Highest EB Checkin Yet for Me MDW-MCO

Hi all,

Just thought I'd let my fellow Midway travelers that I purchased EB check-in for my flight down to MCO and am glad I did. Even with EB, I still ended up with a B1. Usually I'm in the A20's with EB and this is the highest I've ever gotten.

I did change to this flight about three or four months ago, but definitely paid more than it was when it came out and what I had originally booked. I've also had EB bought since I originally got the flight in March, so who knows what wisdom SW is now using to determine order. And yes, I do buy it for just one person as I'm a scaredy cat flyer and if I can't book an exact seat, I like at least knowing I might still have my pick of them. :)

Looks like the word is definitely out in Chicago now.

With more and more people buying EBCI, there will be more and more people getting "B" boarding passes. Eventually EBCI isn't really going to work completely, and either it'll just be another revenue-maker, or they'll have to come up with another system, or ditch the concept completely.

From all the posts I've seen, it almost seems like it's a random order in which the boarding passes are assigned to EBCI tickets. :confused3

I'd have to agree as it now seems completely random. It'll be interesting to see what I get on the way back.

People also need to keep in mind that after the Business Select 1-15 people are the A-listers. They automatically get checked in after the Business Select folks. I am currently an A-lister and on some flights have been surprised at just how many A-listers are on a particular flight. I've been A-30 (apparently they check us in in alphabetical order and I'm on the back end of the alphabet), so in those cases the EBCI folks aren't starting until A-31.

Good to know that - thank you.

Being the plane is going through Midway, chances are the flight started somewhere else. So if it's Minneapolis-Chicago-Orlando on the same flight #, the Minneapolis people are going to be checking in first.

In addition to everything already mentioned, passengers who purchase an Anytime fare and EBCI get their boarding position assigned before those who purchase a Wanna Get Away fare. If you're like me and buy Wanna Get Away fare tickets and pay for EBCI months in advance, someone can purchase an Anytime fare ticket and EBCI days before the flight and end up ahead of you in the boarding line.

It all ended up fine, I was just surprised. It was a six am flight, so I think it was probably originating out of Chicago. One thing that did happen was between the A and B group was they let a whole group traveling together get on and it was maybe 25 people all with C passes. It must have been a school or organization, but these kids were all 12-14 year olds. That ticked a lot of people off.

My DH flew out the following Sunday and ended up with a B25 after getting EB so it didn't make mine look so bad.
