Although I am no major pin collector, I do have my favs and certainly try to get at least one everytime I visit the "Happy Place!" :goodvibes Something significant to that trip. (I'm sure I'm not alone in this!)

As my first trip to Walt's Park approaches, which will include our 1st MHParty (26OCT), I have begun to worry. There is a specific MHP/Mickey pin that I have my sights on. I tried calling parks merchandise to order it, but was told because it is a special event/limited edition pin it can "only" be purchased in the park.

So I ask you, would I be foolish to hold my breath that this pin will still be available that late into the Halloween season? Have late party attendees been able to pickup the limited merchandise late? Does Disney typically stock enough of the specialty merchandise that it will last the entire "event" time frame?

I realize no one will have a crystal ball to guarantee me anything, just wondering how it "typically" goes down.

Should I:
- Give up hope now - not gonna happen
- Find a new friend going to the party early
- Start practicing deep breath holding excercises because it's possible

Thanks in advance for your guidance. . .

Have you considered e-bay or one of the pin collecting forums? Which specific pin are you looking for?

Hi elaw, Thanks for the quick response. No, I sure haven't considered those other sources. I'm not too knowledgeable about this pin collecting "stuff." ;)

Did not even know there were pin collecting forums! But then, I shouldn't be surprised.

I guess I could resort to the ebay option should I not be able to find it in the park myself.

The pin I have my heart set on is of Vampire Mickey with a cape that closes in front of him, then opens to reveal Mickey's Halloween Party 2012. I saw it posted on the Disney Parks Blog here:

The party pins were available during normally park hours after the first party. I don't know if that means they normally have enough to last thorough the parties or if they just try to sell then as soon as possible.

Regarding the prices in eBay...I suspect that some sellers are either CM or AP holders that get discounts. For example, AP holders get 20% discount, so the $14 pin is $11.80 plus tax. So $15 starting price is pretty good.

If you really want the pin, I would consider buying it from eBay. That way you won't be stressed for the next month.

And sometimes if you wait, you can get a good deal on eBay. Earlier this year, I was able to get the 2011 AP pin of the Hub with the statue and all the different pumpkins for about $26, it retailed for $40. Usually, off season = better prices.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I'll cross my fingers and hope to find one in the park - just 'cuz buying it there is more "fun." But if I can't find one, I'll go to ebay.

WOW! My eyes have been opened! I checked out a couple of the sites mentioned above. I feel foolish, should've known about this - never thought it all the way through.

I feel much better now. :)

Ok a few more questions for all you pin people. I'm new to pins. I Dont trade them, just collect them for myself and the kids. We usually buy a special one that will remind us of each trip.

I know theres a Disney visa pin. Is there really an AP pin too? I'm bummed that I missed that! Does it change yearly like the visa one does? Can I order it over the phone?

As far as pin trading goes, I have pins that I've gotten from preordering the Disney DVD's and buying some DVD's through Disney movie club. Are these "trade-able"? I was thinking of letting DD trade with the CM's a bit next trip and was just wondering.

TIA!

There are usually several AP pins during the course of the year. You cannot order them over the phone and you will have to show a valid AP to purchase them at the parks.

If you go to the Disney pin site and do a search for "passholder" you'll see all of the annual passholder pins that have been available at WDW and DLR. Note that most are no longer available.

Any pin that meet the requirements will be "trade-able". Generally, it must have the Disney copyright on the back and be in good condition. Disney has a good page that will help you get started (it has the rules, etc.).

Hi saw this in the comment section of the blog post about the pins

, I hope that we’ll have enough to last the Halloween season, but the art is really cute, so I can see it going fast. I’d recommend calling Disney Merchandise Guest Services at 1-877-560-6477 on Sept. 28, and inquire about ordering the merchandise, which you can then wear on your trip. Hope that helps.

Maybe if you call the number they can tell you more or let you order it from them.
never hurts to ask and it is even a free phone call. going this friday for the first time to the party. as I recall there is a number they have for folks who cannot find an item 800delivears or something like that. they gave it to us last year when we were trying to find the back to school pin. the cm said that we can all that number and they will try to find it for us and in some cases you can order it on the phone

Hi queenbetsey :wave2:
Actually, that was the ph # I called. The CM I talked to was very helpful, but in the end said I couldn't order the pin I wanted over the phone. She did however give me the SKU #, and told me what stores I could find it in.
I'm not worried about it anymore. With my "eyes wide open" now, I'll end up with something I like - one way or another! ;)

I too collect for the "memories" of the trip. DS only collects Stitch pins. He has enough to trade - maybe this upcoming trip?? Up to him.

Thanks for the info! Kicking myself for having an AP for a whole year now and never getting any of the pins on our trips!
