expedition Everest.

DHS: Muppets 3d. We didn't do RnR Coaster- niece wasn't tall enough and we ran out of time. Tower of Terror was awesome but shook up 5yo niece a little bit and I was busy making sure she was all good once we were bopping up and down. She LOVES roller coasters and scary stuff, but I think ToT was a bit much for her.

QOTD:

MK - Has to be Buzz. Love that ride first thing on an EMH morning.
Epcot - Soarin.
AK - The Safari
DHS - None. Just not our favorite park

Have a happy Monday everyone!

WOW, lets see
MK: Buzz Lightyear
Epcot: Soarin
AK: Safari
DHS: Toy Story
CA: Radiator Racers!!
DL: Haunted Mansion decked our for Halloween!!

Ok can you tell I am not a big rider :) These I enjoy the most because Zach and I do them again and again and he LOVES them and I love watching him on them....

So good morning...only put on .4 this weekend which I am thrilled with because I figured it would have been more like 4 lbs!! Nothing like a good weigh in to keep you from having cake and ice cream for breakfast!!!
So here is my new motivation...for every week I have a loss...no matter how big or small...I am going to treat myself to something new...like a new piece of jewlery or a new shirt or something. I find that I never buy myself clothes or shoes and am often wearing things that don't fit...
when I was down 30 lbs last year my pants were litterally falling off me yet I did not go out and buy new ones because I still didn't have a good view of myself...no matter how much I lost I still hated the way I looked. So this time I am going to try and focus more on feeling good about the way I look and making sure I have the "accessories" to do it :) My DH however may not be happy with that as it means I am going SHOPPING :car: of course me feeling good about the way I look always has been a benefit for him if ya know what I mean :love2: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hello everyone! I've been gone forEVER and desperately need to get back on track...starting right now! Just a quick post about my trip: It was awesome!! I had no guilt about F&WF, enjoyed everything I ate on vacation, and ran my race in 2:29:40- under two and a half hours! Gonna get right down to business and get back on track, I gained way too much to be comfortable, so I'm hoping to change that soon!

QOTD Monday, October 8

It's Monday so let's have a fun question! What is your favorite ride in each of the parks (MK, Epcot, AK, DHS, DL, CA)? Are there any rides you can do without or that you think need a makeover?

Let's see....

MK- I always have to make sure I ride HM. It is my absolute favorite in the park, and the new queue is to die for (get it?!?:rotfl:)
Epcot- It sounds really cheesy, but my favorite is Gran Fiesta Tour with the Three Caballeros. That was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid, and I always love to see Fiesta Donald in Mexico because of it. It just makes me feel nostalgic :)
AK- Everest!! Without a doubt, I love me some roller coasters!
DHS- This is a tough one, because I can't leave the park without riding ToT and RnR. The atmosphere is palpable in both of them, and the ride operators are always in "character". I love them both!

I don't remember much about DL/DCA, so I can't say!
